In my opinion this is the ideal race car: open wheel single seater small lightweight with decent aero and a screaming (very) high revving v12 mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Pure perfection.

Well they changed the rules for both safety and fuel regulations. From what I know it uses a tiny V6 and must meet the 25 liters of fuel an hour regulation. Likely 20 miles to the gallon if I had to guess. V12s like these are fuel thirsty and are double the displacement of your normal 2.6L v6
@@treasuredowning8946 V12's weren't excluded due to changing regulations, they simply fell out favor, due to V10's being less thirsty and offering the same power. Ferrari used V12's till the end of 95.

Senna achieved immortality by piloting this F-1. Everyone remembers Ayrton when they see this Mclaren. It was in that year that he won the Brazilian GP, with only sixth gear in the final laps. Surreal!
In my opinion, this is the last great looking F1 car. To elaborate, this is the last F1 car to not look like it has a phallic front. Also the last F1 car to not be sprinkled with aero elements all over the place. It just looks great, because it looks so straightforward and raw.

O problema é que quando comecei a gerar um interesse por F1 ( la pros meus 7 aninhos de idade ), quem era o "melhor" daquela época era o Schumacher, então por isso tenho o carro dele como primeira lembrança de fórmula 1. Mas os carros de Ayrton Senna estão na minha lista dos meus carros favoritos da F1, como a Lotus 98t e a Mclaren Mp4/8. Inclusive o meu favorito é a Brabham Bt52 de Nelson Piquet.

This was peak-F1 for me - before active suspension, flappy paddles, driver aids, grooved tyres, when they had steering wheels instead of playstation controllers... I was a mad-keen F1 fan back then, and thought I would be for life, but the v6 hybrids were the final nail in the coffin for me, haven't watched an F1 race since Rosberg won the championship (2016, I think).
Should've stacked an onboard camera on it; we've haven't had onboarf footage of the MP4/6 in years considering how frequent it shows up on events like these, I don't know why?

Seriously. I always thought it's less cool nowadays knowing there is an offsite technology control centre making the decisions instead of the drivers just eyeballing things. Feels more like a corporate job than an intense sport. Some people like it. But I prefer motor racing to be raw.
