  • Archbishop Gomez celebrated the Liturgy of the Passion and Death of Our Lord at noon on Good Friday at the Cathedral. On this day Christians throughout the world commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus. During the solemn liturgy, Archbishop carried a cross into the Cathedral for veneration. Special prayers were offered for the needs of the Church and the world.

Can people not just be in the moment and not feel the need to take photos?

    CLEARLY PAGAN IDOLATRY

Since you wrote this eleven months ago, I hope by now you've come to realize that venerating the cross of Jesus is NOT PAGAN IDOLATRY! What IS "IDOLATRY" (or BLASPHEMY) is the lack of respect and the arrogance toward Jesus and His Catholic Church, which He commissioned his Apostles to establish. The Catholic Mass is an enactment of what Jesus commanded us to do in memory of him, and many of the rituals are directly from the book of Revelations. Unfortunately, men who start their own churches don't understand the beginnings of Christianity, and don't understand the symbolism. Do you really think some preacher that has the gift of gab, and amuses his audience by tickling their ears, knows more then the church fathers, and those who've studied Christianity for centuries?

@@enyjuan The "kneeling" and "bowing" is not to the material that forms the statue nor the item you're looking at or holding, anymore than kissing a photo of a loved one means that you love the paper you're kissing. It's loving or honoring what the item represents - not the material it's made of. That should be obvious!
