Very helpful video, thanks. I guess the technology evolves so quickly that new products with new features make it hard to stay current. There are already so many choices from so many vendors.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does someone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Reese Clyde i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
How can I add additional batteries to an NMEA network? For example, my boat has a Garmin 943 display and I just added a 24v trolling setup and want to monitor the battery voltages on my Garmin gauges display? What cable, device or ??? Do I need to add that into my existing NMEA network?
If I have a Raymarine Autohelm ST400 and a RayMarine ChartPlotter can the Autohelm use the Charplotter GPS rather than installling the one that comes with the ST4000
Hi Jeff I wanted to see if you had a little insight about Garmin 93 UHD I’m having a problem with my engine control trim display it is not displaying my trim position all the other gauges work I have installed in an NMea 2000 Network all my gauges and controls work the only one that is not reading the position is the trim gauge i have a 2011 yamaha f150
You stated that the max distance from a device to a NMEA 2000 backbone is 18'. How do we handle top of mast applications (wind, radar, AIS, etc.)? Also what is best for multiple mast devices (separate drop downs or T to T connfigurations)?
Hello, Thanks for your video. We have a problem. As our monitor is a normal display monitor without NMEA2000 system, how to install this monitor to work with the NMEA2000 system. As we want to install the normal monitor and using with a Raymarine e165 Hybrid touch Chartplotter. Is that worktable? If not, then how to do with that?
Sorry, but you are confusing things here. NMEA 2000 is not a parallel connection. NMEA 2000 is built upon CAN bus and this is in fact a serial bus. Parallel means that a full word is transmitted at a time (for example 8, 16 or 32 bits at once, depending on the bus width). A serial bus transmits bit after bit sequentially. What you are describing is network topology. A bus topology interconnects several devices using a common medium. Daisy chain is not a bus, as it is it's own topology. What you are describing first, sounds more like a mesh topology, where every device is connected to each other. Btw, serial doesn't even mean that only one participant is able to talk at one time. You can have full duplex serial connections (RS232 for example). But it is true for CAN and therefore also for NMEA 2000.
Hi Jean Claude, that's a hard one. The flat connector you have is called SeaTalk and the round one is called SeaTalkNG. You'll need to get a Raymarine ST to STNG converter.
Love your informative videos! Thank you so much for all the work and experience you’re putting into this. 🙏

Very true!

@Reese Clyde It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you really help me out!

hi if you have the experience to use the NMEA for connecting a sip and puff driving system to a cruiseing yacht,

If my VHF is plug-and-play with NMEA 2K, does the NMEA power the VHF?

Hi William, max distance of N2K drop is 18ft or 6M. The max length of the network backbone using the Micro-category cabling is 100-meters or 328-feet
So how would one deal with a 55 + foot mast?
And what would you suggest for the multiple device on mast situation?
Bring the backbone to the top of the mast with a N2K tee at the end of the mast. Insert multiple N2K tees on the path to the top of the mast.
Always informative, thank you sir.

Hi Chen, to display battery monitor info on NMEA 2000 compatible monitor you'll need a N2K battery monitor like the Maretron one.
Great short and crspy.God bless u.
Hi can you help me
I have 2014 volvo penta 5.7
What gateway or how to get nmea 2000 plugged to my engine
Thanks

Thanks for sharing Jago, appreciate the clarification.
Underrated comment. Missing information on the use of multiplexers as well.
How do you connect an old display monitor to a new one with the old system was flat, the new one is round? Any ideas? Thank you. It is ray marine

cool, im taking the classes next week, should i be stressed out?
thank you.
Just prepare and you'll be fine.
I'm simply memorized by the jacket. Who makes that jacket?
StormTech, great jacket.

Very stylish, but I also see that it's a little pricey. Maybe I'll ask for my birthday 🙂
Thanks
