The thing I like about Kyle is he's humble. Works at one of the baddest engine shops in the country yet still uses budget parts and understands this stuff is expensive. Reuse timing chain and lifters rather than throw parts out just cause he has access to better parts. Love the budget minded side that so many of us relate to.
True hot rodders spirit..... A little from here, something left over from there, make this work........great stuff Anybody can throw $ and buy the best To actually engineer parts to work together......thats great training for one day you can come up and help your dad manage SM engines and make him proud.......he already holds you in high esteem and as a father, i can tell. To leave you alone to manage high $ engine dyno and tune takes a lot of confidence in your ability...... Well done.
I love your dad's channel, The big engines blow my mind, but I really appreciate what you are doing with the SBF, as I run a number of these engines in my trucks. I am not a drag racer, but there is some great knowledge in there, learned from experience. Your understanding of budget racing and big buck engines is remarkable. Keep up the good work, fella. Old 50 year old dude here.
An engine, is an engine. In the end, I can take the exact same rods and put them into a Chevrolet. I can take the exact same Pistons and put them into a Chevrolet. All the pieces and parts are pretty much the same.
I really enjoy your content. I was doing some drag racing in the late 60's...Budget... and broke a lot of parts. I'd get frustrated and say I'm never doing this again. Then I'd be back at the track the next weekend having the time of my life. Your smile when your working on your car tells me all i need to know. 😁
I'll add that I ran all stock everything except ported stock heads and a Crane 204/204 cam. Even a stock turbo (ported), stock intercooler(also ported) 30 lb/hr injectors. I did change head gaskets as often as most people change oil on Sunday, so she had a car to drive on Monday AM. I've done it on the side of the road in 12 hours with only hand tools). Now I build 1500+ HP Stage II V6's. I'll call you guys about the fire ring mods.👍👍
Kyle: I'm 70 years old and I find your channel more interesting than your dad's. No offense, he's doing some amazing things with those two engine programs he's producing. That thin wall Hank you run in the blue car impresses me with its performance with it being a more realistic build and all. The highs and lows, you actually figuring out the quirks instead of just pouring money at it like a real hot rodder should. Keep up the good work and content.
Hes easier to relate with. 99% of people will never be able to own a smx or sml let alone have one powering a big tire chassis car. Everything kyle has been doing is something even a 16 year old kid working part time could do and slowly work their way to afford newer better parts to go faster.
Great Video Kyle. It would be interesting to take a Profilometer reading of the thrust side of the cylinder walls compared to the as honed readings. Keep up the good work !!!
I always look at SBF stuff with interest. My 1985 ski boat, that I bought from the factory rep in 1987, has a Ford engine. It's reverse rotation and the 351W marine Fords of the era maxed out at 240hp. So are the easy to obtain drop in marine replacements. It's a little frustrating. In 1985 you paid $600 1985 dollars and got 40hp if you opted for an SBC. Now of course you can get some pretty nice reverse rotation drop in power for SBC equipped boats. I don't barefoot as much as I used to. But a little extra power is nice for pulling up fat guys on slalom skis. Ski boats live under 5000rpm. So I'll wait for the never gonna happen day when Kyle does a here's my SBF truck engine rundown on how I get an SBF to pull race trailers through the mountains video, because he would use boost. Why we drink.
The fact you can step over the power threshholds of some of the parts is a testament to the quality provided as well as your skill in preparing and tuning
Agreed many of us die hard ford fanatics. Love the content and I see nothing wrong with your set up seriously runs well for what you use. Wish I had a build little SBF with a 100 shot of nos with a nasty sounding idle. Anyway me and my damn dreams keep at it Kyle love the content and always look forward to more. Take care my friend much love for you and the Family.
Loving you’re channel as I am a Ford owner with a Foxbody. If you want to give away that block so you can step up to the iron eagle I would be willing to take it off your hands as I need to do a rebuild😂. 😂
You're honesty is why I watch you and your dad's channels because you both are honest and straight up I think I try to watch all your videos and all your dad's videos
I just recently found out you had a channel . I like your dads and you seem very similar to me honesty, no bs and just down to earth vibes . Glad I’m subscribed and I’ll be watching whatever you upload
I know you guys build some really high end stuff and it can do some amazing things, but I like your piece it together approach - using trade in and old parts to get out there go have fun! I also like that you're re-using things like the timing chain and lifters instead of arbitrarily tossing them. They passed your inspection so they still have useful life!
I'm actually a bit surprised that you've kept the engine build relatively budget oriented. I would've thought you would have some crazy build considering where you work and who your father is lol!
I don’t understand how a man or person who works everyday and nets 55-60 k a year , can build this motor that you’re taking apart? I want a rocking small block Chevy to play some just can’t figure out how to make it happen. I learn lot as you was doing tear down. Thanks sir
Good to see you making good power with basically good street parts and not some one off/exotic stuff that most claim is needed to make 1500hp SBF. Idont know if i missed it or you didnt say but i never heard what piston brand or type/material rings you are using.
Isn't the 14.4 volt 3/8 snap-on impact the greatest tool 🔥 Also the 14.4 volt buffing prep tool is amazing for cleaning gasket surfaces it comes with the attachment to use the Scotch-Brite Roloc wheels. It's great for at the racetrack and working at places that doesn't have air compressor. 💥 🤯 Straight game changer 👍
Man that was a good video. Love the ford stuff, as you can tell from the pic beside my name. I have a lot of the same parts on one of my Windsor’s. Very cool man
Not really a Ford guy,but everything you have and what you're doing with it seems more for us average every day guy. I mean good used parts making a decent amount of power and not breaking the bank.
In the 2000s I Ran the SBF Windsors N/A nitrous, Turbos and the only issues were keeping the head gaskets in. Other than that they made good power. Unfortunately I didn’t know about machining hoops back then.
Kyle. I 74. I have 5.0 in my 83 ranger still 4x4 a5.0 in my 37 ford 5 speed and last a50 in my 63 comet alu heads comp 540 something lift AOD 4:56 gears this summer…… ps all 3 engines are 1999 expeller Haha. FORD First on race day !
Love that you do ford content !! Still lots of ford guys around
First On Race Day baby!

As Steve Morris would say oh look at the cute little baby rods, lol...😂
Oh man. I did a bunch of dowel jokes on the last last video. Don't get me started on "My Little Rod" jokes. I'll get banned or something.
And those are oversized from stock (5/16”)!
You are doing a great job with your channel. You definitely are your father's son. Keep it up.
As one of the SB Ford guys ( have a 347 in my 66 Mustang and a 302 in my 31 Street Rod) its great to see your info on your 347. Keep it up!

Not a Ford fan but like the way you break down the parts down to earth way, nice work

I bet every racer has felt the same thing at some point. The cost of pushing things trying to go faster.
Back in the 90's my wife drove my race car to work a 70 mile commute. (11 sec GN

The Windsor brought me here. Enjoyed the content.
Definitely a 302
@@SCMisfitMafia which is a type of Windsor
Thanks for the SB Ford stuff.
Lots of great content…just shows that with great prep work it doesn’t cost a fortune to make big power
Thanks for the honest tear down. Great info there.
Kyle like his father holds nothing back-tells it like it is. That is why I subscribed.
Kyle great review on your rig👍😉 Really shows with pretty decent bolt on parts 1600+ hp is very capable.
If you close your eyes and just listen!.......I hear a very young Steve voice...amazing
Great episode. Always like an analysis on an engine.
Thanks mate.

70 years old and causing family feuds! 😂😂
Thank you, Kyle, for the Ford content and going through your engine, and telling us what you used to build it.
We really appreciate it a lot!
Great Video Kyle. It would be interesting to take a Profilometer reading of the thrust side of the cylinder walls compared to the as honed readings. Keep up the good work !!!
Awesome comprehensive teardown and explanation of parts. Pretty mint condition honestly besides the pin failure.
Really sick car. Do really like your content along with your dads. Love what you both do.
Kyle, you need to talk to dad, about the SMF !!!! its time!
SMF big block and SMW Windsor...
O hell ya . Or a large inch coyote
@@Spad68 Ford did limit inches with small bore spacing on the Mod motors. Adding 100 inches to a 'yote sounds insane!
A big inch coyote will not do as well as people think.
The dohc 5.8 Ford was never impressive.
It might be a KMF
Overlap on a crank is so critical, more is better. Love short stroke motors! late 60's Z-28 would sing to ya.
Love your video's Kyle. Most of all, you can tell you are an upfront and honest guy. Wishing you much future success in racing & life.
Thanks for sharing your part’s and especially the cam card, too many people are so secretive about this.
There is none of that stuff on my shelves - what cool toys you have!
Thank you Kyle. Best channel to come out of that shop!
You should put that engine together in no time.
Go ahead still got time to make it to Sick Week ✅💯💪🏼🏁
Good to get feedback on parts more of the common guys would use. Sure we'd all like Jesel rockers and Callies cranks but just too expensive.

Absolutely love your build!!
Wicked fast car!!
And as a S197 mustang gt, owner.
Love mustangs.
Keep up the good work!!
Interesting explanation of the tear down.
Nice combo and great power with essentially off the shelf parts!
For being a 347 ci, that's one bad azz little motor !love old blueberry.
Worked on friend's cars that had the SBF's, the 302 CID was my favorite rev-ing engine, factory-stock. Dependable engine also, (got friend's to work).
Thank you for the detailed breakdown, nice setup!

347 C.I. and getting it done! Shows what good setup and tune will do. Thanks for sharing, Kyle. 🤙

Can you do a video on your dry sump system, all its components and how it is plumbed? I'd like to make something similar. Thanks.
Great basic set-up
Go the Little Henry 🚀
Kyle and crew, y'all rock! Love the channel and content. Peace 🤘
Keep Up the Awesome Content!!!
Looks like a nice turbo SBF build. Mustangs are fun.
Nice work. Crazy what you've squeezed out of that engine.
So thankful for ford content
Great' straight forward information. Enjoyed your video, Kyle Cheers IDA.

Your videos are getting better. Honesty wins.
Well Kyle, you're sure getting a LOT, from a little !!
Appreciate you being honest.

The majority of racers earn far less than that and still somehow get by. You are foolish if you think the average racer nets 55-60k
Thanks for sharing!
KYLE congratulations on the 30 of 30 award.
Good job buddy! SBF Power same here I’ve got a BDS blown 331 just down the road from you in Holland.
Love seeing this!!! Thanks for sharing Kyle!!
Solid , honest information. Thanks.
Love your work. Great job
Gotta Agee sing “realistic” everyday racer content s always a good thing. Love the Ford as well.
Great video.
Thanks for the great videos. And oil pan with a kick out would be nice.
Don’t think that’s necessary as he runs an external dry sump tank that holds the majority of the oil.
@danmyers9372 I ment a kick out that has a crank scraper for windage..
great video & advice on parts selection. you might want to magnaflux that crank. :)

Great stuff Kyle.

Excellent video!
Kyle you have had great success with the coating on the pistons . Is it worth trying on your main bearings .
