- Marsz Triumfalny Jana III Sobieskiego (Triumphal March of John III Sobieski) is a song dedicated to King John III Sobieski (Jan Sobieski) of Poland-Lithuania, following his victory against the Ottoman Empire at the Battle of Vienna in 1683. The Battle of Vienna, where King John III crushed the Ottoman Army at the head of a mass change of Polish Winged Hussars, is seen as the beginning of the decline of the Ottoman Empire, and as the last time the Ottomans were able to threaten Europe.

I am from Croatia, and Croatia and Poland have a remarkable history of friendship! Both were home to or had influence in battles that made the Ottomans get pushed back, the Polish Hussars beat the Ottomans in Vienna and in 1556 Croatian-Hungarian Nikola IV Zrinski won a series of battles against the Ottomans, preventing their further expansion in the balkans for a little bit.

As a Catholic, I really honor this man. Without him and his army of brave Hussars I'm sure Rome would have fallen to the Ottomans and Papacy will surely be dissolved by the Imperialist Turks.

A great leader know doubt, but the gates of hell will not prevail so while Rome could fall, the Church would not. Should the Turks have decided to invade Italy by the Brenner Pass I have little doubt that my family would have inflicted such damage upon that army it would have been weakened beyond repair.

w naszej konstytucji podobno jest opcja referenda dotyczącego zmiany rządu na monarchie jesli z 2/3 ludzi zagłosują za. moge się mylić. ale w sumie jakbysmy zostali królestwem polski, to trzeba by bylo żucić nazwe "rzeczpospolita" a szkoda bo to jako ta orginlna ,pierwsza RP osiągneliśmy szczyt naszej wladzy w europie i nasz złoty wiek. pozdrawiam :D

@@ivankomadanvonrakovac8415 If I’m not mistaken, this song was written after the partitions of Poland, and as such the anger directed at Austria (calling them nasty vipers) is down to the feeling of betrayal that, though Poland saved Austria in 1683, Austria partook in the partitions of Poland 100 years later. Insults towards the Turks is unsurprising, seeing as the Turks were the enemy

Will you upload songs about Admiral Horthy? He was the Regent of the Kingdom of Hungary, but also a very controversial person because he was an Allie of Germany during World War II.
That is a good question, I’m not really sure. On the one hand, as regent of the kingdom, the argument could be made songs about him would qualify for my channel. His association with the Nazis (though in fairness it was mostly out of necessity, and he did end up opposing them) makes me weary of something like that though, I’ll need to think it over

@@Primigenia Horthy’s position in the inter-war period was definitely complex. I don’t really know what to think of his opposition to the Habsburg restoration attempts. On the one hand, he does genuinely seem to have been a Habsburg loyalist, being extremely deferent to Emperor-King Karl, but I think the main reason he opposed restoration was that all of Hungary’s neighbours had threatened to invade if the Habsburgs regained the throne, which he knew Hungary couldn’t win

@@MonarchistMusic as a curiosity I would like to add that during World War II, Hungarian troops got along with AK and gave us weapons and food even during the Warsaw Uprising. In addition, he threatened to blow up bridges and railroads if the German army wanted to invade Poland through the Węgeir territories, so when it comes to the Polish side of view, the admiral deserves to appear on this canal as regent
You should’ve shown less of Wrocław and more of Lwów (the nearest major city close to Sobieski’s birthplace, so basically his home region), besides you forgot to show Poznań. Also, when speaking of Sobieski, then showing Kamieniec Podolski would have been very relevant, considering his lifelong goal of regaining it and the Kamieniec Podolski Castle from the Ottoman Turks.
P.S. And less of the Warsaw Royal Castle and more of the Wilanów Palace. 😋

I remember that when the Ottoman Army besieged Vienna under the leadership of Grand Vizier Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa pasha, it was the Poles who came to help the Austrians. As a result of the sudden attack of the Polish army on the Ottoman army, the Ottoman siege of Vienna failed. As a result of this unsuccessful siege, the Grand Vizier Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa pasha was executed in Belgrade.

Personally i would not call Jan the ''saviour of Europe" since the Balkans would still be part of the Ottoman Empire and would be worse after that.

As for Jan Sobieski, it’s difficult to fully know what would have happened had Vienna fallen. Would the ottomans have been able to conquer Europe? Definitely not, but they may have been able to make significant further inroads, and definitely wouldn’t have held the balkans much longer

Its actually a poem composed by Dimitri Bolintineanu and its sung by the Romanian Army Choir (although only some lyrics are sung). It talks about the last day of Michaels life on August 9th 1601 when he was betrayed by the Austrians before he could capture the Transylvanian capital of Alba-Iulia.

ive never heard of Polish Carlists but as i understand a Hapsburg is the closest relative to the last king via the wifes or mothers side of the family so i would suggest the younger brother that house

The Polish throne was elective, meaning kings of Poland were elected by the nobility, so no not really. However, the brief 3 May constitution of 1793 made the crown hereditary to the house of Wettin, meaning Prince Rüdiger of Saxony or Prince Alexander of Saxe-Gessaphe is the claimant to the Polish throne. Neither of them however live in Poland nor speak Polish

Holy Roman Emperor Charles VII is a grandson of Jan III Sobieski. Furthermore the last Emperor of Austria-Hungary, Charles is a descendant of Sobieski and Charles VII HRE.
For a long time - they are not. Polish kings have been elected by delegates since the 16th century. A bit like popes :)
