Rex One He still would have had the mana to cast Sol Ring, and the entire table forgot about the Pact because it was an eventful go around the table. He paid for it, would have had the mana to do everything in the correct order, and this turn didn’t even affect the rest of the game.
Love it when the stacks get crazy! Reminds me of crazy group games before Commander was a thing and people were playing outrageous "4 of" 60+ card decks. So fun! People need to play with more interactive cards nowadays!
Interesting game! Glad someone else has recognized the power of temur Omnath :). I have a deck that I'm looking to tune up to play highpowered / 'cedh' games in my meta, so it's interesting to see the decklist. One of the combos I use at the moment is bonus round, ghostly flicker, and omnath / tayova to continuously flicker mystic sanctuary and get back ghostly flicker which ends up drawing the deck and making pseudo infinite mana. Could be a Thassa's oracle line? At the moment I use it to storm off with Thousand-year-storm and summer bloom, then using Oboro, valakut, and dryad of the illisian grove to ping everyone down.
Watching omnath take a big W just shows that while the competitive meta is governed by a small list of top commanders, an outside play can come in and because it has unique options it can take advantage of specific decks. It was a fun and very stack intensive game and was exceptionally excited to watch. Thank you guys for an amazing game and a big shout out to Shaun!
I wouldn't say omnath is casual its pretty busted especially in the color combination it has being temur. It itself is a threat but also has card draw which is extremely powerful.
I was thinking the same but I think it might be better with Food Chain since casting plunge still lets you choose a specific card while also increasing the chances of exiling the creatues he needs.
@@Coulrophobia29 doesnt matter - food chain wants them in exile. tainted pact is the single best card in a food chain deck since while you look for a food chain, it will exile important creatures like tidehallow or squee along the way. i think him keeping plunge over tainted pact lost him the game (assuming no one had interaction)
Prob would still just try it with tainted pact, but im not a FC player. Plunge can take any one card out of a pile of fixed size. If FC is at the very top, the others are bad, since you just have to stop. Don't really know other reasons, or which has higher chance of failure mathematically.
@@Egovinco98 yes, in the niche case that food chain is on top of the deck, plunge is better. tainted pact has the highest ceiling though - it doesnt kill you like consult can and it can win the game on the spot

Folger couldn't use the sol ring to help cover the costs of Pact of Negation at 11:20 he still could have played that turn but a little differently than what's in the video.
The list of Vial smasher must be different from what's in the video. At least the list is missing copy artifact, one of the most important winning combo in the deck.
8:05 I have a question about the play there. couldn't he have won the game? by exiling and casting again first sliver, after limdul's gets a squee the immortal and then cascade his deck? I believe he had mana for that
At 3 life, he could only dig 15 cards deep, and he probably didn't want to be at 1 life against Shaun, who could ping him by just casting his commander.
Left-tapper. I'm right handed, so I keep my grip, fanned, in my left hand and my right is for manipulating the board. The act of tapping a card with my right hand = a counter clockwise, more natural to me, wrist flick.
Watching all these games, makes me appreciate the casual scene a lot more. cEDH decks are 40% tutors, 25% counter spells, 25% card draw and 10% win cons.. I like janky and fun decks. Games last forever and sometimes you discover fun little synergies and try to build something out of it. I mean.. I once created a deck based on a video clip of a Chimpanzee discovering the mouth of a frog o___o (Guess you know what I'm talking about!) So I made a deck full of apes and spells to turn other people creatures into frogs XD
I find it funny that there's an elemental deck with no elementals, a sliver deck with no slivers, and a warrior deck with no warriors (I know there are a few warriors in there)
Not sure about najeela going for the win there. Lots of untapped mana and nobody had used interaction at that point and food chain had been tutored for at that point. Sometimes just holding cards, leaving mana untapped and pressuring life totals is enough

I’m a simple man. I see Folger in a game, I root for Folger.
Yea well he cheated at 11:12. ‘Forgets’ to pay pact, then pays for it with sol ring he just cast. 😒
Rex One You can literally see the land he tapped to pay for Sol Ring in the next visible frame after that.
I know he paid for sol ring. That’s not an issue. I’m talking about the pact trigger.

How did Ben recast the first sliver after exiling it to food chain? Didn't he only get blue mana from food chain?
He had a lot of other mana available in the other colors as well.
He had enough treasures to do so.

Correct. He technically should've had 1 less mana to use throughout the turn cycle, but it didn't make a difference in the overall game.
Hey there was something a bit weird about Ben's boardstate at 6:05 ....
