While I think the story might make more sense if the play-style were faster paced, I think it suffers from a huge problem that the original LoF did quite nicely, which is to establish a solid protagonist and provide context for the conflict. The setting, “mental” tricks, and atmosphere are definitely improved for this game, but it feels like we’re trying to keep track of three unconnected stories (actor, director, children) and attempting to figure out the meaning behind the “vagaries” is useless when the information is so disconnected. However, we are only in Act 2 of a story which I assume has 5 (given four limbs and a head to give to the mannequin), so things may become more clear later on.
I admire your efforts, on the games behalf, but I can assure you...they don't. You'll be googling 'interpretations' to try and work out just what the heck this was all about, by the end, like everybody else, I expect. I mean, I had my own interpretation, and in some movies/games/stories, I like that freedom of approach to a story. But in this case, the 'plot' and 'characters', such as they are, are so nebulous, thin, not really there, that you're not really given much of anything to interpret.
Blisterdude123 Yeah, I just watched the next episode and other than a nice reference to Metropolis, I didn’t feel any development in the themes of the story. Honestly, the only interesting scene so far has been when they decide which mannequin to shoot. (And the disappearing bathroom, what was that about?)
@@CharlieQuartz I watch this for Tom and Simon, but after Amnesia, every game like this has just been a relatively shallow, lazy copy, without much substance. Some of them are prettier, but that's about all I'd say.
The real question is who doesn't store fish on the bottom shelf? It's best low to the ground as it stays fresher the closer it is to the sea. I'm surprised you don't know that Tomisk, being a pro cookerer.
I feel like Simon should control the mouse and keyboard because he seems completely fine with the monsters- maybe because he is one? Chilluminati confirmed?
I personally call Glitcho Jeremy. Every time it bursts into frame I get to say "oh hey Jeremy" and engage in one way small talk. Takes the fear straight out of the situation XD
The problem that I have with this game is that I don't understand the why of some things. Why mannequins, why on a boat, who am I and what torments me. Some of those things should have been at least hinted from the start, I don't know if I've missed them. LoF1 was a bit more straight forward.
From what I've seen, the mannequins are stand-ins for actors in a scene and were placed by the director. The boat, because it's a movie about a little boy and girl pretending to be pirates (I don't think that's fake, I think that's part of the movie script). As for the torment, I think the MC is the first method actor. I think we have very little in the way of who they actually are (even male or female) because the point is the MC *becomes* their role so entirely, and thus, have lost themselves.
@@cozzbutt I have a different interpretation of the events so far. I think the scenes of the little brother and sister are flashbacks and the brother is the main character who grows up to be an actor, probably from the influence of his sister who always acted like a pirate. In the beginning, we hear someone saying to the actor (maybe his inner monologue), "I know you don't like boats..." when talking about the movie being filmed on a boat. We also know that the brother and sister were sailing to New York, and in the cylinder they just played, we hear a reporter in New York go up to a boy sitting by himself on a bench. When the audio distorts, he says, "Good man, you're mourning." I think something happened and his sister died on their voyage to New York when they were kids, probably because they were stowaways.
I think layers of fear is my favourite horror game ever and whilst I'm really enjoying watching this and I like the idea of this being from the perspective of a child's imagination, my easily scared self does not appreciate the stress of running the fuck away from gribbly monsters, even with the wonder Tom and Simon anti-fear filter
Was that the one where the editor thought it would be a good idea to include actual footage of the _Challenger_ explosion? Because if it is, I think that might have something to do with it.
Yo Tom, idk if you played papers please but you should, it comes across to me as a game you would enjoy. Plus there is 2 of you so it would be more fun and a bit easier.
so they killed their own personality to make the character and that's why ppl can't recognise them, and didn't their manager say they know they don't like boats so it could be their childhood memories /Self forcibly re-emerging also fucking glitcho...
If that is the case, the manager and director could make all twist and turns.(unless that was a previous experience and its just all past history breakdown bullshit)
This game looked like it would be a kinda worthwhile purchase until the chase scenes. They just drag you out of the atmosphere so much. Yes, they're scary, but more of a "boo" than a far spookier atmosphere like the first game. I don't know what happened to the team behind the two games between the development of 1 and 2 but something's gone drastically downhill.
Yeah, it's got "Mixed" on Steam for a reason. The first one was incredible and I hate and am terrified of horror games. This one including the chase scenes with the monster is the biggest downfall.... closely followed by the fact that it's confusing as shit and we still have no idea what has happened. It took about 20 minutes in LoF1 to realise the character murdered his family.
Glitcho: *appears*
Tom: *desperately sprints towards glitcho*
Me: Oh, Tom...
I don't understand the storyline so far but I love when the Riddle Bros play a spooky game.

It's one of those wafer thin stories that thinks excessive vagaries and weird symbolism make up for bad, lazy writing.

So far my theory is that Glitcho is the director gone insane and killing actors/demanding actors kill each other.
glitcho looks like something from "the forest"
Lewis is the #1 Cannibal lmao
Ive been rewatching that series and when Tom said we need to give it a name I thought about Mumpo;but that might've been from Hat Films.
Mumpo, Lumpo, Armsy, Legsy.
It's all about that _FORESHADOWING_
Now, I'm not one to cry over spilt milk, but the jump scare at 17:49 made me... well... I think you get it.

Top high, dry and salted?
Only in the arctic... store a bunch (literally tons) of fish with no climate control and they will go bad exponentially
Fish is actually better stored at bottom shelf to avoid drip cross contamination
Liking the video in fear of Glitcho coming to spook me. Also because it was a good video.
I feel like Simon should control the mouse and keyboard because he seems completely fine with the monsters- maybe because he is one? Chilluminati confirmed?
Thanks for that ending, I needed the laugh!

Glitcho is not a chill cool guy.
Unlike ya boi Rythian
I get the impression that Tom is more mad at than scared of the glitcho running scenes.

Glitcho's real name is Glitch O and his call when he's coming is "Glitcho's coming"
