This can help, but to anyone wondering if there is something else to do to help remove distortion, experiment with reducing treble. That is what helped me.
Thanks, I just edit one of my favourite cover I like to listen to. It's perfect in every way except the audio clipped and I have no way of rerecording it since the artist probably would not have time to rerecord a whole song he maid many years ago just for me. This video help reduce the distortion a bit, even though it's still present, every little bit helps!
Thanks. I recorded the sound for my wedding but the gain was a little too high on my mic and the music clipped a bit. Running it now in the hopes that will fix it.
Thanks, I didn't know Audacity had anything like that! But... Graphic correction I saw in another video (reducing the loudness around 1400Hz) gives a much better sound.
I just wanna know why if I play my music in vlc no problem at all yet if i try to play in audacity the sound is unrecognizable pure noise and playback lasts around 1 sec as appose to the length of the track
Could be that it's reading the metadata incorrectly or it's damaged. For instance, RAW files need you to set the parameters (encoding, sample rate, channels etc) yourself and if you do it incorrectly, it'll be decoded as noise. I don't really have a clue as to how to fix it though.
Thanks for this. Even tho the version of audacity I've got is an updated version, your video was very helpful and helped me get rid of some terrible distortion and it was surprisingly easy. Cheers.
I have audio recorded from voice recorder and there is a lot of distortion and noise. I’m almost sure the audio has been jammed. Is there any solutions in Audacity for this.
Not an expert by any stretch, but record about 10 seconds of ambient noise, then mark that period (or track, if you split it), use "Noise reduction" effect, press "Get noise profile". At this point you can delete the noise if you are not going to reload Audacity. Then use the "Noise reduction" effect on your recording.
fingers crossed - hoping to save an audio performance. I did try just dropping the volume overall and then selectively removing low freq below 100 and boosting a few db at 5khz in the EQ as per other tutes for enhancing general vocal quality before i found your video and it was quite improved.

okay.... so i have some spiking and red zones from the music itself... so amplify and raising the sound up would make it worse.. right? how do i soften the music so it is not so static and loud... reduce the spikes?

Thank you a lot for this tip!!
how do you mean "redude treble"?
In Audacity or on your video recorder (phone & others) directly?
@@S0ulSUrviv0R713 Audacity -> Effect > EQ and Filters -> Bass and treble -> -20 (saved 1h of my audio!)
So, bottom line, make a perfect recording so you don't need to learn how to edit :)
i realize it's kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to stream new series online?
Sometimes things go wrong Sir. We ALL know and WANT to make a perfect recording but things happen sometimes. Good Day.

Richard Ayoade, is that you?
What did you mean by being able to retrieve the lost information if I get to the cosmological horizon?
Unless you have super powers, there ain't no way to get back that lost info.
Is there a way to do this if song is not clipped but over compressed?

what type of music you use in the introduction of the video, it seems motivation
what about distortion from recording from a pc (sounds coming from pc)? it is really messing my audio up

What if the distortion is in the mp3 itself. It won't have any clipping but will still sound distorted. Can it be removed?
Idk :|
if you notice it going into the redzone when recording in audacity how do you adjust the level to make it stay out of the red to avoid clipping?
I think you're supposed to move farther away from the mic
Or turn your mic down

well i did a testing too much treble can cause distortion static can cut down the treble in have put a bit more half of bass
Thank you so much! Your clear tutorials have saved my project!
My audacity does't have "clip fix" what do I do?
You've got to click on "Effect" > "Add / Remove Plug - Ins" & enable it through the list that you're presented with.
Just smashed your like button as per request. Thanks for making this vid.
