My dad was a mechanical engineer and we lived on a small farm. When he helped friends and neighbors with projects and things didn't come out perfect ...he would say..."can't see it from my house!"
Evan, I have watched you wire several different things and you are a electrician. You may not have a license, but you are a electrician. Good job on the light.
Anytime I climb a ladder that is against something round, utility pole, up a tree to cut limbs etc. I always take a ratchet strap up with me and secure the ladder to the pole/tree. It works great to stabilize the whole thing so you can work freely without having to hold the ladder from sliding around on the surface.
You did an awesome job! I did a similar dusk to dawn lamp setup, albeit on a much smaller scale, but all that hard work is worth it when you see the fruits of your labor. Greetings from Texas!
For some reason this is one of my favourite episodes. Your professionalism, not only with installing the light, but presenting and editing the video, makes it stand out. I was listening with head phones in, as I was sitting in my yard, and my neighbour is playing music. God, the drilling noise nearly gave me heart attack! Look forward to see how your hay harvest will be.
Grate video! Looking forward to see more videos! Hope y'all get to clean the back side of the barn this summer! Y'all did a grate job with the front part of the barn , !
Future reference, use the rope that raises the ladder, wrap it around the pole then tie to your rungs making sure its parallel to the ground. Thatll keep the ladder in place. (I used to be a cable tech and thats how we did it)
Funny how strange all the electrical components seem to me, being all used to only seeing the stuff used in Norway/Scandinavia. I also work with automation. (In industry and in HVAC systems) I like how you spesify that you're NOT at electrition. There are alot of people who dont know what automation even is. Although it's almost everywhere these days. Love your content 😁 Cant wait fore some warmer weather here in Lofoten. Barely touched 10C (or 50F) degrees outside so far. I'm kind of jealous 😜
Nice video . Would have be nice to see you make the connection of the wire from the light to the underground cable running from your fuse box . That part would have very interesting to see . I was hoping to see that .
Hi Even I just subscribed to your channel I enjoy the videos your homestead I live in a town in Connecticut and always loved the country thanks for sharing
Remember doing similar in the 1960s. My uncle Stan used a car battery, a car cooling fan , a generator and a headlight. I think the switch was off a car too.
Nice job Evan! Very much enjoy your videos. I can definitely relate to a lot ways you go about a project. Especially regarding the garden. You keep making them, I’ll keep watching them! Greetings from western CT !
Good job Evan. That light will be really nice out there and the electrical plug will be very handy. Thanks for sharing with us, it’s looking real good around there. Fred.
Another great video, Evan. I really enjoy watching you knock off items from the to do list. Like someone else mentioned, you may not have an electrician's license, but you certainly know what you're doing. Keep up the good work.
Word to the wise you should check the light to make sure it work just spent the weekend installing a new light just bought hung it 16 ft up and the light wouldn't,come on got a new bulb still wouldn't work had to take light all down and get another new light and YES IT WAS A FULL MOON didn't know it at the time
I let my pole light go when the power co. upped the rent and have gone to solar pathway lights . That light was drawing that late night visitor crowd checking to see if we are home. That pole is a good place for trail camera to keep an eye on things.
Very nice work as usual. We have similar backgrounds, though I never got a degree. My education came from serving in the Navy. I'm no electrician either but I would say that you did a fine job with the pole, light and receptacle.
Smart work. I like the forethought of the switch and a plug. I am sure both will come in handy. May not want that thing burning money in the summer time when it is light outside till nearly 9:00. nice work. on the trench work.... my dad always says... there a lot of heat in a shovel handle. (never cold long if you are using a shovel) :-)
I am watching every single episode of your Country View Acre’s. I do have a question: are you a qualified ELECTRICIAN? You are very good at all things on your small-holding! Love your show Evan & Rebecca. Russell (Nottingham, England) yes, Robin Hood County!
i don't think the deer scare off by lighting , 1 have a garage up in a wooded area on the rear of my property with lights that come on at night with motion (so when i'm up there at night i can get in the roll up door) well i also have security cams and i pick up deer , sometimes 7 at a time up there eating and running around chasing each other around the garage.
Nice work and nice video! Your electrical work is perfect. Just as a licensed electrician would do. I live near a town that did a horrible electrical job with their street lights (non sunlight resistant wire exposed without any conduit)
Evan, It looks like that light is a fluorescent light. I would switch that to an LED, less power usage and you can get some bright LED's that work well to 40 below and will last longer. Love the video's, keep them coming! :)
New to your channel. Love it! One suggestion... You might think about putting a #6 solid copper ground wire up to the light. It can be just stapled to the pole and terminated on one of the lag screws mounting the light. Drive an 8ft ground rod at the base of the pole and clamp the wire to it. I have installed th is kind of light for years and find they are hit by lightning fairly often. The ground wire can save you a lot of ruined electrical appliances as it can bleed off most lightning strikes. May never happen, but better safe than sorry! have a great day!
I think that light is a bit dim for the application, also it's pointing in the wrong direction, if this was my place i would put a LED floodlight, facing the direction of the equipment, I'd have that light controlled by a switch on the pole, and I'd keep that other light where it is, on a "dusk till dawn" auto switch, to give lighting to the general area. As an electrician I've designed lighting solutions for many farms and industrial properties, good luck, I like what you are doing to your place. I wish you all the best.

I enjoy your videos. You have one of the nicest, neatest farms on UT.
Hi..... Evan, thank you for sharing your video homestead 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 🎥👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing as I’ve often wondered what you did for a living. Always enjoy your channel.
Your thoroughness is an inspiration.

Great job. Thank you for a very nice presentation.
Nice you got that off your list. Every little bit is motivating !!
Well,I believe there’s nothing you can’t do,or won’t try. So happy to see you get done with that light, God bless you and watch over you.
Thank you for explaining your job . Your safety concerns has made me think more about doing jobs properly.
Another great video Evan. A lesson in efficiency.
Enjoyed your video and it's content. Appreciate your attitude, perspective and your sharing. Thanks to you and your wife. Blessings to you. ☝🙏👍👉...

Well done I give you A+
May GOD Bless You Two All Always Amen MGBYAAA 😎
I should have watched the whole video before messaging you, my apologies. Great show Evan & Rebecca

Good job! I am going to do the same project. I wish the outdoor outlet box could handle the elements. the plastic ones will break in a few years.
Nice to have light when and where it's needed.
You did an awesome job! I did a similar dusk to dawn lamp setup, albeit on a much smaller scale, but all that hard work is worth it when you see the fruits of your labor. Greetings from Texas!
Glad to see this project from start to finished. It looks like you had it well planned out and that made run smooth.

To secure your ladder at the top of the pole take a short piece of rope 1/2 or 3/8 diameter tie the top of the ladder to the pole. John
Grate video! Looking forward to see more videos! Hope y'all get to clean the back side of the barn this summer! Y'all did a grate job with the front part of the barn , !
That was some hard work. The light looks great. 👍🏻

I enjoy your videos here at the Netherlands...
well hell man i was wanting to see where you hooked the wires up
Nice job👏🙂🙃❤️

Stay well.

Evan very nice installation.

Great job! You guys will love having that light! 🔆 I think you are an electrician 😃
Nice job Evan! Very much enjoy your videos. I can definitely relate to a lot ways you go about a project. Especially regarding the garden. You keep making them, I’ll keep watching them! Greetings from western CT !

Greetings from Northwestern CT!
Love the videos you all post. Entertaining and educational.
Good job!!
Nice
You answered my question 😊
I thought you were going to say you were bringing in a huge industrial electric magnet. Now that would be cool. Awesome viewing cheers
Good job
Nice job!
Tie the ladder on a few spots!!
It's safer!!
Good job Amigo!
👊💥🇲🇽
Can you give us a parts list ? And how to wire this up ?
Good job Evan. That light will be really nice out there and the electrical plug will be very handy. Thanks for sharing with us, it’s looking real good around there. Fred.

Thanks Evan I held my breathe while you climbed the ladder....lol
Very nice work as usual. We have similar backgrounds, though I never got a degree. My education came from serving in the Navy. I'm no electrician either but I would say that you did a fine job with the pole, light and receptacle.
Do you have a link to where you bought this light or can tell us the name of the manufacturer? Maybe you said it, but I Missed it. Thanks
I just bought it at menards. Not sure of the brand.
@@CountryViewAcres thank you, that put me in the b the right direction.

That light looks like a mercury vapor light great job there Young Man 😎
its cfl not mercury vapor

Russell (Nottingham, England) yes, Robin Hood County!
Thank you
Hi which type of bulb i can use , i love the one that are daylight, thanks in advance
What make and model of light was that - been looking everywhere for that size. I can't find it.
I am not being critical but I was wondering why not an LED light? Love your videos and have learned a few tips from you. Thanks
They were sold out. I would prefer LED.
It would be great to know the specs on the light, ie. make and wattage. You did do a good job of install.
I’d agree brother
Still curious about where you get your grapes for wine
Look good to me
Computer Integrated Mfg......hmmmm.....you a Boilermaker?

Remember kids: drill first, check for level, second.
Nice product placement there... I hope Coke stepped up and kicked you something... LOL

Learn how to strip romex right and square off your wires in the panel. After what I've seen over the years, Farmers should hire Electricians.
@@mycomputer87, Yeah, and we wouldn't have anything to eat. Farmers do just fine doing what they do.
Generally those are not flourecents like you might have in a ceiling. Ours ran for as long as the barn it was mounted on stood (decades).
i would have replaced it with a nice ITT 175w mercury vapor nema head or something like it
New to your channel. Love it! One suggestion...

So Evan, considering the wire was already buried to the post what would an electrician charge to install everything from the wire up?? Ballpark figure
Had a somewhat similar job done but on a tree about 15ft higher and was 575.00, everything included.
august thanks 😊
Thx
When are your Country View Sweart Shirts going on sale?
By the way, Hello from
White Haven, PA.
Where did you get the pole?
I think that light is a bit dim for the application, also it's pointing in the wrong direction, if this was my place i would put a LED floodlight, facing the direction of the equipment, I'd have that light controlled by a switch on the pole, and I'd keep that other light where it is, on a "dusk till dawn" auto switch, to give lighting to the general area. get a high quality 250w mercury vapor flood instead, they last much longer than a led and throw out lots of light
Have you ever worked at Timet on their electronics
I think you should have put your 12 guage light wire in conduit. The yellow wire coating is not meant for outdoor use
You must have not the whole video. All the wire is in conduit.
Any plans to paint the barn?
Yes, but not sure when. It might be a while.
Evan, as long as your panels are sealed nice and tight nothing should get into them. Especially those nasty nope ropes.
I watched your review on the Pit Boss , is it economical to use? I know they've gotten popular.
