Keep in mind these are 1080 only, not 4k.
So if you're using 4k cameras you're going to still want one of the 4k capable models.

I love blackmagic products, but I have never looked back since switching to completey in-computer switching. The adaptability is on a whole new level.

NDI is the way to go. Why are they stuck on HDMI? Please look at the rash of NDI 4K PTZ cameras coming out and available on Aliexpress. Small churches don't have enough on the floor DSLR camera operators like the mega churches. They have an embarrassment of riches.

This looks very interesting. Currently we use the Atem Television Studio 4k, we had budgeted to upgrade to the ME2 and control surface. Wondering if this would be a better cost effective solution or if we should still go for the ME2 and surface. Still have to do some research and comparisons

If you don't need 4K, than buy the 4ME. Because of the Multiviewer, downstream keyer, stinger Transitions, dve and super sources

@@jonberg2764 I have done little to no research so far, all of our other gear is set up for the future of 4K. This new one isn't 4k compatible? If that's the case then we probably want to stick with our original plan

There should be a 4k lineup in the next few months, knowing BMD 🤷‍♂️ Or at least, I hope so. That's what we're holding out for, otherwise I'll have to go back to getting a normal video hub and separate 4k switcher

My church has just replaced with 2m/e constellation and its just purely great. Previously we are using 1M/E with fixed 1080i50 in/out. lots of problems for new equipment and scalers are troublesome. Considering the price and function, new constellation is really great for small churches. USB for propresenter is stable. If you have some extra budget on mini, constellation is definatly a good choice.

Two major turnoffs (from the onset) is the lack of XLR ins, and headphone out. I discovered that it’s common practice to have a small mixer for monitoring, so integrating Yamaha’s smallest mixer solved the mystery for me.
I do installs for churches, and for sure did not want to install another ATEM Mini due to its 3.5mm input and headphone jacks, not rack-mountable by default. Those factors are concerning in terms of longevity.

From what I understand, the program out audio replaces the source audio, so it doesn't really replace a hub.

    • @Carso201
      @Carso201 2 роки тому

Correct. The video also goes through the built in scaler, so the output format will not necessarily match the input format.

I think these presume external hardware streaming, like via RESI.

  • @graceplacenashville

Just as a reminder, these are 1080 ONLY. If you have 4k cameras, you would have to step them down. Which is totally fine for streaming, but future proofing yourself is great. We actually use our switchers for recording sometimes so its nice to have the 4k saved to our machine.

My biggest issue is that these are ALL SDI. While I understand the advantages of SDI, if you are a smaller church like ours who is using BMPCC4Ks, we now would need an HDMI to SDI converter for every camera. We would also need to buy specialized cards to send SDI out of our Presentation/Media PC, would need an external PCI enclosure and specialized card to add SDI output to our Mac Mini that we currently use to run the ATEM Software Control and Titler Live. All of our audio and video management equipment is within 15ft of each other, so for me these are a fail. Would love to see an HDMI option that is essentially a rack mountable version of the Mini Extreme ISO with perhaps dual supersources.
Of course, I'd also love to see them update their firmware to allow me to set keyframes for transitions and let the hardware handle the tweeting instead of having to do transition animations frame by frame in a macro. Imagine being able to just specify a "To" target and have the system be able to transition to that target from whatever the current value is?

I guess I am a little disappointed that they don't put NDI support directly on these. If you have NDI cameras, or other NDI capable devices, you have to buy multiple adapters. I understand that SDI is better for large amounts of inputs, but for 3 or 4, the ability to mix and match with SDI and NDI would be awesome.

I'm convinced there is a design flaw with ATEM mini pro & mini extreme. We've gone through 3 mini pros and now 2 mini extremes, HDMI outputs seem to fail after 6 months or so.

Looks like the Aux outs were removed on these models - the aux outs are simple ways to route outputs to a source such as a recorder or imag

    • @michaelhaseley3311

Any output can be used as an aux since they're independently routable. You can send any input, media source, or program to any output.

You can switch from the unit itself on the front (not ideal) or get a panel, or you can operate through software from a network connected computer 👍

This level of switcher is definitely more semi-professional. Where you have multiple items doing separate jobs.
The atem extreme still seems like a better recommended setup for volunteers and church setups as the live stream button is physically right there, the second HDMI can feed the service to the lobby TVs and the USB-C can feed Propresenter the video feed if needing IMAG in the room.
This would seem to be the most common scenario.
