No way am I as skilled as you guys but I always had this yen to get into servicing computers while they were a lot simpler, as opposed to getting into running or using them. This was a delight! The idea you did with using a piece of paper as your reoair/parts filing system as you work is GREAT! Never thought if that! You may have actually created a monster here. Omg, coukd the universe survive yet ANOTHER "sort-and-destroy" type in your ranks? We'll see...

When resetting old technology, only delete the data but never reset the hard drive as that consumes a lot of core power that the drive might not even have anymore.

It was a lot easier to pass those classes than a regular Elementary School for some reason I don't know I guess the teachers really care more about you know their third and fourth graders and then a fifth grade I went back to a normal Elementary School and we didn't have shit like that we didn't have computers that I can remember we had to go to the library that was in the school. Military school of elementary school was a lot more fun we had more field trips we had more activities the teachers had more Privileges and more access to fun stuff like we had a McDonald's right next to the school and we would get random Awards or we just all walk over to the McDonald's chaperone by one of our teachers and our teacher would buy us cheeseburgers from McDonald's it was easy School I believe it was intended for Native Americans and I think that's what made it even more fun because nobody knew that it was really the discipline Native Americans through boot camping but it provided us technology and provided us with things that like you don't find in regular schools like we had a gift shop and every week you know you can go down to the shop down there and you could spend your points from just anything like I don't remember exactly how we got points but it was like money and I wish all schools were like that man like it was rough sometimes though they really burn you out or their activities like a set aside all the good stuff all the other stuff like running miles every day I was tired running around in a circle between two trees was like what's the point of that and then doing squats I hated that shit I'm so happy I got out of that school but now I look back and I'm just like maybe it wasn't so bad maybe we had more opportunities there then we would normally get from a regular Elementary School and we are the first school to have air condition in our buses even though I never took the bus I remember these computers from those days they really made our child life and childhood exciting and amazing and I wonder if kids these days after or has it been forgotten I went to my old high school I didn't go inside I just stopped by to look at it and it didn't feel the same it felt like the school has been beat up the principal doesn't care about taking care of the school and keeping the paint nice and air look like a damn prison man the gate was so high I said did that gate always exists and then I realized no it didn't they erected it like my second year because it was close to neighborhood and I guess a lot of students skipped fun memories fun memories man I remember those computers I like mac a lot I like Apple a lot and I've had all of them I've had every single one of them.
I tried to replace the hard drive on my clamshell and it was a complete nightmare. In the end I took it to a repair shop who replaced the drive with a 7200 rpm dive and the computer was much faster. My clamshell was the SE edition so it was much better than my fist one.
Could be interesting seeing is skill with screwdriver, but we all know that if he do this, something is telling me he’s gonna screw up somehow ( tell me if you get it 😂😂😂)
You should have installed an SSD, my brother. I acquired a clamshell iBook SE (non-FireWire) a couple of weeks ago, and went a bit nuts with upgrades. I installed a 64 GB Compact Flash card for a hard-drive, 576 MB of RAM and an AirPort card, but I also replaced the stock CD-ROM drive with a DVD-ROM drive, modded the lid to make the Apple logo glow (all you need to do is remove a sticker covering the cut-out in the interior of the lid) AND made the screen bezel translucent (just remove the white metal shield under the bezel). I'm so happy with how my clamshell iBook G3 turned out.
I'd get one in orange, or maybe green. I love this particular computer because it was one of the rare instances Apple was using ACTUAL COLOR on things. Now its either black, or white. Unless you want to shell out extra for friggin PINK (its pink, trust me) 2022 me here: wow this comment aged horribly as i watched the launch of the M1 iMacs XD
While it isn't very common, there are a few modern IDE SSD's that are sold. I know that a company called KingSpec has like 32 and 64 GB models which would be perfect for one of these clamshells!
I've found that the fans really are not that loud in comparison to the loud, dying HDD's in these iBooks. Of course a newer HDD would be quieter but if you're going to go through the effort of opening one of those, might as well put in silent hardware that will last much longer.

iTek yes but the fans of the computer make louder higher frequency noise and cancle out the HD’s almost completely
