  • Tying Assist cords to hooks for Tuna Jigging.
    Product used:
Jigging Master 11/0 Monster Jigging Hook
Owner Solid Ring rated 900lbs size#?
    Kevlar Assist Cord - 350kg
Jig is a Hot's Drift Tune 240g Sardine
Fellow anglers, this is my first "to-do" video. Just made to help others tie their own setups and feel satisfaction from tying and catching tuna on their own customized stuff!
I eventually decided to put this length jig/cord on the SMITH Ltd. JackKnife-R 300g jig instead of the Hot's.
    Enjoy!

I like the twist idea keeping it as "1" line.

*Perfect size hook for hatchery catfish that weigh between 3-5 lbs. my lip hook almost all the time unless your bait is very much desired by the fish **allabout.wiki/1004** It's very durable made from hardened steel, I believe. You can use it over and over. It never rusts in my tackle bag. I use a knot less snell with a 25 lb mono filament leader line from Kastking for this hook. Its point is very sharp and can easily land a thieving fish. We landed many catfish with this hook. Best purchased in packs of 25 which should last you throughout the season.*

I keep things simple as well. Even with my slow pitch jig assist hooks I'll use just a triple uni for each hook and then double wrap the solid ring. I like the 100-250lb JM soft Kevlar cord with JM violent slow pitch hooks for lighter jigs and the 350lb JM Monster 16 PE assist cord with JM Monster jigging hooks on anything say 250g and up.

@BuoyzToyz I suggest dropping some super gel glue on the half hitches. They dont tend to unravel but when they do the knot holds at the top. The proper way to enter the eye is through the front. When the hook pulls it is aligned properly. :)

nice job! thanks for sharing. Do you usually use one or two assist hooks..and why? If you use two, do you use different length?

Nice, how did you keep the line from untwisting, with the superglue?

bakersystem, try a jigging rod in the 150g rating. I have built a Spinalrodscom 150 blank. It loads very well and parabolic. If you are looking for faster action there is a nice Smith WGJ 52M spiral that is sweet!

Hi, I have a hard time finding the right size Kevlar line. I want to use size 6 hooks so I think only 200 lbs Kevlar would fit through the eye. Can anyone tell me where I can order the line? Thanks.
