    I'm so glad you talked about not needing to sanitize your own house. There's so many obsessive comments saying it ain't clean unless it's bleached and it's just not true. Unless you have an active infectious disease going on there's no need at all.

      Yes! If removing all natural bacteria from one’s home then they will eventually become much more likely to get sick for the smallest of things. Turning your home into a hospital is not the path to go. Your immune system exists for a reason :)

      There are also better cleaners that kill harmful bacteria that aren't severe irritants as well. Sanitizing can be good in high traffic touch points, especially if illness is going around, or if mold or pests have touched things. Besides that you don't have to go crazy.

      She is a nice person, no doubting that, but she is getting paid through the sponsor. She is just not charging the people who ask for her help. And the sponsor is doing that to help the business side grow with the sort of publicity she attracts on youtube. If she was completely selfless, she wouldn't be bothering with youtube (perhaps as there is some money coming her way via her channel) and she wouldn't have sought out or accepted a sponsor to pay her.

    Thank you so very much for speaking out against clorine and sanitizing your home! It is really ridiculous, there will be no hazardous gems in your home! I am also against washng your dishes before you put them in the dishwasher. These machines and the detergents are made to clean the dishes by themselves. It is such a waste of water! I love your videos 🙂

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 2 місяці тому +3

      I never really got that idea of like pre-washing dishes for the dishwasher.. maybe for like really bad pots/pans but they're literally designed to wash your dishes.. it's in the name.. Wash them all in the dishwasher and if something still isn't clean then you know you need to wash it by hand. My mom would always wash everything before using the dishwasher then says how certain things won't come clean then I had to prove to her that it would come clean.. what's funny is she'll complain the whole time about having to wash the dishes.. she makes cleaning take far longer than it needs to then complains it takes too long lol
      As for sanitizing, there is reason to use chlorine and such to sanitize certain things for different reasons but yeah it's not needed for your every day cleaning. Your house doesn't need mopped every single day. It doesn't need swept every day. It doesn't need chlorine in the bathroom to clean it every day.. you're not going to suddenly drop dead from bacteria.. if anything you'll actually be much better off being around some bacteria.

    I know micofiber cloths are beloved by so many, but I just gave up on mine and went back to cotton. I really don’t mind a little lint on our mirrors, cotton rags are better for the environment in many ways. Natural fiber rags were good enough for Buckingham Palace and all the great houses down thru history, I think they are good enough for our little house in California.
    I took some well-used and well-loved cotton tea towels and sewed them back-to-back with squares of stained terry cloth bath towels, and they clean super well. ✨ ✨

      SAME, we're starting to see data that anything "microfiber" (cleaning cloths, sheets, clothing) deposits a lot of microplastic particles into the wastewater, which don't always get removed by water treatment plants, so those particles end up back in the water supply or in rivers and oceans ... and then end up being ingested by humans and fish. Not great. :( Same thing with my (BELOVED! they're so effective!) Magic Erasers / melamine sponges, so I'm trying to limit use of those whenever possible, too. (I don't know if the same thing is true about the tiny particles of quartz/silicates/etc used in things like Barkeeper's Friend, The Pink Stuff, Power Paste and similar.)

      It's fine to use toilet bowl cleaner buuuuuuut not if you been cleaning you toilet with it. Gotta be a separate or new bottle.

    • @ChristyBachman
      @ChristyBachman 2 місяці тому +4

      It is a acid based cleaner so its going to be a harsh chemical like lemon or vinegar. I don’t really see why you couldn’t use it other places than the toilet. If you took the label off and put one that says kitchen cleaner no one would bat a eye about it but because the container says for toilets everyone thinks u cant use it anywhere but the bathroom. Seems a little silly to me, just read the ingredients that will tell you whats in it. 🤷‍♀️

    Do you take any extra precautions when cleaning a home with drug use? We have a big Fentanyl problem in the US, so it made me wonder how you protect yourself against potentially hazardous drug exposures.

    • @michby

      I don’t know if fentanyl is as big of a problem in Finland as it is in the US. I think I did see some drug paraphernalia on that beside table though - a spoon, matches, cigarette filter, possibly a needle - also a condom. I hope this kid is getting ongoing help to stay clean.

    Please don't use toilet-cleaner for your kettle. Yes, it is a strong acid and it works. But the product contains also colourant, fragrances, thickener and a lot of other stuff you should not eat or drink. Vinegar or citric acid ist food-proof and nothing harmfull will remain. If i had to use toilet-cleaner in my kettle, i would at least boil 3 loads and throw away before using the water for drinking.

      I remember doing this a few years back on my plastic kettle, and although it worked really well, it took several cleanings afterwards with kitchen cleaners to remove the smell and potentially other chemicals to fade. Perhaps it's different for a glass kettle that's less porous though?

    Thank you for talking about sanitizing. I rarely sanitize inside my house except for the door knobs, my phone and tablet. Or common surfaces after I get sick. When I come home, the first thing I do is take off my shoes at the door and wash my hands. And of course after you use the restroom, you wash your hands. The best defense for spreading outside germs into your home is being mindful about stopping them from getting in.
    And you don’t need tons of products to clean your house either. I have a small bottle of bleach if I need it, but I only really use it with laundry. I have a couple specialty cleaning things like toilet bowl cleaner, a bathroom cleaner that helps with soap scum, a product for limescale, power paste, and window cleaner. But I clean most everything with multipurpose cleaner or soap and water. My gallon of Mr. Clean lasts for a long time!

    • @lonechristensen8824
      @lonechristensen8824 2 місяці тому +1

      I do believe that you should sanitize your kitchen counters every now and then. And in homes like the ones Auri cleans where there are sometimes mice etc., you should definitely sanitize the kitchen!

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 2 місяці тому +2

      @@lonechristensen8824 That's the thing. Nobody here is saying to NEVER sanitize certain things. It's just you don't need to do it every day or every time you clean. The places she cleans obviously needs harsher stuff because she needs to cut through a lot of dirt and such quickly. The average house though should only need a quick rub down with like a wet cloth and a little dish soap.

    • @Eventide215
      @Eventide215 2 місяці тому +1

      Yeah same, you don't need anything harsh except for rare occasions something happens. I rarely use bleach with laundry as I see no point.. all it really does is harm the fibers.. I'll use it only if like my whites are starting to get a bit dingy. Soap scum is usually easy to fight with just dish soap but if it's bad mix in some vinegar. Again, for limescale use vinegar as well. Power paste and window cleaner you can't go wrong with having. Like you said, I mostly use multipurpose cleaner though like Mr. Clean and it lasts for months.

    • @ajah2956
      @ajah2956 2 місяці тому +1

      @@lonechristensen8824 Understandable, Auri enters homes that can be extreme and deep cleaning and sanitizing is really needed. People who don’t live in the best conditions should sanitize surfaces but it’s an uphill battle if the space stays the same.
      But for people who maintain their homes it doesn’t need to be done daily or excessively.
      Bacteria doesn’t cling to countertops and can be wiped away with simple products. Surfaces that are porous like cutting boards and so forth should be sanitized.
      But everyone cleans and maintains their home however they want. ☺️🙃🙂
