Gaga is hated because it's fashionable right now. But she has impressed me here and there. She is NO Auto tune slave. She needs to do a heavy album! She shines when she's passionate. She's got my respect

her album born this way has a few rock elements in most of the songs, it’s still pop but ti can for sure hear the influence

I don't get why people are so bitter about gaga anyway, if it was any other "pop singer" it would have been far worse, at least she's passionate about metal..

People just want to hate because she's Gaga and a pop star. I don't follow Gaga, but I've heard her hits and she's obviously super talented and she's actually into metal and all kinds of music. I think she fit perfectly and she can actually harmonize in a great way. A lot of people don't know she used to be in a Zeppelin cover band when she was younger so not only can she hit these notes, she enjoys the music. It would have been weird if they let someone like Bruno Mars or Ed Sheeran who don't seem like they're metalheads.

Ambs Jackson Is it really that hard to believe that metal fans don't enjoy listening to an artist who has no affiliation with the genre (and whose voice doesn't suit the music) performing a severely (and disrespectfully) shortened version of one of our favourite band's songs, all the while she's... I don't know, dancing I suppose?, which again doesn't suit the music?! There's a reason we choose to listen to metal rather than pop music, and you might think we should just suck it up and listen to generic pop music like everyone else, but that's not what metal is about. Metal and pop don't only have a completely different sound, as a genre they represent an entirely different mentality. We dislike contemporary pop music. That doesn't mean we disrespect it, or its fans (as I hope pop fans don't disrespect us), but we distance ourselves from it nonetheless. Metal and pop don't mix. Gaga has chosen her artistic direction, and it's simply not one that lends itself to our music. So I'll take plain old Metallica over a generic, repetitive pop-slut any day.

    • @oivind22
      @oivind22 7 років тому +7

J.L. Metal and pop mix just fine with me. Especially Lady Gaga's music, since she's always had so much attitude. Just listen to songs like "Teeth" and "Aura". Or just "Bad Romance". I have no problem switching between metal and Lady Gaga.
Pop music isn't really more generic than metal. That's a typical rockist attitude. The riffs Metallica play on "Moth into Flame" are extremely generic, although I don't mean to say that as it's a bad thing.

When Gaga was starting out back in 2005-06 she was performing with Lady starlight, go-go dancing to Metallica, Maiden, Saxon etc to piss people off which is pretty metal if you think about it. Thus the dance moves...

I can't help but wonder what would happen if this was a permanent thing. GaGa makes Metallica sound more interesting and she is certainly able to add heretofore unknown range. I would spend good money to hear what Metallica and GaGa put together in a songwriting sense.

I'm not much of a Lady Gaga fan either, though I do think that Bad Romance is a pretty decent pop song. She has a good voice and it worked really well for Moth Into Flame. Her dance moves don't do a lot for me, but whatever. Don't think I'm in her target demographic. If some pop fans are motivated to check out Metallica that wouldn't otherwise, that's a good thing in my book.

Like a few others, I'd be totally down for another (proper) "Lulu" with Gaga. People reacting badly to this pairing are approaching this from an ideology standpoint. Music - or art, for that matter - isn't about ideology, it's about how it makes you feel. And this felt top notch rock 'n roll.

Oh man the person who fucked up James' mic must be having hard times.
Thanks for this! I am a huge fan of both Metallica (obv not as huge as you though =D) and Lady Gaga. As a fan of both, the tv-version was so frustrating so I am so happy to see this vid, I think this performance was awesome here. I did not like the dancers there either, it was just too awkward. Also the planned jump into the audience was unnecessary imo. I totally got Gagas dancing, though. The music's powerful, dancing on stage is her thing, it would've been weird if she just stood there. They're on stage as equal performers. She's often nearly bare-assed everywhere, her ass is terrific and she's comfortable so I don't have a problem there either. I really think she rocks, I love her raspy voice. I don't understand the hate; what's in her to hate? She's talented, clever and kind human :D hate is for losers :D
Been loving Metallicas new album and it will be a struggle to wait until next year for their tour hitting Helsinki ;)

The Grammys have never really been Metal-friendly. First, Metallica loses to Jethro Frigging Tull, then this, then Megadeth walking out to a bastardized version of Master of Puppets. That'd have been like if Sum 41 had played Symphony of Destruction at Metallica's MTV Icon.

The live version was still more electric in every way, Gaga's vocal were a little less perfect and more raw in the live version. That's a combination of bad & good, to be honest, but the quality of this rehearsal trumps the live one. Her dancing was also better executed when it was live.

grandes Metallica y grande lady Gaga 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

They just won for 72 seasons. But the Grammys is so out of touch they played crazy train as rob accepted the award. James probably swore off the grammys after the Gaga debacle😂😂😂

Yeah well, I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that 99% of the audience was looking at her even when she was dancing

Lady Gaga is a badass fucking singer, if she does rock and metal
Its hard to hear, because your voice is too loud and the song is too low, hurt my ears at 5:42

Actually sounded good with Gaga. But, the dance thing, not a fan. Feels out of place and unnecessary

Cole Jenkins well it wouldn't have been much a performance if she was just standing there. She didn't have a guitar or instrument to play so she had to do something

Gaga didn't get the memo that this was a 'Dress' rehearsal, she didn't get dressed!!!!

replace Gaga with Lita Ford and throw the dancers to the flames, and this could be perfect.
