    Hello from Orange Beach, AL. Your right during the summer boat traffic is crazy. Safe Travels!

    Fun. There's a scrap metal place further around past NAS PCola. If you look at your map its up in Bayou Chica. Funny you mention Dolphins cause you went through Dolphin CENTRAL on this trip! You can always see them out just past Sand Island (Ft McCree), right by the Inlet.

    Rev seems so skidish about boating and rough water yet you guys set sail on this incredible adventure, good for you. My wife gets nervous just thinking about going out on the boat. It could be my tolerance for tardiness. Hence the name of the boat “Zero Patience” Enjoy the videos very much… keep it up!

    Docktails are always a good thing. It looks like the weather is warmer for you now. If your on a boat wet is part of the deal. I do like your helm instead of a flying bridge. Easier to control temp and weather that way. Plus visibility doesn't seem to be a problem.

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  4 роки тому

      We love the enclosed bridge for sure. One of the biggest benefits of the boat!

    We bought our 48 foot Navigator in Cape Canaveral and brought it around the keys to Orange Beach and stayed at the Orange Beach Marina. We only planned to be there for a month before we brought it up to Mississippi, but loved the area so much we stayed through the winter.Lots of deep sea fishing from that area which explains the very expensive sport fishers that you saw. I’m enjoying your trip with you, keep up the great postings.

      I can totally understand why you stayed there longer! It's an incredible place. They were trying to sell Trace Adkin's giant sport fishing boat. Just in case you are interested. Thanks for watching! We really appreciate you.

    Following your trip on a 2nd iPad with Google earth. Get to follow along and research every marina while walking street view. Love technology. Awesome redundancy on the navigation btw Sam! So military man love it! Failure is not an option.

    Another great video (found your channel about a week ago), it's always nice to see my old home city of Pensacola. You mentioned going under the Escambia Bridge. Escambia is the county that the city of Pensacola is located in. Catching up on your video's (binge watching), looking forward to see your coverage of the NC coast which is where we are now located.

    Way to keep up your sunny side even though the weather wasn't. Are you heading all the way to the keys on the gulf side of Florida? Keep safe and warm you guys. Warm weather awaits!!

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  5 років тому +1

      Yes, we will be going down the ICW and then cross over to the Keys. We will be spending January in Cape Coral. We really need some warm weather!

    We love the Pensacola area be sure to check out the museum at the naval base and the lighthouse if they have reopened?

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  5 років тому +1

      We missed the museum because the base was closed down due to the shooting. We'll have to catch it next time.

    Another good one....I noticed how clean and orderly that dock location was.... I spent from 1972 - 1983 in the Army and can appreciate that... I will start the loop at about 66 years of age ( 2 years from now) and since I plan to live on Earth 120 years...I look forward to plenty of water time :-) What are your plans after the Loop ?

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  5 років тому +1

      Sounds like a great plan! We are probably going to sell our boat and spend the next year looking for a new one. Thinking about doing videos of looking at all different kinds of boats. Would you watch videos of us looking at boats through a looper's lens? Then, after we find one do the loop again!

    Where do you plan your crossing? We did Carabelle to Clearwater in 8.5 hours. Flat seas, about 1-2 footers no wind.

    make sure you do a fresh water washdown with all that salt water spray.

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  5 років тому

      Oh yeah. Sam has been very busy keeping that salt water washed off the boat.

    Are you planning on sticking to along the shores and not cruise across the gulf? I only have experience on rivers and Great Lakes not in the gulf or ocean, so not really sure how the conditions are close to shore there.

      We have crossed from Carabelle to Tarpon Springs. It was a 19 hour overnight journey. Video coming - it was trip #81. (I'm a little behind.)

    Did you come down the Mississippi River 2019 ? I thought it was flooded

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  5 років тому

      Peggy, Yes, we came down the Mississippi from Grafton to Cape Girardeau, then turned up the Ohio a bit to get to Grand Rivers, KY. We were fortunate in our timing and missed most of the high water times.

    Is traveling at night on the river and canal system prohibited for pleasure craft or is it just a really bad idea so no one does it?

    • @WhatYachtToDo
      @WhatYachtToDo  5 років тому

      It is not prohibited but it is a REALLY bad idea. Logs and barges are hard to see. 🙂

    I have toms of questions for you. I will not be doing this journey for a few years. I still would like to keep in touch to pick your brain. Diesel vs gas, size of boat, electronics cash or credit use. Should I join a group and boat with them? What do you think a complete trip will cost? hopefully no repairs included. Food prep so forth. I wish you luck and can't wait for reply. What would be the easiest way to stay in contact with you.
    Thx Rich

      Hi RIch, Great questions for planning. I would suggest you look at this video we did some time ago... ua-cam.com/video/8IN5_TwpXaY/v-deo.html It is basic, but the bottom line is that you have your cost, based on the boat you chose. Also, we have some data in our 1,000 and 2,000 and 3,000 mile updates. In the near future we will be doing a Frequently Asked video or webpage. We would recommend that you join AGLCA, as there is also a ton of information on there, including a looper cost spreadsheet. I never used it, but I heard it is a good planning aid. You can comment on here, or via our email. SIgn up for our newsletter on our webpage - www.WhatYachtToDo.com Cheers, Sam
