I started buying desktops/Modules when I realized that the sounds/parts that were sequenced could be tucked away in a rack. Also, I started running out of space in my studio & all the damn dusting involved. The VideoFX that kicks in @ 5:50 makes your hands & arms look like victim of battered wife syndrome or Walking Dead Plays Keys.
Haha right I liked the decrepit look! Fits the dark tones of the vid. Keyboards are a luxury, like you said. Especially the old ones as they're huge. I like small desktops that can be used intuitively, but prefer keyboards! Good to hear from you. I ended up making a song out of the melodies in the first performance of this video and am uploading. Nothing like beer and cigs for encouragement.
Oh good, while you're drinking, I have an opinion/experience question. If someone has a need for Audio Inputs, why an Audio Interface & why not a Mixer feeding into the Audio In of the motherboard or Sound Card? I've always done the Mixer into the sound card & works fine. What's the difference? Audio Interfaces became a "thing" since I've been here so never got to play with one or Demo one. Why aren't people happy with a mixer?
@@AA-ge4uj I think it's because people want to eq,comp,fx in a DAW instead of recording an altered sound. My Yamaha MR816 had these effects that you could apply to the signal, but the recorded signal would be dry. It was a big thing at the time. Another reason may be how big mixers are. When I first started, I used a Yamaha mixer with fx and recorded into a m-audio pci audio card. I loved it and do miss it. I think mainly the fx because they were so noisy and the final result was so gritty. That might be another reason, more components may contribute to more noise on inputs. They have mixers that act as a audio interface now if you preference that setup.
Ferrite cores are your ammo in the battle of Noise. Every cable going in & out of my mixer has one. My background is RF so Induction & Noise are old acquaintances. I have a little 8 Channel Roland from my time working for them. Employees were allowed to purchase Service Units after they were swapped out (so the faulty boards), got lucky & scored one that only had a couple of dry joins around the PSU. Fixed it, cased it & still going strong. I sussed out the USB Mixer/Interface & I'm liking the Behringers. Under 500 bucks for 12 Channels & Audio Interface, can't go wrong. The only thing that bugs me about the USB arrangement is the chance of annoying Ground Loop Noise with so many powered devices sharing the same port. Life wasn't meant to be easy? Nah, life would be boring without fault-finding.
@@AA-ge4uj Learned about Ferrite cores and how it helps against Eddy currents! Interesting names. Offering to sell the faulty units is a great perc. Didn't get any Jupiter 8s??? I have had bad luck with Behringer, but this was a looong time ago. I played their Mono/poly and it seemed good quality (especially for the price). They may have have better stuff now. You could get a USB pci card and that may help with lane sharing. I too like to say life would be boring if it were perfect. I just wish things didn't cost so much so I could tinker more!
it's always good to see lambchop hanging out
Awwww 😄
I just love your simplicity on creation
i used to be very in depth, but now i do not want to spend the time. it can take away from the ideas!
@@ModIcore I know exactly what you mean
Some nice psychedelic sounds @5.40👍
Those two patches worked well together! I forgot how fun layering different instruments is.
@@ModIcore sometmes its great when two sounds compliment each other :)

@Synthitate: Do you have a bandcamp page?
I don't. Last I heard it was going belly up? I have some music on Soundcloud, but they're previews.
