Thank you Pastor Joe for sharing. I came from Asia to US, and demons were real long before I was saved by Lord Jesus . Jesus delivered me from “seeing” demons in my dreams for decades before I accepted Lord Jesus as Lord & Savior.

Neil T Anderson is probably the best author on this topic that I have read. Victory Over the Darkness and The Bondage Breaker help people to find freedom in Christ without power struggles, learning to just stand on who we are in Christ, (and renouncing the various things we've done to give the Devil a foothold in our lives).

Thank you for sharing this. When the disciples began the first church, they didn't bring the gospel with just words (1 Corinthians 4:20) but with power. The gospel is a way to be born of the Spirit in order to walk by the Spirit (Romans 8:14), and if you aren't born of it, you can't understand the things of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:14) and we must be born-again to do this (John 3).
Jesus lived by the Spirit all of the time. Do we not follow his way, instead of traditions? Jesus even said that those who love him will do what he commanded (John 14:15-24). Yes, those who love Him, over men. Many of us have been casting out demons now for years, and I say that only b/c we've been led by the Spirit to do so, not in any way from pride... In fact, He's taught me about Leviathon, and how it functions in the church.
"The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit." - 1 Corinthians 2:14
You can be a "religious" Christian, by head knowledge and still of the world, and not a born-again child of God who hears and obeys Jesus's voice. And this is quite common. Also, wouldn't - not casting out demons when we've been commanded to- and allowing people to remain in bondage, not be part of pride as well? The Bible says that the cowardly and unbelieving, will not inherit the Kingdom (Revelation 21:8), doesn't it? As I learned about Leviathon (Job 41 - King over the children of Pride), I learned passivity was just as evil as controlling or domineering behavior. Note King Ahab and Queen Jezabel in 2nd Kings. As I learned about deliverance, and began to get delivered of things as a born-again Christian, I also had a spirit of "Ahab" and was passive. The Lord led me to no longer tolerate it in my life, nor Jezabel (Revelation 2:20) who is controlling and can also reside in what we'd call "religious people" who lack love and patience. God, who is light and there is no darkness in Him, wants us to be very patient with people, and kind as we minister, heal and deliver, according to Christ's ways and voice.
"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will harm you. 20Nevertheless, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” - Luke 10:19-20
The Lord gave his people Authority. The preaching of the Gospel always included casting out demons until the church divided and the power was taken out. If people were demonized back then when Jesus walked the earth, without t.v.'s, music, culture, and lived in they lived a simple life in country-sides, how much more are people demonized today? If we don't do what Jesus taught us and set the captives free (Luke 4:18), are we truly his disciples?
Unfortunately many churches don't know or understand discipleship. And it's funny, because they think they do but the modern discipleship looks little like it did in the Bible. Knowing about something and doing it is quite different. There's a dramatic difference between knowing about something and experiencing it for yourself. Experiencing thru doing the Word, leads to radical transformation by the truth, power and mercy of God thru obedience.
Don't we see in James, that faith without works is dead (James 2:26)?
When a person is born-again (John 3) and baptized in the Holy Spirit. This can include the laying on of hands to receive the Holy Spirit (Hebrews 6:1). Babtism always followed repentance in the book of Acts. See also Acts 2:38 & Mark 16:15. After they repent and are baptized in water and spirit, disciples have the authority to cast out demons. They must do this without doubting (James 1:8) in authority, not wavering when prayers and petitions are made. It must be walked out with efforts, and reaching out, not just head knowledge of the Bible.
The other gift of the spirit that helps to remain led by the Spirit, is praying in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:14) and worshipping (singing!), + praying the word of God into any situation thru faith. It's important to not with fear, but believe a thing as it's already been done and receive rest. Then step out in preparation for it to come into fruition, as you trust God's way.
I often hear the Holy Spirit tell me now, specifically, which demons are present, as I worship and pray in tongues. I've learned to cast my own out, as I worship and listen to His voice. This has taken some years to develop learning to hear the Holy Spirit and obeying his words, but the more of your own demons you get rid of as He calls your spirit to repent of things, the more clearly you hear His voice. And Joy + faith increases!
People who are born of the spirit can cast out demons, heal the sick and raise the dead as command by Jesus himself, in Matthew 10:8. It is not as complicated as people think,... when you walk by the Spirit and trust with thankfulness, worship and gratitude to the Lord. Because you do not need to rely on your own strength or understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6) but rather the Holy Spirit and the words of scripture.
What to do? Get born again. Repent and be babtized in water (Acts 2:38) for the remission of your sins and you will receive the Holy Spirit. Learn to approach God with praise and thankfulness as you seek Him! Sing and dance, enjoy Him. You would want to be sung over and enjoyed as well, right? Ask Him daily, for His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Find people who believe in actually doing Jesus's words, and be patient and gentle with all men in the process (1 Thessalonians 5:14). Be thankful and pray always, so not to ever get into fear or anxiety! But make your requests known to God (Philippians 4:6-7) and his Peace will guard your hearts.
