You literally can't win with some people. Athena yells "TREMBULLL!" like a mustache-twirling Saturday morning cartoon villain, and Wuk Lamat doesn't yell "SPHEEENE!" loud enough.
TREMBULLL was amazing, though. Wuk Lamat in this scene had to have been a spectacular failure of voice direction, or spliced in from a different scene or asked to record the lines without context to avoid spoilers or _something._ She doesn't raise her voice at _all._ Not when she's breaking through a distortion shouting a dynamic entry, not when she's getting crushed under a giant hand, not when she's desperately pleading for her only friend to remember herself. _No_ voice actor messes up _that_ bad without a lot of help.
The music is just so good, especially phase 1 (subjective). So sad the story is so crappy. Because of that, people are probably too busy complaining about bullshit moments (like Wuk randomly destroying dimernsions). Let's appreciate this track though - Soken is a master.
someone made an excelent analogy on it. when Wuk finally leaves us alone to adventure on our own. "she crawled out of our ass but left her jewerly behind" which was basically what happened, we finally had a moment of peace and quiet from her ... then we gotta go on an hunt for a bracelet that was given by ... Wuk ... of course it all comes back to her again. (then shortly after she joins us again, so even the small time we're free, we're still doing shit for her)
@teisen1895 I mean, I sure as hell was since the beginning of the game lol if you were there then you'd notice a massive difference between pre-EW and EW. Before EW we were super rare and then boom after EW they're everywhere and everyone is playing one
The first part of the BGM during the majority of the bossfight is REALLY good. As soon as the phase transition happens, we get the most dull rendition of the dullest theme and we have to deal with the furry stealing our thunder; this trial will be forever marred by this fact.
Dear lord, I hate Wuk Lamat so much. I can't believe they managed to make an already weak expansion's central character, who is debatably more important then the player themselves, such a staggeringly agitating and mary sue -esque mess, who couldn't just keep to herself and let us have a moment even at the very end. Uhg.
@@LordRoto Well, forgive me for caring about the narrative integrity of a game I've put a decade of my life into. I don't apologize for expecting excellence from a studio who has clearly demonstrated that they are capable of it, and I don't apologize for my vitriol towards the slop of Dawntrail. Sorry I'm not able to turn my brain off and just enjoy the bright lights and pretty colors, but FFXIV can and should be great as it has shown us it can be, and complacency towards it's current state will not lead to that improvement.
Tell me you only started paying attention to the plot during Shadowbringers without telling me you only started paying attention to the plot during Shadowbringers. 😂 Every other expac besides ShB and EW the WoL isn't the character driving the plot forward, us reacting to foreign political leaders and getting swept up in their antics is like 85% of the game that isn't Ascians or Allegans. IMO Dawntrail was a good way to reset the scope of the story and bring in a BUNCH of new lore/characters while not falling into the pitfall of having our Extremely Overpowered Player Character feel like they got nerfed.
@@xXkrazykitsuneXx As much as I find your assertion of me, as a ten-year player whos been through the MSQ several times, mildly irksome, I do understand where you are coming from. However, you misunderstand my issue. The WoL is an effectively silent protagonist, thus having us directly drive events is very difficult, and are a largely reactive character to the events and actions of others that transpire around us. Characters like Estinien and Ysale command the plot of HW, and the likes of Hien or Lyse dominate the storytelling of SB. Things are more evenly distributed throughout ShB between the characters, but the actions of the Exarch and Emet largely dictate the plot. The WoL has always been something of a tag-along, but when push came to shove, we did shove back. We are the hero, the champion, the fighter, the adventurer. We are the main character, and thus, our actions should always be at or very close to the forefront. We took down Thordan in the Singularity Reactor, not Estinien. We were the last standing when Zenos attacked Rhalgar's Reach, not Lyse. Our accomplishments are special. Then there is Wuk Lamat, who seems to exist solely for the purpose of supplanting the WoL. She is the first to claim victory in defeating Valigarmanda. She commands the scene where she morns the loss of Zoraal Ja. And when it finally comes to face the Queen Eternal, she not only completely steals away the final cutscene, but the fight itself, summoning powers that by all rights she shouldn't possess to reenter the Interphos and dominate the scene with her presence. I dislike Wuk because she is highly reductive of us, the player, as a character and thus our investment in the game narrative as a whole. And to top it all off, she is just a poorly written character to boot. If that's not a nerf, my friend , I don't know what is.
