Video interview with guitarist Billy Howerdel from the American rock supergroup A Perfect Circle. FaceCulture spoke with Billy about taking his TV apart as a kid, picking up the guitar, Randy Rhoads and other early influences, dissecting songs, a holiday to Amsterdam, the first songs he wrote, writing on piano, muscle memory, how he works with Maynard James Keenan, Cato from Pink Panther, controlling your ego, the song Eat The Elephant, learning from each other, the live shows, connecting with a crowd, reactions from fans, future plans and ASHES dIVIDE, and a lot more! Brother,..I'm a self respecting mooseician.."Gee-tar"...I was fortunate enough to stumble on "13th(thirteenth)step on tape in prison!!!......just happened to be in "A.S.A.T"(A,.lcohol S.ubstance A.buse T.reatment dorm),I damn near singlehandedly sparked a renaissance!!.. gave a concert with my soul brother on vox,started getting good at sketching .. influenced other guys to come out the art closet,was good to foster guys who became exceptional!!!.....one cat made a living through his tattoo designs and styles,and eventual applications!!!" From rags to riches". and even got "the v.i p treatment " teaching guitar to a die- hard gang member on Sunday morning staff let me go down to gym music room, .....that album "smoked my boots"!!!... All kinds of textures and interval phrasing!!!... Could appease an angry diehard metal head... To a peace loving hippie,to an art rockers wet dream!!!... Not to mention inmates of every race and creed!!!;.. "good times"!!... It's a very rewarding,and satisfying feeling to" spread the gospel".... So to speak!!!..... We had a packed dorm!!.. sold out show!!!... Standing room only!!!...plus I had the pleasure of pissing off a small handful of "for the time being" racists... With my singer being a black guy n all,....boy he had soul in his voice and was extremely versatile,with all that "thirteenth steppin"album he heard in that dorm!!!... Couldn't leave him a choice!!!😁.....your talented dude!!... I especially like how you and Maynard collaborated on the tunes!!!!!...."helluva recipe"!!!!
Perfect Song? Already written. Was just sharing with my friend yesterday, that I want ‘So Long, Thanks for all the Fish’ to be played at my funeral. … Apart from that, this song really helps me out on days, just feels like “carpe diem”. You wanna savour the moment (whatever that feels like) cos it could one of the last you feel.
The Hollow Live was the first song I heard and I was blown away. So long and thanks for all the fish is awesome. They're bad arse musicians and song writers. 👍
Billy sir, sorry to hear about your goldfish. Sympathy card and tetras en route. Hands down, one of the best damn composers we will experience in our lifetime! Very thankful to hear his art. Hoping for some new ashes divide in the future! Will be apc fan for life. Thank you Billy!

I was hoping the interviewer might bring up Paz a bit, their badass bassist off their 1st album and how anytime that videos played everyone can't wait to watch Paz drop that bass, throw that long hair up in a bun, get a quick sip of H20, grab that pick from her mouth and come back in a few bars later flawlessly, without missing a fucking beat!!! I've heard somewhere or read that during that 1st tour fans wanted Paz to do that shit again on stage, and Maynard said something like "doing it one time is difficult enough!!"
He's been talking about doing another Ashes Divide album for about a decade.
