This week, I decided it was time to make my first army for Warhammer. I decided that if I was going to make an army of Space Marines, they might as well all be cowboys as well.
The army will be on display at Colpar’s Hobby Town in Lakewood, CO

Is it me or did anyone else feel like this was the fastest eleven minutes on earth? Between the exquisite detailing and the narration, time vanishes into the WIW.
Great comment!
No it felt like it took ages cos I watched it back to back 3 times
It's to get you to watch it twice!
It also felt like an advert for Warhammer 😄 well the man's gotta eat.
Mad skills, and apparently an art degree. Absolutely brilliant application of color theory and airbrush skills.
"Wait, do you hear that?"
"For tha emp-yeehah!" [hollerin' and shootin' noises]
"Oh no."
**Ominous chanting mixed with country music in the distance**
Walla walla wooow, wow wow woooow
For the Emperor, pardner!!
How about, For Our Manifest Destiny?
You've yee'd your last haw, Chaos varmint!
"This side of cicatrix maledictum ain't big enough for both of us, heretic."
-Brother Captain Cassidy Y. Haw, circa 41st millenium.
Feels like a good blending of the two there.
This comment wins.
“Cassidy Y. Haw” is amazing. I just know the Y stands for Yee lmao
I see what you did there
a smoke stack or two would have worked marvels for that knight... It's already pretty steampunky, it needed only that little bit to push it over the edge to look wild-westy.
That head was screaming for a bandana
Where's the cowboy hat?
Was about to say just the same. Some of the wires that are present on everything else in the Wild Imaginary West could have helped tie this army with the rest too
That and maybe some cow catchers on the Ankles as additional "armor"
@@lucasdeconninck1232 Yes. Those power packs on the marine armors look terribly out of place without the iconic antenae.
I was hoping for a giant cowboy hat on the big guy 😂
Bro that would have been hilarious!!! 😂
Like a hefty big sombrero? Ohh yeaaaa I feel u!
Ah my 3 favorite things
1. A Boylei video
2. Space Marines
3. Cowboys
name suggestion the imperial Marshals, they just need the star badges.
Purity Stars >_
HOLY SHITE that's brilliant! I was Just talking about space marine or astra militarium unit that came from a wild west planet.
The Dust Prowlers, successors to the White Scars.
Imperial Marshals
Emperor's Rangers
Peacemakers
Gunstringers
Gallows Calibrators
Purity Stars
Dust Prowlers
High Noon Highrollers
Smoking Barrels
Ghosts Of Juarez
Sunsetters
Saddleblazers

Wow…the bases, hats, bison horns, spurs, facial hair…so many creative details, and finished off with some of the best painting I’ve seen you do!
This is one of the coolest armies I’ve ever seen!
You definitely should call out @EonsOfBattle for an epic duel. Not only with the army but also sculpting, and painting. That is unbelievable! Great idea, and marvelous realization. Wonderful.
Your creativity is astounding. Beautifully done!
Post Script: The Ramblin' Throne Boys chapter may not be perfectly codex compliant, but their devotion to rootin' out varmints (tyranids), banditos (renegades), outlaws (chaos marines), and such-like malefactors on their homeworld of New New Tejas is second to none.
New New Tejas, amazing 😂
when the homebrew need to be cannon
"Wehll if it ain't the Daemon Prince! G'Day yer """majesty""", ah'd tip mah hat to yah, BUT AH LAWST ET!"
~Deputy Captain Oklahomas Winchestire, 5th Company, Royal Gunstringer Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.
Fun fact: a rotary cannon _is_ a Gatling! They are mechanically identical to the original Gatling gun, just made with modern materials and tolerances.
The main difference is the de-linker, i.e. the piece of space age magic that separates up to 6000 rounds of ammunition per minute from the links of the ammo belt to feed the Beast.
This army is absolutely fabulous. I agree, the spurs are the best part, but it's by a very narrow margin.
It makes me wonder what kind of monumental creatures they are equipped to hunt? The Great Rat King of San Francisco? The Horror at Red Hook? Could it be... have they actually tracked down... a GRUE?!?
I’m in love with the recent Warhammer pop-ins that some of my favourite creators started putting out
It's called gettin' paid. Thank GW.
@@Drew776655 as a tabletop player, I am taught from the beginning of my journey as a player to hate GW. So, no, I shan’t. Lmfao
Nope. Hate them.

Those are adorable and hilarious! Wild West Space Marines! Awesome!
Probably the best mashup ever! Love the Wild West marines!
This is so awesome. I have a Studio Ghibli themed Ork army and have used purple-y shadows as well. It adds so much to the final look!
Looked you up on insta, looks awesome my dude. Love me a good ork conversion😅
Please let one of them have a tiny cowboy hat on!
Edit: YESSSS
Once upon a time, I was thinking up a Western-themed Space Marine Chapter called the Steel Riders. I debated about if I wanted to keep it grounded in the 40k aesthetic or go fully Western with it. In the end, I never ended up doing any models at all. This is exactly how I pictured the fully Western idea though. So it was truly amazing to see this video!
Best ever use of Warhammer miniatures. Ever.
...EVER!
I am so amazed at your skill. The creative approach to your work is incredible. I've enjoyed your videos for quite some time now and can't get over the beautiful work you do. I'm 70 years old and I'm learning from you. Love your work!
this is the MOST ingenious conversion iv'e seen dude.
He could have easily edited it out, but instead he had us also feel the pain of the stubborn piece of tape!
Amazing paint job and imagination; to both think it and pull it off!
I laughed out loud. :)
Who else wants him to do another wild imaginary west build
👇
Meeeeee! It's by far his best series
I can’t express how unbelievable cool this is.
Love these minis, cowboy space marines was not something I knew I needed but now I have received it it will live within me forever
I was unsure of how this would turn out until the reveal but I was really surprised how nicely they all tie in together, they really do have that wild west theme and I think you communicated it very well.
I’ll be so sad once this imaginary west series concludes. Amazing work and great story telling 🙏💪
I would LOVE to see you use these minis you have been making with actual bases in a wargame battle. Even if just one time only, I don't know if you have ever actually played any tabletop battles, but you definitely have a worthy army for 40k now and seeing them work on the tabletop would be a neat "side project" to your amazing work.
Also, just as a side note: this army might seem to someone new to Warhammer 40,000 that it "doesn't fit", but the beauty of all the various lore for 40k is that almost anything can fit if you come up with a story for why. I could imagine this army being a Space Wolf based army (using the Space Wolf rules) that was simply raised on some planet where the western theming was part of every day life for the people there, and being very much one of the more "traditionalist" factions within the various chapters of Space Marines (maybe this side of the Black Templars and their obvious ties to a more knightly design), these Space Wolves retained all their adopted home world's western styling as a result of having grown up there and not wanting to lose that part of them that helped raise them and make them worthy of being Space Marines in the first place.
A literal rough and tumble planet of hostile forces that allowed each one to survive being Space Marine scouts and turn into the Emperor's Chosen.
And so the wolf aspect makes sense as well, as in the Wild Imaginary West, giant and dangerous wolves are a constant threat, just like on this Secondus chapter's homeworld, and because these men made Marines are so tough, they tamed those massive wolves as mounts to ride in honor of trying to become Space Marines for their future life off world. Could even be a whole rite of passage to tame your very own wolf as mount, companion, and show of strength that you have what it takes to become a Marine when the chapter comes calling for more.
Space wolves successor or White scars either way it looks good.
Might I recommend putting a smokestack on the knight, it may help it feel more like a steam train
Great video, cool miniatures, amazing conversions, fantastic paintjob and the struggle with the tape... About my favourite of your videos yet. Keep them coming!!
Love where you were headed with this. The dark and gritty feel is fantastic.
Awesome inspiration Boylei! Soooooo cool! This army deserves to be played with though! Thanks for your awesome videos.:)
Love Boylei and love Warhammer ❤ perfect mix
The transformation of those minis into wild west motif is amazing - worked great. I love it!
This video is so epic! Miniatures are painted so cool looking! I wish I had your finesse when painting! BY far one of my favorite videos on your channel, and I love a lot of your vids. Keep up the good work!
I always enjoy seeing and watching. Beautiful piece of art 😍😍
I love the customisations - so perfect!
Fantastic! Please, continue growing the army with additional units.
Always such awesome detail, would love to see your skills on sculpted and painted furs.
I'm blown away, this brings my love for Warhammer, Knights and The Wild West together! Thank you for this! I really hope this pushes you beyond 1Million subscribers!
Holy wow, I love everything about this. I wish I could see it in person.
i started watching your channel when i wanted inspiration for building warhammer terrain so this is great, love this channel.
Please make more WIW videos! I love watching you make such involved, story driven dioramas! The fact that these all share a universe and form a cohesive story makes this all the more impressive!
These all look so good! One of my favorite ones is the knight cowboy with the revolver in the air drawing his sword/dagger.
love this kitbash!! awesome setting to play warhammer!!! i would love to see more like this!
This was amazing to watch! I didn't even realize it was 11 minutes. Incredible work! Definitely liking and subscribing.
The bison horns are a very nice touch!. Great build.
I have a necromunda gang of delaques (first ed sculpts) with the cowboy hats from the big cowboys you can get in the toy aisle at Woolworths or Coles.
The reason it works is because Delaque figures had overcoats that reminded me of the ones from Sergio Leone westerns. The heavies were given uniforms from the ACW artillery units. Both North and South.
I later did the same for some Regiments of Renown Horse artillery. Though I did include one gun with the RHA uniform and French uniform (I think). These were from WHFB before it went stupid.
Just saw this in person looks so cool
Absolutely awesome video! Great job!
I’m really happy to see you paint your first army ! When you said you didn’t find a space marines horse cavalry, I immediately thought of someth cool you could do, and that would be to purchase the serberys raiders from the Adeptus Mechanicus, which comes in units of three, and then use them as proxies for the thunderwolf cavalry. What’s even cooler with that, is that this unit is already kind of set in the wild imaginary west !! Seriously, they have cowboy revolvers, rifles, and even sabers, they’re only missing a cowboy hat !!! I would love to see you make that, but your wolves look awesome and are perfect as they are, as well as the others models you painted !
One of my favorite games and channels combined ,this is awesome Semper Fidelis
Absolutely incredible work! I would love to see you play a game with this army.
Combining some of my favorite things!!!! Love the army!!! ❤
What an amazing Warhammer theme. That giant knight turned out just as you said looking like an old steam train. That face shield may have looked pretty boss with red also like it had a bandana hiding its face. Love your vibe, love your story telling.
I love the creativity in these videos. Melding two worlds can be difficult, but you make it look easy. Happy Modeling ~ Cory
So creative and detailed. I think you can remake anything to fit into your Wild Imaginary West. I love it!
Just wow!! Phenomenal job on this one. Love the cowboy hats! Absolutely cool.
Awesome stuff!! Well done on another great project and video.👏👏👏👏
Fantastic results!
What a wonderful gamut of basing techniques :)
You have a really unique and cinematic way of painting
This is awesome! I've been working on an army that looks like bioshock with the new Solar Auxilia kits, also using a cerastus castigator
Amazing paint work.x
They all looks freaking awesome!
I love how my Warhammer binge has brought me right back to you. There are some amazing Ideas in here.
This was a beautifully done video and this scheme is incredible. So damn cool
This reminds me of some wild west/ steampunk Orcs I made about 15 years ago. ❤ Every mini looks better with a mustache and a cowboy hat.
These are true art. Love watching them come to life.
SO SICK, this makes me unbelievably happy
those marines came out flawless! I had my doubts, but you outdid yourself.
Its amazing how you made these look not like space marines at all with a few customizations. Love it ❤
This is such a fantastic conversion; seeing all the little changes like the sculpted facial hair makes these so charming. But I think my favorite part is that despite the fact that you picked the models for their aesthetics, it's almost a perfectly legal 1000 point army! I checked the numbers!
10 Reivers: 170 points
3 thunderwolves: 90 points
Dreadnought: 135 points
Allied Knight Castigator: 465 points
And I think that last model is UR-025, from Blackstone Fortress? You could proxy it as a leader for the Reivers. A Captain in Phobos Armor is 80 points.
All total that's 940 points, which leaves just enough wiggle room to pick some enhancements!
I have to say, I really enjoy watching a modeler have fun with the hobby, and not take it so seriously. That being said, the quality of your work is still really inspiring and I learn a lot from the videos
You just wild western everything😂 keep going, I love it, so creative, and you talk us through the process.
Cant wait for the next bid.
Incredible as always
That's such a creative approach to WH painting, chapeau !
I love this! It was a lot of fun, thank you!
I very much appreciated you leaving in the wee fight with the masking tape, 10/10. Take a sub.
The cowboy roundup team looks amazing, well done.
It was so cool to make the trek to see the army in person (and buy some more nerd supplies). Thank you for sharing this with all of us!
In my head, I think of this channel as mainly a kitbashing/scratch building channel. So, whenever I see how great the sculpting is, I'm always surprised. The beards, the moustaches, and the skull all look like they came right off of a sprue.
Nicely done!!
I need to see a full army in this theme. Also battle reports with it
Great job! Very enjoyable.
such a cool concept, I love it!!
A smoke stack on the bigest one would have given it that locomotive vibe. All fantastic.
8:56 always hate when that happens its like: Get off.. get off.. GET OFF!
Brother not the Quest for Camelot reference. Deep cut!!
Amazing work, man! Keep it up!
The bison- Horns on the dreadnought! Excellent work!
Never not impressed with your work. You've inspired me to show my own work, starting with the Minneapolis Geek craft expo this month. Thank you for you inspiration
40k guy here. This army looks incredibly awesome! Those 6 shooters and cowboy hats!, wow. Very cool BHT. 👍
That music cue has got me going to rewatch Firefly again. This is awesome.
Awesome work!
This is great would love to see more! A custom apothecary, tech marine, and/or chaplain for this theme would be fantastic
That is one very awesome army, super cool. 👍👍👍👍
This is by far one of the coolest warhammer conversations I've seen. Chefs kiss!
8:53 I love this bit, and the pause 🙂
So many Patrons, well deserved of course! How many though? I've tried counting them as has my grandson, who absolutely LOVES every video from Boylei.
Loved this video. Perfect accompaniment to a good cup of coffee. Thanks ;)
Although I truly enjoyed every moment of watching you make this diorama/scene... I really appreciated that little piece of stuck tape. How many times I've had that happen while filming!
