16:45 Angel's Grace only prevents DAMAGE, not life loss. So, the outcome would be the same, but his life should have dropped to negative off Ad Nauseam and Kambal.
@@leogon1548 It does matter if they had to pay life for anything. For the purposes of winning the game, you're right. It doesn't really matter. But if someone they were stopped, they'd die.
I know everyone says this, but the way you determine who goes first is hilarious every time. I would KILL to see a PWP Cupid Shuffle on a Masterpieces one day.
After looking into the list, it looks like a list that tutors with razaketh for Leonin Relic-Warder / meathook combo to drain the table. He had to use LRW to get the Grafdiggers cage out of the way to even start tutoring, but after the Dance of the dead he had no mana to work off of besides tutoring for LED but sac’ing the LRW brings cage back and stops the combo line again. When rune weatherstone hit the table, it was pretty much him being iced out.
@@Coulrophobia29 there is like 1-2 more I believe, with abdel as one, and blind obdience as another but current board state showed he couldn’t head to any of those routes. It’s nice to showcase decks that aren’t in the Cedh Database, and I don’t think he misplayed. It just shows the power of our current power list, Rog/Silas being a very resilient contender even if it gets blown out because it still plays some of Cedh’s best combo’s.
haven't seen the game yet but this is probably about Lurrus. I've played my own iteration of that deck a lot for a couple of months and Razaketh was one of the first cuts. Orzhov is just not good at winning with Razaketh lines. Also I don't get Peer in a deck like this, same reason. I pay seven for the spell, draw half my deck and it's very likely that I'll discard to hand size and wait a full turn cycle to try to win? Nah, thanks.
16:40 - 16:50 Close enough: Technically Ad Nauseam would cause him to go into negatives because Angel's Grace doesn't affect losing life but specifically dealing damage; but since Grace still says you can't lose this turn you're still golden!

Hippity hoppity, your key cards are my property. Btw, Angel's Grace wouldn't stop the life loss from Ad Nauseam and Kambal, but thankfully, because of the "you can't lose the game" effect, it didn't change anything.
Would've loved to see Kaya's Ghostform + Phyrexian Altar in the Lurrus deck with any Blood artist effect as another potential win con, feels like the deck has potential but it's lacking some outs when it's one main line gets shut down.
Ack. Angel's Grace does not stop life loss! It prevents your life from going below 1 due to DAMAGE, it does not function the same way Teferi's Protection does where your life total cannot change! Adnaus AND Kambal both go around Angel's grace as they are loss of life!

Yes, and if for some reason he didn't win the game that turn, he would immediately lose due to negative life (not survive with 1 life)
You still cannot lose the game, and opponents can't win the game, so it doesn't matter. He can't lose the game by going negatives in health.

Activate Razaketh 4 times, pass turn. Untap with Razaketh with 7 mana and 2 creatures, still pass turn. Makes sense
I said the same, how do you tutor that many times and not win the game

And Kambal* neither creature deals damage so fun math to figure out how negative his life total went while still winning the game!

Who would have guessed that feeding the fish of a rog si player with a bunch of turn 1 ramp would end badly 😮
Yeah, I don't get why the table doesn't fkng use human skills, negotiate, and refuse to cast noncreature spells until fish's dead.
Gabling with one card in hand to guarantee you get Brain Freeze in the graveyard was top tier

Ashani still can't lose the game even at negative life, so thankfully it didn't make any difference.
I might be missing something here but how did Higher cast a vampiric tutor at 3:28 when there wasn't one in his opener?
I was wondering the same thing!
Agreed that's strange
I’d have to assume they documented his opening hand wrong? Or he drew by mistake when he played Gemstone?
Yeah that was odd. Maybe there was a edit mistake
I didn’t have a divinging witch I had vamp tutor
Sick win game 2
anyone know what the soundtrack they use in the middle of games?
You can tell nobody in this pod played Ad Nauseam in Modern
Death by Windfall? That's hilarious
15:40 he casts a phyrexian tower 😎. (To clarify, this a joke for those who don’t know)
man, everyone who watched this video is probably cutting angel's grace from their deck
That knowledge pool art looks so washed out I thought it was his London mulligan
I guess y'all had to gift him some wins one way or another. Very little blue against him seems like the only way Ashani can win.
