    I was apprentice at Aiton, and as part of that worked six weeks, summer 1982 at Drax, had digs in Cawood close to Wistow. Really enjoy your videos.

    I had 25 years in the mining industry including 18 years at Wistow, brings back happy memories.

    crikey, 3,159,000 tonnes sounds huge, i doubt many mines matched that, and this mine only lasted around 20 years, considering how bad the geology was it did well to last that long, thanks for the video and all the research

    Work there for 19 years on coal face headings some good conditions some bad great set of lads

      I took redundancy in 1993, was glad to get out at the time but look back with fond memories. Was a fitter and installed the first tunneling machine after the contractors had sunk the shafts, a MK 3 Dosco, that was about 1980 or 81 I think.

    I worked at 9 collieries from 1960 to 1992 and they where all dark dusty and dangerous but i would not have changed it because all the hard working men that worked down these pits
