Fun Fact: Long-haired dachshunds, known for their lively and energetic disposition, are prone to shedding their undercoat heavily on a semi-annual basis, a phenomenon known as "blowing their coat." As a result, they necessitate regular grooming to maintain their long, silky coats. While their shedding may seem like a hassle, they are relatively low maintenance in terms of bathing and only require a bath every few months.

Please make a video on dogs who are afraid of other dogs. My puppy's fur goes up and he starts barking at other dogs.

I've got a 2 year old Sheltie that I adopted when she was 6 months old. She won't walk past where she can see our apartment, and is very fearful during car rides and is very aggressive when the car engine stops and she leaves the car. Would love to see a video on car fear, thanks!

This was a great video. I’m having an unusual problem with my little Pom I’m training as my service dog. I move talk to yiu fir awhile with issues Icm’ e has but fear is a large issue. Her latest is she rides in car well, greets people well, even greets doctors well but while waiting in the waiting room in my lap she frets. I’ve tried treats and letting her explore the area but still she clearly is stressed. Is she failing her service dog training or is there something else we can try?

Thanks a lot. We have a 3yrold GSD that was feral for the first year of her life. We think she and her mother escaped from a puppy mill. It's been a long haul socializing her just to me and my wife. We are very happy at how far she's come, but introducing her to strangers is her kryptonite. This is very helpful reassurance that we are on the right track.

@@deejayft8218 Found a local dog training school that has a daycare/training program. Several of the staff own GSD's with issues, so this was not an unknown issue for them. Our dog has been going 4Xweek for 4months and is now working well with all of the staff, and greeting strangers in the waiting room when we pick her up and drop her off. Just this past weekend we took her for a 5 day trip to visit friends 8hrs away. She slept through most of the trip (unmedicated) and did not pace or stop eating in the air bnb we stayed out. Greeted our friends cautiously with sniff and letting them pet and treat her. For us, this was a HUGE deal. There is hope, she may one day be as normal as a GSD ever gets.
      Thanks for asking.

My girlfriend came home with an adorable Chihuahua/Yorkie mix. She is TERRIFIED of everything including me up until recently (took a few weeks of exposure to me) but I’m afraid to go out with her because I don’t want to traumatize her… it’s so tough and I feel so bad for her. Just want her to be confident!!

Greetings...@8:25 when Bethany says "put the dog away"! I ask this to the commenters on this channel...
Does that mean put the dog in a crate?
As I live in a house with the exact same traits as Bethany was explaining...except this particular dog is owned by another, and sleeps in the owner's room!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nate,
I'm following your channel for a while. First of all, thank you so much for you knowledge about, and warmth with, the dogs. It really makes me happy. My twin has a dog (Grisha), a Podenko, and she is afraid of hard noises, like firework, or other little explosions. Let's say we are walking in the woods and there is some firework far away or quite close, as a reaction Grisha runs to us, crawls with her paws to my or my twins legs or is jumping/leaning to our belly or back with her paws and wants to be hold. She shakes and is panting and wants to walk back home. We are trying to act as normal as possible, say it's fine in a normal tone, and try to distract her with a stick or another toy, but that doesn't stop the anxiety. The rest of the walk (home if she is too anxious and in panic or further because we also don't want to give in and stimulate the anxiety) she doesn't leave our side. We pet her occasionally while we are walking to let her know it's okay. Sometimes we also talk to Grisha, or sing a slow song for her, in this way she can hear the calmth in my voice, focus on that, and maybe calm down by herself. This helps a bit, but it does not prevent the cause of her anxiety. The fireworks are getting more because of new year coming up. Do you have any advice that will help to calm her down, or some assignments we can do so she will not be scared for hard noises anymore? Hope to hear from you.
    Greetings, Anne

Dude, do you realize how sexist it sounds when you tell a woman you like her better when she's quiet? There's nothing wrong with her using a strong voice, especially in an instructional video with dogs barking in the background. Her tone is almost identical to Nate's but you aren't complaining his voice is too strong to be attractive to you.
