this reminds me of when i used to live with my parents... and then after my mother found i was a witch... she confessed that she was also hiding her craft from me 🤣 now were just witchy together. funny how things can go like that sometimes
This is so wholesome, I luv it ❤️❤️
that's so cute! awh ❤️❤️
Oh my gosh that would be my dream come true. Hahaha
Omg wow I'd love to hear more about your story!
I wish my mom would do that too! My mom always says she's FRIGGIN supportive but she always judge me and trying to change me into not a witch and she refuses to listen to anyone in my family that was explaining to her that my craft is not like the evil witche's craft...
I feel so dumb. Just now I realized that "incense matches" are scented matches, not just regular matches to light an incense 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Ember Leuchtturm I discovered those today and was so confused 😆
Ember Leuchtturm lmao me tho
TIL
Lmao me too
girl...
You can also use birthday candles. They’re really great for on the go work and burn down in 10-15 minutes.
Hekate Phosphoros that’s what I use for mine! :)
@@hauntedmythAkari yeah me too!
Birthday candles are also usually pretty easy to find multiple colors for, so that can be useful. Tea light candles do too of course, but it’s hard to cram several colors of those in one tin or small box.
When I liked this the amount of likes went up to 444 my lucky number that I have been seeing a lot 🌝😊
That's an amazing idea!
I'm a flight attendant so I often take tarot cards, a sage spray, and some crystals with me since I can't burn things in hotels.
Good to know, is there anything we should not bring in carryon for a plane, like herbs etc?
@@alexachipman If bringing herbs, I'd bring them in a labeled bag, and a small amount. Do not bring strike-anywhere matches, in your carry-on, only safety matches are allowed. No matches are allowed in checked bags! :)
Bast is one of my matron Goddesses! Brighid is my other matron.
i cant burn things either because i have a guinea pig so i use moonwater and make a cleansing spray
Little Fang sorry i’m just seeing this, is it ok to bring incense stricken in your carry on or checked bag? thank you!
I had to learn to practice magic secretly and in small spaces, so this right here is my jam. Nice video!
69 likes, nice
I’m open, but kinda scared of chanting loudly, or using fire, any tips
I started in my room and I had everything in a shoe box but I am out now so now I have it on a chair although I am not out to my cousin's or anything, so when they're over I put everything in a shoe box again. I am not ready to tell them because they are Christian af and they wouldn't accept me
same hhere
Was just thinking about making one for my car so I can stop at all those pretty outside places. So this video came at a great time.
Bella Figa that’s a great idea!
Bella Figa your circumstances were sincronized
Right that's is such a good idea, you know how many times I've been out and found this beautiful perfect spot to do a spell or just give thanks to this beautiful earth... love it!
@Kayce Eileen yeah, and in some places humidity gets everywhere so be sure to check for mold.
*I think the tin lunchboxes for Valentine's day at dollar tree would be perfect for a travel altar, good ideas, I'll be adding some crystal chips and a few herbs in mine..thanks for sharing*
Tiffany McCain 💞 I saw those! I was thinking the same thing as well!
As a flight atendnet do you any any sjestions for people moving with their alters? with things they have gathred (like sticks herbs etc) with out being stopped at customs becouse they look suspiious. I get stopped and having them handel all my herbs sucked. I know it's their job but they kept asking why I have herbs wih me and I was trying to explaine but they wouldn't take "I'm a witch" as " as a reason even though it was the truth :(
@@peachyblurbs7876 unfortunately I don't..I've never been on a plane. 😕
Hmmm good idea
Omg seems obvious now but I never thought of it, thank you! I will be definitely picking some cute boxes on the after v-day discounts
So a few years back I dreamt up a symbol... Before I was into the craft, I would doodle it all over my sketchbooks. I searched but I never found anything like it, but the symbol you use in your travel alter is almost the exact same one.
Same here ever since I was 12 I saw a symbol in my dream and I cannot find it anywhere. 👏
Same! Until I was into witchcraft every time I closed my eyes I saw a strange diamond with a crescent shape on the top of it, I later found out it was a sign for witchcraft.
I created my own symbol, it's similar to a cross but pointed at the edges and has circles at the end of each point. It came to me in a dream with the word cursed. So I call it my cursed symbol.
I just noticed you liked jasmine incense! I love jasmine too but for different reasons. In Indonesian culture its believed that if you were to smell jasmine at night it's a friendly spirit passing by. So jasmine is seen as symbolic of spirits and overall connecting with spirits.
However jasmine also related to the western idea of love and attraction and jasmine is often used on headdresses and hairstyles for women in Indonesian weddings
hello fellow indonesian!
waitttttt are u indonesian AND a witch?

@@sharonwong773 HELLO!
Hello neighbour! I'm from Malaysia and I've been practicing witchcraft for a while now! Tbh I didnt follow my culture because its too hard to understand for me😐 and I thought witch and witchcraft was the easiest way to go. I'm a green witch and sometimes.. it would be dark.. I still didn't understand why, and how did I make it sometimes, but I can controls it better now.
Something I just came up with:
You are your own alter. You can wear crystals and carry sage and a lighter in your bag, you can put Sigils in your shoes or the pockets of your coats and jackets, you could wear certain colors and perfumes/colognes, you could take a private space and declare it yours for a little while so you can pray or journal, or whatever you want to do.
So yeah, just be your own alter if nothing else works. 🤷🏻♀️
Never thought of that, but it's pretty clever and I like the idea
That’s often what I do haha. Crystal jewelry and pocket stones and herbs in the pockets and shoes. I carry a small notebook. I find that that works well for me on a day to day leaving the house. If I am traveling I’ll set up some sort of travel altar
Im planning on doing the whole van life thing in the next couple years and this will be a very useful way to practice while on the road
Sounds awesome!
That’s Awesome
I've seen a few ppl with altars.
i’ve actually never really used altars in my craft at all, but this has totally inspired me to dabble with them. thanks for the tips! 💙
CJ Sweet You don’t need it to be an altar, I don’t use them a lot either but see this video as a great tip on how to make a travelling magic toolbox too 😊
@anup kumar sinha welcome to the family! you don’t actually need any supplies to be a witch. witchcraft is a universal science and the magic comes from within us, as infinite multi-dimensional beings, and our intention. tools merely help you to channel and focus the energy that already exists inside of you. 💙
The dollar tree has small tool boxes that make great travel altars, and at Michael's and other craft stores, they have decorative boxes that would work as well. The Dollar Tree also carries a number of different sized tins that would work too.
You can also use those mini jewelry boxes too.
I have the Ouija tins that I bought specifically to make a travel altar kit. :-)
Me too! I didn't care for the mints, but the tins are lovely.
Me too
I guess I always thought I had to have my ancestor alter out all the time, or any alter for that matter. This will make it easier as I am still in the broom closet .
I'm going into the broom closet myself
I have a travel altar! I love it. I used it for January's full moon when I went to my friend's house. Everything I needed(plus a gift for my friend) fit in my little box. Thanks for sharing!
yay, I love this! My travel altar is a fancy decorative box from Michael's that was on sale, it's about the size of the purple box, and I bought a separate lock and key mechanism that I just screwed into the cardboard of the box, and it now locks up and I keep the keys separately with me at all times. Lol, very Scorpio rising of me, but I love it because even with that size, I can fit tarot cards in there, runes, candles, chalk, paper, etc etc. I have SO much stuff in that one, and it's so nice for times like when I travel to the beach, etc. I actually just keep it in my car with me so I have it every day at work as well. The creative in me really loves stuff like this, because I can make so many diff versions, and change it up. I had another box I had glued a mirror on the inside to, bought little mirror pieces from the craft store. :) Love it!
Love this, was thinking of making my own..love the idea of keeping a small notebook along with it
Okay so i'm getting a really weird vibe seeing that this got uploaded today because I swear I watched it yesterday
My dad doesn’t like me having flames in my room but I want to do candle work and I don’t know what to do
I am the kneecap police Same but with both of my parents. Figure out how to light a lighter (unless you already know how) and then definitely do a little- mini altar thing
Blow some glitter in the air. Or get an electric candle.
AJ's Journeys Really? Glitter works?
I have seen online that if you have a smart phone there are candle apps where you can pick the color and put it out. Might not work for some elaborate stuff or reading the flames but its better than nothing I guess.
Stash birthday candles and just be careful with them
My alter is literally a tub of extra chewing gum 😂
This should be called being in the broom closet tutorial
Where is that Grimoire/Bos tour i caaaaaaan’t wait to see yours I really need some inspiration for mine grimoire i am really scared to start mine so I can’t wait to see yours your style is soooo good and pretty i can only imagine what your grimoire looks like. ✨🥰
I’ve always had a travel alter and didn’t even know it. 😂. I have always kept my items in a medium sized box but love your ideas/items. Love your channel!
Your hands must be Irish. You have very expressive hands. 😁😁 A very cool video. Thanks!
I was just thinking the same thing, being Irish I see so many people talk with their hands
Ohh I didn’t know that was an Irish thing lol makes sense
Abbey Campbell I talk with my hands a lot and I’m English haha. Must be my Irish ancestry 😂
@@laurabowden5 ha yeah, probably the British isles region in general is say
im irish and very expressive with my hands. i find myself even talking with my hands on a phone call of and on 😂🤦🏻
*When you through incense matches were small Incenses*
What perfect timing! I just went shopping for my Imbolc celebrations and bought a few things for a pocket altar as I was thinking of creating a new one!
I LOVE the Morning Star incense. One of my favorites.
And I don't currently have a travel alter packed as it's been a while since I've been gone long enough to need one - BUT, I have "book boxes" that I've used (boxes that look like books). That are "witchy" themed. One says 'Book of Spells' and another says 'Witches Guide Potions & Poisons' that I literally got at the Dollar Tree. I use them for decoration if I'm not using them for travel.
I've just been thinking about making one! Good timing I suppose ♡
Me, too!!
for a little while i was using a mint tin (the ouija board one!) to carry some of my favorite crystals for protection, as well as a pendulum (i have two) and some sticks of cinnamon. i carried it around in my backpack with me my first year of college!
Omg I’d just posted a blog post on the Pagans and Witches amino about travel altars!! I love these so much, they’ve been so useful to me!
I also recently did a blog post about travel altars, then boom this video came out lol it must be in the air.
I love the idea of drawing sigils into the covers (or on paper that fits into the covers) of the travel altar!
My altar. This isn't really a travel altar, but since I live in a college dorm and have to move regularly and periodically take my stuff home, I have a system where all of my discreet (more crafts-y) stuff goes into a shoebox, while the more obviously witchy things go into my backpack. If I am strategic about placement, I can fit a surprising amount in a pencil case and the rest goes into the bottom of the backpack and gets covered by books and electronics. Most of my sabbat dorm decor can pass as normal seasonal dorm decor, and the rest is mostly stuff from nature, which I dispose of every couple sabbats anyway.
While I love the shoebox idea, it can get problematic for me because my family might wonder why I'm so attached to an old shoebox and maybe even peek into it! This is why I mostly just keep things I'm okay with my family looking at in the shoebox, and the rest stays on my person (a.k.a. the backpack).
After a move-in, I take everything out and set things up as best as I can. It's working wonderfully right now, as I have a spare desk at my disposal, but it might be more problematic in the autumn, when I won't have the luxury of so much space for my witchy work. Eh, I'll figure something out.
In a few months I'm moving from a large room where I can openly practice in the country to a small studio apartment in the city with my mom :/. This video is hella helpful for getting ideas for smaller alters that I can use in the city. :D
You're the only one on youtube who talk about this without making it strange, i really love this channel❤
Im gonna be living in a van soon and although i wont have to HIDE my altar it would just make it easier to have a travel sized one. This video was super helpful and gave me a ton of ideas !
The Ouiji tin I've gotten at Spirit Halloween 2 years running. I think their website is up all year though, so you might be able to find them there.
That is such an unbelievably cool hack!
Definitely going to make one of these!
For most of my witching life I've had my alter in the bottom drawer of my wardrobe. This was so useful for me :)
This is also a great idea if you have children (or cats) that tend to get curious.
I have my things safely tucked away in a basket out of reach for both kids and cats.
I hide things in old glasses cases XD I never thought it would be considered an alter. I love this series
we have meditation i my school after we eat and i'm like- Catch me setting up a alter in class-
Yes I have a lovely small travel altar. Ill try to post a pic. I use it when I travel out of town. I do need to remember to keep it 'alive' by making sure the supplies are fresh each time I take it.
I made my first one years ago. I think I am ready to make another. And I seriously have a cute Mystifying mints tin that I use.
I just wanted to let you know that I just got my incense matches in the mail yesterday. THANK YOU SO MUCH for introducing these to us! I love them.
Yes I work with travel alters all the time I enjoy placing whole lemons on my altars with cinnamon sage ginger basil vanilla n lavender with peppermint oil pink salt and black sand along with some scented oils n candles n sage sticks and garlic cloves n yellow n orange flowers surrounded in many of huge crystal collection above all of my many different Buddha statues with full glasses of water on each table
I'm a minor witch who recently started practicing and who practices in secret. I've been looking to make an altar for some time and this video really helped! Thank you ❤️
Hey Olivia!!!! I love your channel. It has been a beacon of hope for me ever since I moved to India. I have been targeted by bullies when people found out i was a witch and this community has really helped me cope with all the shit that has happened. I started practicing witchcraft 2 years ago on my thirteenth birthday. Which was right around the time i started watching your videos. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be the witch i am today! Thank you so much!
I have used my IPad as a travel alter, I use crystals to tune it, ProCreate to paint it, notes to write digital petitions, music to brings in life and vibration, and again something physical to ground it (I have small flat charged stones in my protective case), it is really easy and straightforward. Just don’t forget to tune your machines and chargers any other time, you don’t want them to go out of tune and go all cranky and less protective.
For an example one of the quickest quick fixers I use is the mix of intentional music bringing in vibrations, the use of my crystal charged digital pen and the chalk and eraser tool in notes. So simple yet extremely effective.
I've always wanted to make my own travel altar! Thank you for this video!
my altar is in one of my dresser drawers :)
Same
Hi I'm not a witch but I'm interested in it. Just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction to start off my witch journey? It would really mean alot.
Bitch What look up beginner friendly videos and follow your gut, if you are interested in deities go study deities. think herbal magik sound neat? go study it! trust yourself, intuition is important :))
READ. BOOKS. I truly cannot stress this enough, witchcraft is all about knowledge and learning.
Just do not take gifts from fae PLEASE
Thanks everybody! My mom had some crystals in a jar so I have two crystals
I'm also starting on my journey. So far, what I've done is watch a freaking lot of beginner-friendly videos (like this channel), and researched, researched, researched.
I've first researched the different types of practices and beliefs (Wicca and the different neo-pagans movements, the different kinds of magick, etc.), and then went from there to research the subjects I was more interested in.
I got myself an amazingly beautiful tarot deck that I love (and apparently, we're vibing together, because my readings so far have been super accurate :o ), and then decided to join my love of teas with a more spiritual approach (no active craft yet, just researching until I'm comfortable enough), and the pull I have towards some crystals since I've been very young (so, again, researching the different crystals, their use, etc., but I'm definitely getting some stones that have been calling to me soon, lol).
So yeah, my advice: research as much as you can and want, find the subjects that interest you, research some more, then baby steps towards a more active practice.
i loove morning star too, my favorite one is patchouli♡♡
This video is so helpful! I am now a college student and I was worrying about having an altar or not. I will definitely be using a shoebox that I have and I will be happy with it! Blessed be!
This was wonderful. Loved seeing all the cute items 🤩🤩🤩
I love your videos xx
Thanks for bringing Incense Matches to my attention. They are so cool and handy and pleasing to the eye. I just ordered some.
I never thought about this, but now that I've watched it, I see the benefits of a travel altar. This is huge! Thank you so much for making this video. :)
I live on a boat, so I keep everything in a vintage picnic basket I found. My house moves A LOT as the tides change and waves move etc. So I can't leave anything out that could fall over, and I don't have space to have a dedicated altar out all the time. The picnic basket is a cute and low key way to take it on hikes with me too!
I started one this morning and now this video is up. I am so excited!
I just found a perfect tin and needed some inspiration! You’re a blessing ❤️❤️❤️
Grrr all your altars are so pretty!!
I love travel altars! They are so fun and endless.
Getting ready to travel soon, this popped up in the recommended, somehow hadn’t seen it yet! I’m gonna dig around in my storage and see what I can repurpose for a travel altar. This is great!
I honestly love making crafty things with altoid tins, thank you so much for this!
Some great ideas on travel altars, love it!
i love when you say palo santo!
Omg, I love this. Thank you so much for all that you do. You've helped me through my journey as a witch. i look forward to more of these videos!
Hi this is irrelevant but when she said “Come on,” to the incense holder when she put it back in the box, like if you agree
Love this! I finally got around to making my own travel alter and it really helps me stay grounded and focused on my craft when I'm away. Love your videos, you are my favorite youtube witch and very inspiring!
Loved this video. I have the mystifying mints ouija tin and use it as a wallet. Credit/debit cards and ID fit perfectly
I've never heard of a travel altar! This video came to me at the perfect time, seeing as I'm going to be traveling for work soon again!!!
I love this. I travel all the time so I'm definitely using the altoids tin idea
I love this idea! The ceramic tile is a nice touch.
i love this video. it seems like a friend showing me how to practice in a way that’s good for me. thank you olivia, for helping me through my path.
I love these witchcraft 101 videos! Thank you.
I love this idea of being able to take items with you that means something to you
I love how you can make it really stealthy if you don’t want people to know what it is. Love your videos, Olivia! 🖤
Just wanted to tell you I bought these incense online and you’re right they’re amazing. Thank you for the heads up on these!
Never thought a travel altar. Love the idea. Thank you. hope you told your brother i said thank you. Be safe in your travels.
This is so great! ✨🖤 I'm watching this while making a pocket altar :)
Love this! Love and light to all my brothers and sisters. Blessed be ❤️🌟🙏
i wanna make one of these, since i'm on the broom closet, and i have two boxes that are perfect for it! one is from my watercolor pencils, it has a van gogh painting on the lid and it's the perfect size! the other one is a jewelry box that has two parts. it's not easy to carry around, but it's easy to hide and put a lot of things inside. maybe I'll use it for offerings?? idk, still a baby witch :,)
OMG this was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you so much for this video! 🖤✨🔮🙏🏾
Definitely making one of these. thx so much!
Your videos always come at the perfect time im going to Hawaii in two weeks and this is perfect!
You and your videos are so inspiring. Thank you for everything. You are like a bright star that makes all the bad go away.
I've never actually used a travel altar before! I have a permanent altar set up in our office, so I don't have much need for one (I don't really go anywhere lol), but these are such cute and great ideas for on the go spellwork and craftwork. Thanks for the suggestions!
Perfect timing! I was thinking about making one. Thanks!
"Polly pocket" altars, I looove it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍
Your videos are therapy for me especially the tea ones. In a triggering world your videos are a sacred space.
I’m so glad you made a video about this! I just booked a flight to Mexico in June and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to have room for my alter, but thanks to you now I have a perfect idea of packing it! 💞💞💞💞💞💞
I am about to downsize to an RV full time, so this is huge for me! Thanks for uploading this video! I have so many things I work with or keep around for my practice and now I have to minimize what I take with me and use in my practices, so this video came just in time. You've already inspired me in ways that I can begin downsizing my altar space to a box.
Thanks so much !! You are really helpful! Love you !!
Loved this
Loved this, your travel altar is so cute! Also Morning Star incense are my fav too 💕
I love this idea! I have seen some before. But I haven’t made one. I think I will try to make one that can be in my car. I really love your channel!
this is actually going to be my inspo for spirits altars because I tend to get so overwhelmed when it’s in open space
*This is just awesome.*
Been looking at these sorts of videos and this is the perfect gift for my sister. Already bought a nice box, now I just need to work on it to make it special. Many thanks for all the inspiration!
Wow! Thanks for sharing incense matches with us. I have never heard of them...but now I must get some!
