In that water nothing but water by lakes gators. I am a generational Floridian. Live in Polk County and we just took a direct hit including the eye from Milton. I am always amazed by people thoughts on gators. They truly don’t bother u unless you bother them. Or during mating season or even when the females have laid their eggs. Other then that believe me they don’t bother us. The Flooded Apartment Complex, shown at 19:47. In 2024 it's now called "Cinnamon Cove". When I lived there from June 1980 to June 1981 (44 years ago) it was called W.T.Ward Apartments. I was a College Student at USF Tampa + I worked at Busch Gardens in Food Service. We had LOTS of rainstorms back then, but NEVER FLOODING.....I've NEVER seen anything like this! I lived on the ground floor, in a furnished 1-bedroom apartment & the rent was $150.00 a month. Since I only made $3.00 an hour part-time, my entire monthly paycheck went to rent, and a few quarters for the laundry machines! If I could go a week without doing laundry, I used that extra 50 cents to buy a can of beer from these "newly invented" convenience stores called "White Hen Pantry". 50 cents could buy a tall-boy bear can, too! How did I get this old? How did this place get this flooded? I feel so bad for that apartment complex, it was already VERY OLD back in 1980.

If the general wider public isn’t aware of how bad it is, they won’t open their wallets to help. Yes it stops it being used for its real purpose for a short space of time, but the financial benefit that that one trip could provide back to the community, should not be underestimated.

Stick around. This is Florida. Occasional hurricanes are part of the price we pay for getting to play golf all winter in our shorts.
The blessing we got is the temps and humidity levels are way down from the heat we dealth with before the storm. It's been beautiful out.
Nice enough that my kids asked if we should turn on the a/c when the power came back tonight.
A generator and window a/c are great investments if you want to live here.
He's too busy in Israel
That $750 was STOPGAP assistance, to be followed by other, better assistance. It was not the maximum amount of aid available, it was the MINIMUM. It was just the BEGINNING of FEMA aid!
Governors were given federal aid before the storm arrived so they could prepare for the emergencies.
Praying impacted people follow the direction of Ms Bernatowicz and relocate. The floods, tornadoes and storms will continue to get worse, just like drought has impacted South America. Areas like Arizona and parts of some southern states will soon be uninhabitable.
True and it’s time people start building SUSTAINABILY in safer areas
Hurricane Camille made landfall as a cat 5 and caused catastrophic flooding in 1969. New England was hit by two hurricanes in 1954.

Hear that? 750 bucks is for your immediate disaster assistance right after this happens for things like food, water, medication etc and after that you are entitled to a lot more aid and assistance with temporary housing etc. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Let's face it, donnie never did know how government worked.
750 bucks will get you few days rent in your new place
750 in like 5 days in a hotel lmao
Meanwhile they will launch billions to other countries... great job government
It’s a loan tho people should know that
Excepts DESANTIS has been ignoring Harris n Biden calls til media put it out there. Now he sayin Biden is sending what we need but ITS STILL HIS EFFORTS.
If they didn’t expect flooding means they weren’t required to get flood insurance. They’re screwed.
if you're not in a flood zone, fema foots the bill... assuming they didn't misappropriate the funds
The majority of this area is rental properties
No one will ever get approved for insurance coverage in Florida again after all this
@@georgelin8498 sure they will. Thanks to desantis, ins companies will not be paying out claims unless you can front 30grand in legal fees to make them.

God be with all of you. Im surprised yet VERY much relieved the water isn't deeper. It is so heartbreaking that the people in the paths of Hurricane Helene and Milton have had to deal with so much in so short a time.
Desantis said its was not as bad as they predicted.
Because it wasn't, it dropped to a category 2 when it hit, it was predicted to hit as a category 4
@@IcariumGaming I thought it would hit harder based on it dropping to 4 and then going back up to 5 while making landfall sooner than expected. I guess there was enough wind shear to force it to calm in the final hours before reaching land.
It's not as bad as they predicted but it was horribly devastating... did you see St. Pete?
DeSantis is an idiot.
That's why I was surprised by some comments regarding areas that weren't evacuated saying that the flooding wasn't expected.

Wonder how people in jails, detention centers, and prisons are doing?
I bet they felt trapped throughout the hurricane...

Codes need be revised to require a lifeboat for every residence. A canoe to save you.
Prayers for all affected by this!
How come no news mentions the dangers of alligators, snakes and other wild animals around that can be dangerous ?
That's a good point, Florida swamps are full of gators, pythons, rattlesnakes, bears and all kinds of creepy crawlies.
The odds of being attacked by a gator or venomous water snake aren't as high as you straight up getting nasty bacterial and viral infections due to half of the water your swimming in being sewer run-off and overflow.
It's not that big of a deal man, I lived through Katrina, having no food or water is a lot more of a pressing issue, trust me the wildlife is just as traumatized too.
There is great coverage of them. Washington DC is in the news every day! 🐍🐊🦟🕷️
Because they aren't. Alligators are less dangerous than dogs and any animal that's in that water is in no condition to attack anyone.
It's really bad here. Even non evacuation areas were hot hard. We still don't have power or water. We are losing people everyday.
Any people mocking "poor people" with doublespeak then implementing horrendous programs on them when there were others across socioeconomics classes who didnt or wouldnt will probably be seen.
That’s actually a lot of water looks like a lake wow
I pray for Florida people come back normal soon please take care help each other take care all is well
And your Governor is playing politics with aid. The Speaker of the House is refusing to add funding to FEMA and call Congress back.
Apparently you dont follow the news Biden and Kamala used the FEMA money to bring in and house the illegals....Bodens press secretary said there was no money in t...the Dems denied the disaster fund For Americans...reported spent on the illegals the Dems denied it via Bidens press secretary THEN someone found and played on news channels with the press secretary years ago saying billions were released to hoous ...THE ILLEGALS....ta dum impossible to deny so the strategy Is dont look at US

Okay...?
This is so painful to see. All these people are hurting so much, and they could still get another storm before the season is over.
The poor and the lower middle income people are suffering most; devastating consequences are awaiting for them. They need help; let’s help them; the federal budget should help them survive than funding wars around the world!

We need to get serious about climate change. Yes, hurricanes happen in Florida naturally anyway. But, we can build correctly and protect life.
Naw i'll believe in weather control, or the poles shifting before I believe the World Economic Forum's 2030 climate change agenda.
It's too little, too late. The time to "get serious about climate change" was 20-30 years ago.
At this point, what's going to happen will happen and there's not a thing we can do about it.
The real solution is to leave Florida, this is only going to get more common.

Where's Congress? Speaker Johnson will not recall Congress and says "calls for FEMA funding is premature" with more storms coming and still a month of hurricane season left.
Forgive them a little they're all at home on the campaign trail, that might sounds hollow, but it really is hard work plus there is about a month's worth of funding left so if they haven't come back by then then we should be mad! 🙂
FEMA has enough money for now, but Republicans could be a little more open to funding such agencies
@@jockyoung4491 They only have money because they are pulling it from their 2025 budget. Cant keep kicking reality down the road forever like they have with the actual Budget.

Be safe guys. I hope everyone will be safe.
15 years ago I took an Environmental Studies course at UCSD. This has litterally been predicted. If they did ANYTHING to help prevent this stagnation- even putting more height between them and the water, they would be better
The point is that THIS WAS PREDICTED QUITE ACCURATELY
Well yes, it doesn't take a genius to predict that a midling hurricane will eventually hit any given city in Florida, give or take 20 miles/ give or take 20 years.
To raise a house or building is insanely expensive. To have a whole community do that would not be possible within 15 years though :( the situation is so tragic
Prayers and condolences to everyone affected. May God be with you 🙏
Florida still don’t have flood banks or walls on the coast 🤦🏼♂️ very unprepared for regular hurricanes
Still build homes out of MDF wood
Just build and build, but without climate change prevention it's hopeless just to build.
You know those wall work both ways, right? The flooding comes from the rain. You would just slow the water draining away.
They need to take notes from the Texas hurricane how they build a wall after
@@kangarojack3814 That's only good for areas below sea level against flood surge. It's a negative when dealing with flooding from rainfall.

Showing the state of your community is important... that's what they are doing.
If the general wider public isn’t aware of how bad it is, they won’t open their wallets to help. Yes it stops it being used for its real purpose for a short space of time, but the financial benefit that that one trip could provide back to the community, should not be underestimated.
