Hello Tess, I applied after I watched this video yesterday. And I have received their reply informing me that they would have me train/test with them, after my cover letter and/or resume were reviewed. I have also downloaded, signed, and sent back the confidentiality agreement form as required. So, what does "train/test" entail? How long does it last before one is considered legible for a job? I know next to nothing about transcription, but I'm very motivated. Are there more things that I need to know?

The train/test is an audio for you to transcribe. The sooner you submit the assigned test transcript, the sooner you can get started or so I think. Your motivation will get you very far.

I would love to but I can't access Rev from Kenya.
Castingwords barely has jobs as a beginner, you need to work hard to get those files, at times there are files but very limited so you put a refresher on you chrome extension to see if there are jobs available, and you also need to be very fast when it comes to selecting the files to work on.
Rev doesn't accept transcribers from Kenya. People mostly buy accounts and use VPNs to do transcription or translation jobs.

People say a lot of things about many things. All companies have negative reviews especially when it comes to pay. My advice is to try something for yourself and make your decision out of your experience not hearsay.
Castingwords not taking applications at the moment
Not for everyone really. Some are getting through. Some aren't. No idea why.
Is it possible to open a paypal account in an unsupported country.
I don't think so unless you use a different country.
Assuming that you can do this by some method like VPN (virtual private network) which
confuses their system and shows them that you are in a different country you will still face a lot of challenges.
1. You cannot withdraw your money because PayPal uses local finance agents like banks and mobile money to provide this service.
2. When your total withdrawals exceed $600 they will ask you to verify your account. You can only do this by providing your passport/ID and something that shows where you live. Like a bank statement, phone bill, water or electricity statement.
Again for them to operate or not to operate in a certain country is purely a business decision. That's what they told me some years back before they came to our country (Kenya).
