    To help with pillar three, answer this Q: where do your peers hang out (professionally speaking) online?

      Back in 2004-2006, that was World of Warcraft.

    I make sure to always be closely associated with the most reputable people in my company & know they have my back in conversations I'm not privy to. Gives me some job security & assurance that I will be valued at work not at the bar after work.

      Having strong relationships with those influencers in the company, and people who will sing your praises is so important!

      im sorry but i can't recommend trusting anyone at work. when push comes to shove, everyone is selfish and the company most of all. even when it comes to saving a few bucks, the company keeps trying to interview people for every role except maybe for the ones from close family or friends, or "old guard" to try and get that same job done for cheaper and also be prepared in case you decide to quit. so no noone has your back. you are only useful until you are not. favors are forgotten and there is no company or colleague loyalty.

      Same! A supervisor in another department (that I work closely with) was sitting in a meeting with my managers and said some really nice things about me. Also a lot of my coworkers also have my back. It really helps

    Your values are so important when searching for the next job. I realized I didn't consider my values when landing previous jobs and that's why got into toxic workplaces. It's not good enough to think of hard skills and previous experience.

    If you are a tall and reasonably attractive male who is happy to parrot whatever the bosses say, you'll go far. Others need some kind of ability.

    My answer would be best in replying to Email, customer satisfaction and generating revenue. In spite of all that people can and will steal credit for your hard work, not let upper management know of it or simply ignore it. Also if your not the socializing or attractive type of person that will often be held against you. In short there is too much BS in many workplaces.

    What if those people you have to be connected with who are in high position and can help you get promoted doesn't like you because they see you as a threat?

    • @asadb1990

      thats so true and this can limit promotions and logitivity at the job. i have personally experienced that if i continued to work at said company, i would have replaced the ones who don't know even know how to use excel, ms project, etc.

      Don’t overly broadcast or telegraph your intentions and ambitions, especially if it’s in their specific area. Be discreet, Incognito, aloof. If you do talk about your dreams and goals be very general about it, “I wanna make 100k within two years” or “I’m interested in owning a chain of coffee shops” or whatever. Don’t make it obvious that you’re on a war path in your company. In essence, don’t be “thirsty” lol. If you’re “thirsty” or desperate around women they get turned off, but if you’re calm, aloof, charming and nonchalant they let their guard down and come to YOU. Same thing in this context.

    My county of 4.5m people don't have the innovative companies with HQ, to jump to and my current employer does not grow sales so people tend to stay long term and there is no lateral movement(vertically or horizontally). I have all the linkedin and over-educated\skills. This town is more for where you go for your last job before retiring....I hate looking outside the region for interesting companies that offers opp for skills usage and company growth. Ideas, besides starting your own business\consulting firm?

    Hi Jennifer, I just landed on a dream job. I can work on what I like to do. I got much higher pay and benefits. I was very active on LinkedIn. Should I still posting and keep polishing my LinkedIn profile. I afraid my manager will see that as I am job hopper and I may lose opportunity for growth in this organization, which is really big.

      Keep sharing your expertise! Many professionals are building personal brands there solely for career advancement. I think smart companies know your personal brand boosts their employment brand. You can also sprinkle in boast posts about the company, share jobs that your team is hiring for and whatnot.

    This is a bunch of googly gop. You should probably at least mention that it’s for people who want to work in a big company, that provides services other companies. It seems that your target audience is pretty specific.

    • @asadb1990
      @asadb1990 3 роки тому +4

      agreed but to be fair, if you want to do just enough to be happily employed and have a healthy work life balance, decent pay and good perks, the big companies is where you get that. small companies are full of sociopaths where the top position are for their family. next are bootlickers and finally everyone else. and most small companies use the cointerm "wear lots of hats" which just means 1pay=3jobs. at least with big companies they hire 1 person to 1 job.
