- Abbott recently announced a number of important upgrades to their FreeStyle Libre CGM system. These will impact users of FreeStyle Libre 2, FreeStyle Libre 3 and those of you who are considering to use continuous glucose monitor along with an insulin pump, such as Tandem or Omnipod, to create a closed loop and benefit from automated insulin delivery.

The #1 problem with cgm are medicines and other things that ruin the accuracy.. can we discuss.
I love my Free Style Libre! I am a type 2 diabetic, but am extremely insulin resistant. A CGM has educated me on what lifestyle changes I have had to make to be healthy and I am keeping my A1C at 5.9.
I don't understand why Abbott still hasn't made a widget so we don't open the app and also make it possible to see the numbers on a smartwatch. I think it's unacceptable
I agree. All these upgrades are coming up and still it won't be compatible with smartwatch or have a widget ☹️
That’s exactly what I came here to say. I have to go through three apps to get a readout from my Libre 3 on my Apple Watch. It’s so frustrating!
I have a Garmin and use Juggluco....Amazing and it integrates with AAPS.
Lmao I sent a recommendation for them todo exactly this
..or on Android Auto and its Apple equivalent?
I have ‘fake lows’ from putting pressure on the sensor on back of arm at night. I’ve moved it to the front of my arm, better so far.
I would recommend the chest/pec area also. I find it to give more reliable readings, and I haven't had one fall off from this area in years. Best of luck.
I had the same issue. False low reading alarms had me freaking out, not to mention my diabetes team was reaching out to make sure I was fine.
Thanks for this update on libre .🎉.I only started using this year after 46 year diabetes, Have found your channel to be inspiration 🎉
Thanks so much Andy!
All I want to hear is the price has fallen 75%
In Australia they’re subsidised $15 each.
Free if you're on government concession.
I would even be happy if Libre 2 prices drop with the intro of 2+
Thanks for your videos ! The Libre system is what helped me to go into Diabetes type 2 into remission. I was diagnosed type 2 in August 2019 with an A1C of 11.9, I was put on a few diabetic medications which helped, then Endo switched to a combo medication which landed me in ER severely dehydrated with ECG changes, so I was told to stop those and given back the original ones, I changed my diet ended my nursing career while on sick leave since Oct 1st 2020, retired March 2020 (applied in Nov 2019). In January 2020 I switched my diet drastically and by end March 2020 my A1c was down to 6.5 %, by end of may my A1C was 5.8 %, all diabetic medications were stopped and I manage with diet alone since may 28th 2020. I wear a Libre which helps see my numbers in real time and if my numbers are higher change portion if still high eliminate the food in question. Now my A1C is hovering around 6.3 % but my Cortisol levels are elevated as I have autoimmune diseases, so as long as I remain below 6.5 % they will not treat the diabetes as for over 30 yrs I was known for reactive hypoglycemia and while on diabetic medications I had many hypos hence wearing a Libre, having both hypoglycemia and diabetes is tricky so a CGM reallyhelps a lot. Apparently the reactive hypoglycemia condition since my 20's is now known as pre diabetes and our A1C might only be treated at 7.0 % as I still get hypos while off medications. But any new diabetic can use a CGM and know more how their diabetes works. I hjave 18 diseases with no cure, hence a lot of inflammation hence A1C might be higher due to these inflammatory diseases. CGM have saved my life many times, the Libre 2 wakes me up at night when I go hypo. Diabetes remission is possible if at early stages of diagnosis, there is no cure, there is no reversal, but remission is considered when you are at least 6 months off diabetic medications and A1C below 6.5 %, but even if in remission, as with my other diseases, you can still have moments were the numbers go up, in my case autoimmune diseases is what causes this.
Unless you’ve fried the beta cells in your pancreas there’s absolute no truth to the assertion that T2DM isn’t, “reversible” or “curable” it’s merely insulin resistance and it may take YEARS to undo the maladaptation that created your insulin sensitivity. It’s not as if you’ve blown some fuse that can’t be replaced. The issue is many won’t reverse the condition because it’s hard work to change long established patterns your reptile brain encourages you to engage in like shoveling carbs and sugar down your gullet.
I agree that being able to use a finger stick as a calibration for Dexcom G7 is what will keep me using Dexcom. I had too many false lows and inaccurate readings when using the Libre 3.
My son has that problem with Dexcom G6, Libre 2 is much better so hoping Libre 3 with actual CGM features works for him. If it ever finally comes to Canada that is. I hope you have better luck in the future, or even better I am hoping for a cure for diabetes. One can hope.
Just for the record, the Eversense CGM lasts for 6 months, though it's implanted and not really in the same ballpark as the others you compared. I did try earlier Libre CGM and had a skin reaction to their adhesive; I'm not sure if that's changed for the better, though you say you had issues with adhesion. I envy you for having access to Ypsomed; they bought a US-based infusion set manufacturer and moved production of the Orbit infusion sets. As a result, we can't get them here anymore. I LOVED those Orbit Micro sets, 31G steel sets that rotated... awesome.
I use Libre 3, my choice as I pay for mine out of my own pocket in the US bc insurance does not cover. I do agree that being able to adjust how frequently it pings the phone would be helpful. 3 does allow me to silence alarms and I have had no problems with adhesive using Skin Tac and an alternative sight. My arms are very dry, and that causes adhesive problems, so switching sites solved that.
I really appreciate your channel. As a new Type 2 it has been very helpful getting started with the CGMs. Tried a freestyle libre 3 as a trial. Will switch to the Dexcom g7 today as they are the one my insurance will mostly cover. Your comparisons video have been very helpful!
15 days is not a huge improvement. I’d prefer to change them on the same day of the week and so prefer 14 days. If they improved them to 21 days, that would be a huge upgrade. Also, retrieving readings every minute is a HUGE battery drain on the phone. I’d prefer to be able to choose the interval manually. And I also want to be able to silence alarms. They can be very disruptive. The app doesn’t allow for manual override.
this x 1000
And the adhesive sucks…the Libre 3 severely blisters my daughter’s arm. The Libre 3s were all inaccurate too. The Dexcom accuracy blows the Libre 3 out of the water. The Libre was sometimes as much as 100 points off. She tried six of the Libre 3. Dexcom is nearly always spot on with the readings with her Contour Next One and Vario Reflect. The Dexcom calibration is a nice feature too, although she has rarely needed it. The Dexcom has never caused a skin reaction either.
1 extra day is still 1 less CGM a year.
Thanks for the update. I use the Libre 2 to monitor my type 2 and not getting real-time data was the one thing I've wanted but didn't want to spend the extra money for the 3 to get it. Looking forward to trying the new software when I change sensors. Thanks for sharing all the helpful information.
You will if you update the app for your phone. I’m on Libre 2
As @Dan23_7 said, you will get real time data is you update the app, you may also have to change some settings but FSL2 has the ability.
Doesn’t work in the USA… Our app and sensors still require us to tap to our phone for the Libre 2.
@@Dan23_7 Are you in the US? If so what app version are you on?
Thanks for the informative video! I quit using the FreeStyle Libre because the app does not allow you to mute the low glucose alarm. Several times I rolled over during the night and had the sensor fail on me which resulted in waking up to a screeching low glucose alarm (wifey was also not pleased with waking up to the alarm). When I get the low glucose alarm, the sensor is broken and does not start working again (perhaps the capillary is getting bent?). I've also caused the same failure by accidently scraping the sensor against a door jam. Anyway, the CGMs are quite fragile and never last more than a week for me. I tried to get an adhesive patch to protect them, but the one I tried gave me a severe allergic reaction to the adhesive. I'm hoping the technology will improve, or maybe I can find a better place to attach the CGM other than the back of my arm...
I've Libre 3 and agree that adjustments for calibration would be a plus. A big improvement, plus.
I'm a diabetic type 2, very informative and I enjoyed the video, thanks for the heads up about this new product freestyle libre 2 Plus, and what's upcoming in the pipeline, I'm in the panhandle of Idaho on the Montana Canadian border in Idaho.
Congratulations again, Tom. Another excellent video. To bad we only have Freestyle libre 1 in Brazil...
Thanks for all that you share! You note that you prefer to put a cover over the sensor, to reduce the likelihood of the sensor falling off/ being knocked off. I wonder, in Abbott's materials I think regarding clothing to wear with/over the sensor I came across a completely unexplained aside mention of "to let it breathe". Have you been able to learn whether in fact the sensor NEEDS "to breathe", to not be covered air-tight, etc? Or was that just a poorly worded way of the Abbott documentation emphasizing that tight clothing may make it more likely that the sensor would get tugged off sometimes (but, actually, "air" and "breathing" have nothing to do with it)? thanks!
I initially had a problem with Libre 3 sensors coming off, tried adhesive covers, wasn't happy about the adhesion or the appearance. I found a product called Skin-Tac Wipes, that apply a pre-adhesive to the skin before the sensor is applied. I have not lost a sensor in 5 months since using them. Very inexpensive on Amazon.
I love Skin-Tac. Where I live it is my best friend.
I would recommend placing them on your chest pec area, I have for years and found it more accurate, never come off, better access for placing and scanning.
I already do, works great!
@markcascio6514 Good stuff, the old 3rd nip trick works a charm. Best of luck with your T1.
Thank You so much for your great videos.
Big differences ! Good work Abbot.
But really really they need to make some changes to alarm settings, especially that limited, annoying sound options that lets everyone in the room say “whats going on with you ??”
Just tell people it is your pager.
some thing I would like from libra sensors ,is to be able to connect to smart Devis like Apple Watch ,Garmin.. When Libre
I agree. It's a pain in the butt to have to run Gluroo and Nightguard along side my Librelink app just to get the glucose data on my Apple Watch. At the very least Abbott should make a watch widget for it.
Have you tried juggluco? I've been using it with my libre 2 for a few years (Android). Have my readings in the notification bar of my phone as well as on the AOD (once again Android) and has its own watch face within the app for my galaxy watch 4. I can't imagine not having it on my wrist at all time or at a glance of my phone display.
Great job! I'd love to see it available in Brazil, today just Libre 1 with a crasy expensive price is available
My biggest issue with the Freestyle libre 2 is the compression lows, it's really frustrating to get woken multiple times a night with false low glucose alarms
I would recommend placing the FSL2 on your chest/pec area. It gives more stable and accurate readings, stays on better, and I find it easier to apply/scan
@@jimbarbwe1985 not sure that would work well for me as a woman, but I do think I’m going to have to try other unconventional placements!
You can use several locations in your body. Try one where you don't apply pressure when your sleeping. I've used a couple areas on my arms including the inside under my bicep, my thighs, my stomach & my chest/pec. I never had any overly odd readings on these areas, they are all interstitial tissue, just like your arm.
The Dexcom G7 & all the Libre versions I used have the same issue of compression lows. I finally solved it by NOT wearing the sensors on my arms anymore. Try applying on a different body part that has some fat, away from muscle & bones.
@joannem567 I've been preaching this to diabetics for quite some time now. The key, with the Libre anyways, is to not tell Abott Co that your wearing it anywhere other than your arm, if you need to call in for a replacement.
Hey! Thank you so much for your videos! It's been real helpful.
I'm starting Ramadan. I wake up early and eat food and wait until sunset to eat again. My glucose spikes to dangerous levels in the mornings.
Can you suggest what foods to eat when fasting to last all day but keep glucose levels low?
I’m also fasting and what I found helpful is avocado on toast.
Is the 2+/3+ going to replace the 2/3 or will a new prescription be required?
I'm here to hopefully hear an answer to this as well.
You would need a prescription
Available in Canada too?
Slightly off topic but can you RE-USE the freestyle sensor grey APPLICATOR device? I'm going abroad and could take a few sensors and just 1 applicator + no packaging...
Libre link app works on old Android mobile only?
How can you get Freestyle libre data with graph using Android watch? Why can't Freestyle libre have an Android watch app?
Juggluco. I've used it for a few years which allows me to see my bg in my notification bar as well as on my AOD but best seen using the app on my galaxy watch 4. Have my bg on my wrist 100% of the day. You have to side load it to both your phone and watch as its not in the play store (was a couple years ago, no longer tho). Worth a look into. Search it on Google. I can't imagine not having my bg on my wrist at all times of the day.
You can also use watch faces that allow "complications"
Has anyone tried to put the sensor somewhere else other than arm? I saw some other brand can be put on the belly or somewhere else of the body. Has anyone tried it?
Hi, have you tried the new aidex cgm? Aidex X or Aidex 2 system? It has similar features to libre 3 plus.
Would have been good to include '2 Plus' in the title. There's still a ton of things I would love to see improved on the Libre 3.
Please like this comment so that I can tell Abbott that here in Latin America (Uruguay) we need a CGM version newer than Libre 1.
I thought Canada was slow, so sorry to hear your country is even worse.
I was a kid in 80's and Michelle was very popular in Portugal. I remember watching her on the tv.
I just want to never see the "reading unavailable, try again in 10 minutes" warning on my freestyle 2 again. I feel like hassling Abbott about it.
I would recommend placing the FSL2 on your chest/pec area. It gives more stable and accurate readings, stays on better, and I find it easier to apply/scan.
I still might get the dreaded 10min warning but only if I have a really long hot shower.
Ever get the dreaded "check again in 10 hours"? It doesn't happen often, usually if I scan in a new sensor right after putting it on, I usually put my sensor on a day early so it has time to "marinate" properly, lol!
That happened to me multiple times with the Libre 2, am just starting the Libre 3 and hope to not see it !!
It might be the operating system of your phone.
Also sometimes it takes time for the fluid to fill up enough to get a reading.
All great changes but they need to make move into a display for smartwatches integrated with the app. Not a third party developer but directly from the CGM manufacturer. CGM's are great but to be able to look at my wrist while working, driving or exercising rather than looking at my phone. Thanks Tom for a great video.
Is there even a way to get the libre 2 plus to display on Apple Watch? Wasn't sure if there's not an app for it (or do we just use libre 2 app?)
I recently started using the FreeStyle Libre. But I have some issue with it. If I relax, I do not feel it. But I've been feeling continuous pain whenever I move my arm, particularly during arm stretches. I suspect it might be due to accidentally inserting the sensor into the muscle of my arm, but I'm not certain. Has anyone else experienced this issue? And will this affect accuracy?
I really hope the 2.10 update comes soon here in the US. i am really looking forward to not having to scan
Using Libre 2 but we in UK are experiencing HIGH weather temperatures. Does that effect Libre 2 I just had a meal and the Libre 2 is 20mmol/L but took a finger test and it says 13 mmol/L
Can they make the Libre3 much more reliable in connecting to the phone? Mine are constantly irritating me by losing their connection.
That is exactly why I use the reader! Never fails, whereas my phone is not that reliable.
Hi @Tomas, as an expert in this field. I'd like to ask you if you can recommend which device i should buy. I'm not diepitic any of the type. But I'd like to monitor my glucose spikes based on specific food I eat during the day and this way better understand how exactly my metabolism work. The best would be some with app and user friendly. Any idea, which product to buy? and im android user. Thanks
Is the app update for libre 2 available for the U.S.? I just got a 2 today after using G6 and the tapping to check it the main downfall for me. Im tempted to go get the G6 back today.
Could you make a video testing expired sensors? To see if they really lose accuracy with time
Thanks for sharing this review. I use the Freestyle 2 Libre and I have experienced several failures- around 7 in 14 months. Is this normal? I tried to mail Abbot about this but the email address rejected my mail.
We have only just got the second generation Libre in NZ. I imagine it will be years before we get the third.
Libre 2 still does not send measurements in Netherlands, still you need to scan :(. And indeed I do not understand why they are not integrated with Apple Health...
FreeStyle Libre works great for me, no issue. And the customer service is very good. I have an older sensor that does not work with Libre 2 and 3; what are my options?
Is it a 14 day sensor that you are trying to use?
The system before the 2 and 3
Sensor 3 phone app does not have a separate finger stick data item like previous versions of the phone app. I agree it would be nice to be able to custom calibrate the sensor to finger sticks. My experience with sensor 3 is it is always reading high and especially on the high end of a spike it can be 20-30% higher than a finger stick. I use the CGM to discover what foods give me a big spike.
Meanwhile, we're still on Freestyle Libre 1 here in the Philippines 😢
Bro don't even ask about us Indians where we are on the first generation of freestyle libre with no mobile support and insurance coverage so, they are very expensive and not practical at all...
@@zigzag-crafteryt413me too I am from Andhra Pradesh
Same in Brazil
Wow and I thought Canada was behind. So sorry for the issues you have.
@@zigzag-crafteryt413 There is mobile support bro, Im not sure but freestyle libre 2 is launching soon in India. Yourl do have the 14 day libre. Android support is still a problem. I agree that the price is steep around Rs 4k to 5k... but here in S. Africa we have the libre 2 for around R1100
Please can you let me know your experience with hemp hearts which we get in Costco is it good to eat on daily basis
Freestyle Libre 2 is not integrated with my AppleWatch. The Dexcom G6 is! No sale.
How do Read and understand my numbers
Hi Tom is there any way that I can email you. Have you seen that new blood glucose monitor the pricks your finger with a laser and what are your thoughts on it ?
FreeStyle Libre is the best on the market?
Do sensors expire if they are in a sealed box?
I think they last at least a year but I can't remember how long exactly. Every pack does have an expiration date on them somewhere. It's either printed on the box itself or the applicator.
Of course! They are battery powered.
The iPhone app is still terribly unstable. Official “support” is still only for IOS 16.2 while 17.4 was just released.
All interesting stuff, many thanks
I can't find a way to update the Libre 2 app to be able to get continuous monitoring.
There is not a way with the 2. Only the 3 gives readings automatically
Hey, what is that green clock on the shelf behind you showing your current glucose levels? How cool is that! Can I have one please?
It's Sugar Pixel. Here is a link where you can get it customtypeone.com/?ref=typeonetalks
Can I put optifiber for my drinks? I have prediabetes.
Our son uses Dexcom G6 and the sensor consistently delivers sugar values that are 1-1.5 mmol/L(18-27mg/dl) higher than his actual blood glucose. Without the possibility to calibrate FreeStyle Libre 3 does not seem to be a viable option.
Thank you for this information. I am looking forward to trying out Libre 2 version 10 for true CGM capability. Yes, accuracy has always been my biggest bugbear with the Libe. 2. Abbott seems to have a complete block when it comes to allowing calibration. Being able to do that would end most of the problems I have with Libre 2.
I have found a couple of things that help with FSL2 accuracy, one is placement, I would recommend placing the FSL2 on your chest/pec area. It gives more stable and accurate readings, stays on better, and I find it easier to apply/scan.
I would also recommend applying each FSL2 for 24 or 48 hours before scanning them for the first time starting them running, this helps with your inflammatory response that can bugger up your reading.
Hope this helps.
@@jimbarbwe1985Hi. I have the Libre 3. Do you think women can also put this on our chests? And do you think like maybe a few inches in from say, where the underarm is? Thanks. Looking to solve compression lows at night. It is always more accurate than g6 for me, especially in the last year.
I have type 2 and use libre 3 but I need to see the values not a graph that is unreadable. I’m evaluating skin grip and that grip wipe since my sensors got ripped off or came lose.
But I need a daily high and low value. Or see them I’m trying to evaluate foods and drinks. Due to injury my metabolism has lowered which means my sugar soar unless I figure out how to increase my exercise level but if I do that I re-injure myself. Frustrating… I only get values if I constantly check my phone.
Also I need to turn off blue tooth at times but then phone screams. I wish it would just connect to my iwatch. Or upload later. Insuace won’t pay for decom sensor.
15 day?! 😅 I'm lucky if more than 1/3 of those I apply last longer than 7-8 days before I get an error message telling the sensor is no longer functioning - and that I need to removed, and replace it. Same event code every time. For 3.25 years straight. They always send a replacement, but it's annoying to have to call so frequently.
Don't you need to cut or poke a hole in the patch before covering a CGM?
Okay so this is only about Libre 2 Plus. Was hoping the existing Libre 2 had some improvements too😅
I'm moving to Austria, are free freestyles 100% reimbursed at the pharmacy like in France?
I think that in all countries of Europe, libre is reimbursed. I'm greek and our insurance covers the cost
Would you be willing to consider doing a review for healthy soda? I love soda, and it's difficult for me to wean myself off of it. Currently, a few of the "Healthy" soda brands are Green Cola, Zevia, Olipop, Allusoda, Reed's Zero Sugar, and Virgil's Zero Sugar.
Can you put the libre 3 anywhere besides the back of the arm, when I sleep and rollover on it the alarm goes off as low gluco...😢
You can try inside of your arm under your bicep, chest, stomach, thigh.... any of these areas that don't get pressure when u sleep. Its all interstitial tissue just like the back of your arm. Just don't tell Abbot that you had it anywhere other than your arm if you need to contact them for a replacement.
Three - out of the last six Freestyle Libre 3 sensors I have used FAILED, all with the same symptom. They read low during the first ten days of use and then suddenly showed a constant 54 mg/dL with that awful, unstoppable alarm. I turned off Bluetooth while I slept and 9 hours later it was still reading 54 after I ate. My finger stick was 108 before eating and 176 after breakfast and still 54-60 on the sensor. Abbott sent replacements for all three so far, but don't seem to have a path to recording the fact that there appears to be a QA problem. Customer service said they have no way to report multiple failures per user. I hope that when I am sending them back they see a pattern. All three sensors that failed had no error message.
You sent them back? Any time I had a bad sensor they just send a new one. I'm curious what type of proof they ask you for when you claimed the sensor was faulty (screenshots, video?). Whenever I have a faulty sensor I just say I knocked it off and they send a new one. Makes things easier.
Probably the operating system of your phone making the app incompatible with your phone
@mygt8a4re they might ask you to send the sensor back and get some information from your reader or app but that's it. Along with the sensor serial number
I dont even use the full timespan in my G7 because readings get really inaccurate, how is it here?
I used to get 14 days on the G5 with accuracy till day 14 normally. g6 is solid at 10 days but the first day or two can be very wrong off by 100 or more points. my dr wants me to go to the g7 but I was concerned about lasting accuracy.
I used Libre for years but as I improved my glucose control, the fake lows became unbearable! As was the inability to calibrate. I honestly don't undertand why they can't implement at least some sort of app side calibration feature! We tried it with my daughter now and it just sucks, as she is keeping her blood glucose at basically prediabetic levels now! At those levels, it's inaccuracy is completely unacceptable (and mind you, I'm talking about the Libre3 here!) So until those issues get taken care of in a truly meaningful way, it's a no unless you have no other option for me!
I used five freestyle 3 Sensors now and 4 had errors. Dunno but thats not an upgrade.
No sign of Libre 3 or 2 plus in Australia
We're a bit slow here.
@@derekhobbs1102 just a little
So does the libre 2 work on the libre link app because i’ve been using the actual libre 2 app
I thought libre link was for your health care team to remotely look at your levels.
No libre link is for a different sensor and libre link up is for the hcp
have the brand new galaxy phone .. and the latest 3 models don't work with the app.
is it just me? I am very curious what phone you are using. this is very thin.
Well, I'd like to see more choices on the alarm sounds too, so that just by sound we can tell the difference between the different alarm warnings. Abbott still seems a bit slow to get these upgrades out. For it didn't take much to extend the sensor by one day, or to make the phone app so that you didn't have to scan the sensor. What I'd really like to see is a reader that speaks! I am blind, and would love to see the Libre reader speak out the readings. Talking technology is everywhere now, so why did Abbott overlook this? Inexcusable in my opinion.
Why are you talking about 8.2% MARD for 2 Plus when version 3 is 7.9%?
Because it's a better MARD than the standard 2 which is an upgrade for those still using the 2
The real time connection on the Libre 2 is very problematic. It's not just an Android or iOs issue as the sensor tends to lose connection from Bluetooth frequently, leading to signal loss alarms. The recommended solution from Abbot about cycling your Bluetooth or powering your phone off and on simply doesn't work to resolve and is only a temp measure . They have a major bug in their software
I was using libre for a while but then got changed to dexcom one it was better than libre sensor then one time went to change the sensor and it was dry blood as well it looked like a rash on my arm plus it was only staying on for a few hours and now I'm back using libre 2 sensors
another device I wont be able to buy in the uk like the 3 model. i dont get why the only sell to the nhs with their newer tech
Make those sensors cheaper, so more people can use them… about 120 Euros for two sensors a month is too expensive for diabetes 2 patients.
When will Libre 3 be compatible with IOS 17
it is now already at least with me :)
I have been running it on iOS 17 for a couple weeks. Actually currently running it on the 17.4 public beta.
I would like to see more compatible phones!!
So the Libre 2 has made a massive move from the very convenient 14-day life to the quite inconvenient 15-days.
One extra day.
Whoopidoo.
It will probably NEVER come to my country :( we haven't gotten the 3, yet.
My sensor reading 2:32 is always higher than blood
Because bgm is more accurate because it uses blood. The sensor does not use blood to get glucose levels it uses fluid. There is an expected difference.
My biggest problem is that they need more phone models that you can use. I have to use the reader and it sucks. And i don't have diabetes but have reactive hypoglycemia that is just as dangerous yet mt insurance won't cover it. Not that's the fault of Abbott but over the counter price ranges from $32 to $800. That's insane.
Abbott should focus on inhaled insulin…afrezza isn’t a big enough company for the push for this which would be game changing for T1D
I so bad want to try afrezza. Is it available to get at all pharmacies in the U.S.? Would be great if more companies made an inhaled insulin.
I wish there were sensor implants that lasted 6months
Wish they approved to wear on stomach, I have no fat on arms so when I tried on arms it was not accurate at all or comfortable
Have you tried wearing it on the top of your thigh? My Dexcom G6 is super accurate here 😊
Unfortunately or fortunately I really don’t have any fat on my legs either - only on belly area.
@EdBell12 If you find it's comfortable and accurate wearing on your stomach, then go with that. Dexcom G6 isn't approved in the UK for wearing on thigh but experience has shown it's more accurate for me, so that's where I'm putting it 👍
Have you tried placing the FSL2 on your chest/pec area. It gives more stable and accurate readings, stays on better, and I find it easier to apply/scan.
Ketone measurement is a lifestyle addition - not for ketoacidosis but for "keto diet" aficionados. I'm not sure how useful their implementation will be for T1s
Hello sir I'm from India
15 days isn’t an improvement.
Also, I went though two Libre sensors in a row that wouldn’t scan from my phone. Peeling those off were maddening.
I always started the sensors with Abbott reader, then used phone after that, otherwise, if you have an update on mobile, it can render it useless as a reader.
Irritating that their app for Libre 3 doesn't work on a device that they say is compatible. The sensor I bought is useless.
Freestyle Libre sensors are shit. I've been using for the last few years and they constantly crash and malfunctioning and I'm sick and tired of calling their help line for replacement sensors. The last one actually drew blood when inserted in my arm. I am now looking for an alternative!
Really? What FSL are you having problems with 1,2 or 3. What issues are you having? Yea, the helpline is... Well it feels like you are talking to a brand new employee that hasn't a clue what the company does.
I have had a few bleeders but maybe 1 out of 30 might bleed.
Not sure if it will help in your case but I highly recommend placing the FSL2 on your chest/pec area. It gives more stable and accurate readings, stays on better, and I find it easier to apply/scan.
Also, apply but do not start each FSL sensor for 24-48 hours before you need it, this helps with inflammation issues that can bugger up readings.
@@jimbarbwe1985 I'm using the Libre. The problem is usually the sensor won't get past the start up process, once the 60 minutes has passed and I try to scan instead of giving me a reading it just begins the the star up process all over again and I eventually have to replace the sensor. The other common issue is that it will just stop reading the sensor sometime into the 14 days of wearing it. Your idea of placing sensor on my chest is a non starter as mine is like an Amazon rainforest, but I appreciate your input! 👍
Libre 2 does warn you that it is ending.... Quite clearly. As for not starting up, I can't emphasize as I've never had that issue in the many years of using libre. Could it be "operator error"?
I use the FSL3 and love it. I like 14 day wear times as I always change on Saturday which is most convenient for me. It's imperative to soak the sensor 24 hours before activating. I start the sensor with Libre software and then force quit the software and switch to Juggluco and use the associated app to connect to my Garmin Watch AND AAPS. It's been a game changer. All open source. Unfortunately, I live in the US AND have insurance but have to pay for my own CGMs...FSL3s are expensive but cheaper than the rest. Try other software if the Libre doesn't work for you. I'm using Android of course for AAPS. Another game changer for me.
Now if you can just teach Walgreens to keep the darn things in stock so we don't have to wait for them to get an order in.
A lot of pharmacies run out of them, so damn popular now! You'd think the stocking system would be better in terms of "min - max" on these due to their popularity. It makes me nuts when I can't them at my pharmacy!
Because of insurance!
