I give my theories and predictions for the story which could be focussed on Francesca Bridgerton and Michaela Stirling or Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Beckett. I agree... I think she'll have the baby so that the heir is present. I also think that she'll start developing feelings for Michaela while still married to John. Once John dies, the guilt will eat her alive and then she will finally give in. Not much change from the actual book. People are doing too much with their tweets and comments. Smh

It doesn't even make sense in the Bridgerton era as it was frowned upon and you would become an outcast in society if you declared a homosexual relationship in public. Not needed, unnecessary and whatever else. This is an already established story, she meets MICHAEL not bloody Michaela 🙄

@@sanfields2394 I don't watch programmes which don't resemble the books I've read. As far as I'm concerned, what they've done to Benedict, Francesca, and Eloise's stories, and giving Violet a love interest, is sufficient reason to stop watching.
I fast forwarded most of the third series which means I saw it in a fraction of the time.
That Michaela twist pissed me off. I was rooting for Francesca and Lord Kilmartin, they reminded me so much of my love story. It was so refreshing to see an introverted love story. With that twist it makes it look as though she was only so reserved because she was not so attracted to John and he was some kind of stepping stone to discovering herself. Introverts never get anything!
Not only that but we don't get Benedict defending women and going against toxic masculinity as a kind, sensitive, talented artist. So we're not going to see Benedict fighting for women when we hardly see that as is? They also weakened a lot of the female characters throughout the story. Mama Bridgerton ran that house and kept her boys in line, but in the show they have Anthony running it and disrespecting her. Why?
Agree. It’s very forced and I don’t get it.
Loads of people were saying he wasn’t attractive enough and now they want to complain again.
I loved their story as well, being an introvert myself and finding it relatable. However, the story is following the books. The only change is that in the book it’s Michael not Michaela.
@@easyveganfoodie I think you may have missed the point. She married John then she fell in love with Micheal another man and married him... fine. On the show, everyone doubts their relationship because it lacks "sparks", she said she's going to Scotland to "discover herself" away from her family. When Micheala shows up she's immediately tounge tied and has an immediate "spark" like her mom described. It completely downplays what she has now and makes it seem as though she settled because she hasn't discovered her sexuality yet.
This show is getting lost in queer baiting. Whether it's the Michaela thing or whatever they were doing with Benedict this season. A big part of Michael's character is how he felt like an imposter for being in love with John's wife and inheriting all his stuff after his death. How will they adapt that with Michaela?

Im starting to think I am done with the series. Lady Whistledown carried the show. Now that everyone found out Penelope has a son, theres no more drama gossip but I hope Pen still gets to be a writer.

If they wanted to do an LGBQ+ story, they should have done it with Eloise. They’ve changed her enough already that it would be feasible, especially since her book is rather controversial anyway.
Instead they take away from Francesca, and completely upend her struggles with infertility and loss.
This is definitely a loss for those of us that struggle with our fertility 💔

Yep, Eloise was the best choice for representation. They messed up big time making it Benedict and Francesca
They could still show her struggles with infertility and loss. She is still married, they won’t show her running off with his cousin. I can see why they chose her because it’s more realistic for a widow to be with a woman later without raising suspicion. But for Eloise it would have been too suspicious and much more unrealistic for the time. And it would further perpetuate her feminist character as a man hater if she never fell for any man.

Changing the color of the characters is fine, changing the sex of the character is wrong in my opinion.

Changing the color is fine if you choose other colors. How coincidental is it that every Bridgerton woman is with a blk guy? (Hyacinth will be because of the story) only Eloise might not be, but I will bet that she will be.

@@blooms454it was easier to introduce colored characters bc they could explain it that it’s bc the king decided to love one and they became equal, but by changing the gender there’s new problems it’s been explained in the show enough times that those of the LGBTQ are welcomed by society, and they can’t explain it through “the royals are doing so it so it’s fine” bc they can just suddenly marry and be like “same sex marriage is ok now”, now that they changed the gender more issues approach
Very disappointed with the Michaela choice. I think we all really wanted to see Michael because he is very different from all the other love interests. We were all looking forward to that story the most. Don't know if they started filming yet but maybe they can still change it at our request. If not then I think they really dropped the ball on this one.

I am completely agree. Francesca and Michael’s story is my favorite and so much different from the rest. Although Francesca is not as loud and different from her siblings, they made it too extreme. And now by Michael being changed to Michaela all of a sudden, she cannot have children. The struggle she experienced with Michael having two children was very important to her story of desperately wanting to be a mother and having difficulty to become one. That storyline will be gone which I find important. Overall, this change is not for the better. It is sacrificing the character and her essence for the sake of inclusivity but with a subservient plot.
If they wanted a queer/LGBT story on Bridgerton, they should have focused on Brimsley and Reynolds.
Netflix screwed the pooch on this one. George RR Martin said it best.
“No matter how major a writer it is, no matter how great the book, there always seems to be someone on hand who thinks he can do better, eager to take the story and "improve" on it. "The book is the book, the film is the film," they will tell you, as if they were saying something profound. Then they make the story their own. They never make it better, though. Nine hundred ninety-nine times out of a thousand, they make it worse.”
Case in point: Brigderton.

I feel like it's a stereotype the way they wrote Benedict's character for the show, as if straight men cannot be artistic and sensitive. His character was important in the book because there are not a lot of straight men like him that go against toxic masculinity and we hardly see that in media. I feel like they were doing a fan service because the fans wanted Benedict to be gay which is sad because I was looking forward to Benedict fighting for women. I also don't like how they wrote a lot of the female characters to be less strong than they actually are in the books
I think Benedict is still mostly straight. It’s not that artistic men can’t be straight, it’s that creative types are also more likely to loosen up and explore. Sexuality is a spectrum. He’s still gonna end up with a wife. Lots of married straight dudes have experimented with dudes, trust me!
actually you don't know that. The way the show is going, he could end up with a man and they may change his story altogether. It was important to show him as a sensitive straight man that defends women because we hardly get to see that in any sort of media. That's one of the reasons why his character was always a favorite of the readers, because there's not a lot of men like him that go against the standards of toxic masculinity. Iff they wanted, they could have just brought in a new character like the way they wrote him now, but of course we're talking about the same writers that decided to weaken Violet Bridgerton. In the books she kept the boys in check and Anthony never disrespected her the way he did on the show. There's a reason people are upset with the writers
All of the female characters are written to be strong in this show. What are you talking about? They're all portrayed as stronger than the men. Almost all of the families have mean fathers or dead ones, while the mothers rule over everything.
I feel that IT will also completely destroy the story of Benedict and Sophie, while the book was so beautiful and together with the series Benedict IT could have been the most successful series... but its not, right? If Sophie is going to be replaced by a Guy I almost Hope netflix doesnt give them another extension

Daphne wasn't as delicate in the books, she hung out with the guys more than Eloise did and they always talked about how Daphne could pack a punch which would have made more of an impact when she defended herself because she was a lot more fragile flower on the show

In the book colin was the one who took Penelope's side and stood by her in support. he was the one who broke the news of Penelope being lady whistledown and he was proud admitting it.
But in show he was standing in the crowd still angry with her and only after her speech did he really and finally talk with her with softness in his voice. In whole show he never professed his love and admiration to her properly while Penelope was showing her love and confessing it to him on multiple occasions.
In 2nd season Anthony's possessiveness was top notch and in this i.e. 3rd season it was like only Penelope love colin while colin like a child with crayon was busy drawing pictures snd choosing which he liked the most. It was like the character lacked sincerity. I am sorry if it hurts but then i am just writing what i observed.
Especially when collin called pen that she entrapped her. Like I just boils right there. He is the one that run to her carriage and do all the stuff. Also of all the people,he must know not to say it when everyone even portia thinks pen entrap collin. It triggers all the pen trauma, when everyone think she is not worth it. She felt unconfident as it is and collin just give blugger to her.
I won’t watch Francesca story if they are change her love interest to a girl. I have nothing against the LGBTQ 🏳️🌈 community, but that not her story. Francesca story is my favorite from the books, and I don’t want it change this drastically.

@@sarthakarya02 it was not since it enhanced the stories of previous seasons. However, right now I feel like the writers are getting too ahead of themselves; this is too much deviation from the source material. The story and quality now suffers because of it.

No intention of watching Bridgerton anymore. They really did a terrible job with season 3 being all over the place. Now with the gender swap and the ridiculousness that was the Benedict this season I have no interest. People can call me whatever they want but the bottom line is that I actually read these books years ago and dug into this series bc early production said they would honor the storylines. This has just turned into a HBO style free for all with little concern for the literary aspects or even just good writing at all and I am SO glad that they told us what is coming so I don't waste another thought on it.

I didn't really like this season, I felt like the story of pen was rushed and gave too much attention to Francesca's story line... I felt like they were focusing on two main stories in one season. That is something I didn't enjoy, because I felt like Pen and Colins love story was rushed and missed... idk something... ( I haven't read the books, so I don't know if these story lines we the same in the books). I hope in the future they focus more on only one Bridgerton sibling. I don't mind side show storylines, but Francescas storyline felt more like a main storyline and not just background or laying foundation for her season.
In romancing mr bridgerton episode, barely any of it focused on the main couple lol. All they got was their s3x scene in episode 5 and that's it
Could you imagine a whole season dedicated to Benedict. In that case it prefer the 2 love story season. However they should’ve took more time on Penelope and Colin. Penelope is one the series leads in my opinion and should remain one throughout.
The new show runner isn’t very good
This season wasn't pen's... it was everyone' season. The producers decide to split an 8 episode season in two and then the characters that should have been the core of the season were treated like an afterthought... Sorry but they really messed up the season.

Same. They were dealing with emotional barriers and pursuit of happiness after loss of loved one issues in the book. But now it seems the focus of their story would be elsewhere 🫠

You can pretty much just not call it Bridgerton at this point the way they are no longer going by the books. It isn't just the Michael thing, its all of it but it kinda is. like Colin in the book isn't the same as Colin in the first half, or the second half. The book Colin everyone liked would have never bolted after finding out. He would have forced her into the carriage. What was the point of Mondich family? They served no purpose in progressing the story.
Mondritch family was funner to watch than whatever Benedict had going on...

I felt like the Mondrich family reminded me of Lady Danbury in Queen Charlotte season. It was showing the restrictions and expectations of society but they really underwrote it. To much focus went to randomly placed threesome scenes.

If GOT could release new seasons each year at the start of the show, I honestly have no idea why are shows failing so badly today.
The show runners were banking on the fact that Michael is such a popular character that the fans would’ve accepted anything. The actors have really been let down by their own people and I feel bad for them.
I’m calling the time of death for Bridgerton, June 13th, at least for me lol.
They should not prolong the next season. People are losing interest with all the character changes. Strike while the iron is hot.
They haven't even finished writing season 4 yet but have heard they are close to finishing it. . Then 8 month of filming then at least a yr of editing. That's at least Summer of 26 at the earliest.

I personally am pissed off with the direction the show is going and might not watch the other seasons unless it’s Eloise. I am neither conservative nor liberal but I hate when people are trying to force their ideology on others. If you are gay, straight that is your prerogative but why do you have to change the sex of the character to appeal to a certain demographic. Francisca’s story is not my favorite but why do you have to change the direction of the story. They should have closed her romance since John dies and fans probably feel in love with the actor. Claudia Jessie and Luke Thompson have been in the show since the beginning and we already know who Sir Phillip is. Why would you put the focus on the Francesca character to appease the LGBT group. I know the actors probably don’t care but I think it’s a disrespect to the actors who have been in the show from the beginning. I think as a viewer and a reader of the books I should get the story close to what I expected. If the book or story was written from the LGBT perspective then make it that way and I based on my beliefs can decide if I want to see the show. Don’t trick me into viewing your show and put ideas I might not be in agreement. Obviously I might get dislikes about my comments but at least I found a video with comments of people who felt somewhat the same.
I hope Michaela has a twin named Michael. There’s still plenty of time to fix this mistake and give the gentle readers what they’ve been waiting on. Shonda seems to always shoe horn unnecessary twists. It’s pandering but think it’s forward thinking. It’s condescending.

One thing that amazes me is why can't they just make original Bridgerton queer story. They have living author there, and Ms Quinn is very open to writing other books based on show. Let her write story about gay Bridgerton cousin (child of the aunt Francesca was living with?) who meets love of their life, then have struggles and then, say, happens to reveal their love to very accepting, warm and loving family members. Queen doesn't have to know, as well as the ton. But no, just go ahead and destroy already loved, estabilished character and plots.
They already made Kanthony marginal couple of their own season, and now Polin is following through. Too much characters, not enough episodes for all of them. And introduction of Michaela, Eloise's decision and no Sophie anywhere in sight made me sure Fran's season is next. They will let her have her summer of marriage, make her pregnant, then John will die and his wife will forget him in matter of weeks. Eloise will have her non-book-related adventures and maybe will start correspondence with Sir Phillip... or Theo. And we still won't see Sophie, because Ben won't be ready for commitment for two more seasons. They won't push it further, because there is no more older sibilings to wed before him, and I guess they will let Gregory and Hyacinth be children for a bit more.
I really enjoyed Brimsley/Reynolds storyline, and Mr Granville is one of my favourite supporting characters, but Francesca/Michaela is not something I'm looking forward to. And it's a shame, because I really found Fran very interesting in this season. But I'd much prefer Eloise to be gay, if someone have to.

Can you or someone explain Michaela. Is that the person that was traveling back to Scotland with Fran and her husband. I must have entirely missed it.

There are comments under Julia Quinn’s IG calling her out for not writing an original work for inclusion when she promotes it. People are annoyed that she has the ability to do so but instead allows Michael to change genders creating all this backlash and fights in the fandom. I understand why people are frustrated that it feels like you either aren’t worthy of true representation of your own story or you see a story that has resonated for infertility and grief become lost.
@@Amber86queenbee If I have understood it correctly, Shonda R. bought all rights from Julia Q. when deciding on making a series. That means Shonda has liberties to make any changes that she wants to make (depending on the contract). She likely consults with Julia on the script but that's how it works when authors make deals with movie or tv producers.
They made benedict bisexual and then the cousin is now Michaela - looks like Francesca is gonna have girl to girl romance. I have nothing against LGBTQ Romance but i didn’t expect the next seasons to be so different from the book. Like the ML changed to an FL. I wasn’t ready for that
Th we show doesn’t copy the book 100% that’s what makes it different, they’re most likely not. Even getting together and the fuss is for nothing … she left with him and to return with her when there’s most likely gonna be a time jump isn’t likely …they’d have to film a bunch of scene explaining etc.. will most certainly won’t happen cs that’s what been happening and leave important characters with bare screen time , they’d probably just wanna focus on the bridgerton sibling it’s gonna be about Francesca already took enough attention away from pen and Collin I doubt she’ll be focused on a lot , they probably won’t make her a widow like that

Their story will make no sense. So evrything needs to be changed why name her Michaela. She will be NO Michel!! Could have nemed her Amber, Brittany or Chelsea. But she will and could not be Michael.

With all the changes made to the story, they shouldn’t call this Bridgerton. They should make their own show and characters instead of piggybacking off of a decent book series. Changing Michael’s gender was the final nail in the coffin for me. It’s just disrespectful to the source material. Make new gay characters. Don’t change the existing sexualities of established characters.

@@anishasamuelkahlkot I actually feel bad for Julia because she worked hard on writing this series and Netflix has shat all over it. Fran’s story is a fan favorite because how relatable it was. She loses her beloved husband and miscarries the child she longed for. Then, after years of mourning, she decides to remarry again to have children before it’s too late and struggles with her difficulty to conceive. Michael was also a fan favorite because his character felt so real too. After the death of his cousin, he feels guilty because he fell in love with Francesca and struggles with inheriting the earldom. Netflix took one of the sweetest stories and crapped on it for lazy “representation”. I’m glad fans are seeing this for what it is-bad writing and weak pandering.

Exactly! I would have preferred Eloise as the queer character cause Philip was a complete jerk in the books. But Francesca's book was so good. Infertility and grief are also complex themes that shouldn't be ignored 😢.
I hate how they merely alluded to Colin’s jealousy over Penelope being a good writer and how they never fleshed out him BEING a writer himself and have it feel like the BOOK HE PUBLISHED was deserved IN HIS OWN SEASON.
Season 3 feels more like Jess Brownell just puked short lived plotlines and a LOT of unnecessary LBGBTQ+ sprinkles over Benedict AND ESPECIALLY FRANCESCA.
I keep saying it, there was not enough time dedicated to the main couple 😂

If the next season is about Benedict then okay, focus on Benedict too to give us a hint, but leave the rest for when their respective seasons are near! After waiting a great length of time for Season 3 and watching the over the top promotion of Polin around the world, the resulting Season was very disappointing. Benedict's role was mired in nonsense leaving a difficult path forward if the development of his character is supposed to evolve to Sophie. The inference of Francesca being with Michaela rather than Michael is just a desperate attempt for ratings with no view on where the audience trends are changing and heading. Shondaland might be in for a crash (think Bud Light) if they keep going down this path. Two years before airing Season 4 might find a very different audience who will not be amused by this abuse of these good story lines in the book. Poor business decisions being made here. What started as a really great series, has been slowly eroding into a 'train wreck'. Netflix might pull the plug on Shondaland.

The show runner has admitted (article from TVLine) that it's basically self-insertion. Pretty much the same thing that is ruining Doctor Who. And folks associated with Dr. Who said early in the season with all the LGBTQIA++ stuff added they would get three new fans for every old fan that left. Guess what? The ratings are in the tank. The point is, don't alienate large segments of your existing fanbase. It didn't work for Marvel, Star Wars and Doctor Who and it's not going to work for Bridgerton.
They could have easily told a story about another relative of John's who is gay or lesbian that becomes close friends with Francesca, allowing her to understand their issues in society and become empathetic to them, without turning Francesca gay and Michael into Michaela.

So I hate how the treated his character so far always sleeping with someone every season except for a self journey arc. Now changing Michael to Michaela felt like a being stabbed in the back, Michael was the first point of view in the story of how he fall in love with his cousin’s wife.. raking around as a result.. then life give him a chance but he felt guilty first then finally accepted his allow to be happy. FYI I it would been like if you read heartstopper and then the show runner decided to make it Nikki and Charlie or Charlotte and Nick to just please some people and themselves.

I don’t like that twist. I was excited for francica’s Johns and Michael’s story. Because it is a good one in my opinion. But changing Michael to Michaela ruins it. And the story will make no sense.
And I hate the way Francisca looked at Michaela, because why are you looking at someone else like that when you just married. So disrespectful towards John. And Michael and Francisca (book) would and could never do that. That was the whole plot of the book.
One thing I liked about that book was that John and Francisca love never died and it was sincered. But by how the show is acting, it looks like John is going to be thrown on the background for Michaela. And it was never like that in the books.
The love that Michel had for Francisca never took away the love he had for John or the love Francisca had for John.

The introduction of Michaela was so awkward! She just entered the scene and said her name in a flirty way as if the writers needed to make sure we know she is one of the main characters now. They should have kept it at a natural greeting and do the chemistry thing in her season instead

Francesca ending up with a partner of the same sex does not at all appeal to me. Although, plausible, on account of Francesca's reserve and her ineptness to be engaging, I believe the writers/producers have no understanding of Francesca's and Michael's story of love lost ... and found. This gender change will destroy people's illusion of two of Quinn's main characters. Obviously, the show's creators have their own agenda and want to appear progressive. Bear in mind that people during period times, were closed minded to numerous things, i.e., rakes were seen as perverts, the smallest whisper of gossip surrounding a debutante could ruin her for life, and gays in fear of being exposed and imprisoned, were forced to move to France, where society was more forward thinking. The retelling of history isn't always accurate, but there is a reason why people read historical romance and watch period films where among the ton, restraint, restrictions and rigid rules reigned. People are expecting to be charmed by a hero that is handsome, charismatic and totally besotted with his cousin's wife. How disappointing to discover Francesca's love interest is a woman. It also shows a lack of respect for Quinn's writing and her fabulous stories. I will understand if this series loses a lot of its fans.
Not sure that I like all the changes that have been made to the original stories. But then I don't like people messing with my Shakespeare either. If the story was good enough to start with to consider filming it why change it?

I absolutely agree although , I fear if people then would even have atleast as much integrity as they do have today. I hope the reconsider a lot of the decisions that they have made for the upcoming seasons. It would be futile to lose a great deal of audience if they make such drastic changes.

They were lazy to turn character sexual preferences in order to represent same sex couples. It's disrespectful to the book fans. They were too lazy to create new characters and weave them into the season. You can represent all types of relationships without changing original characters. There's zero interest in Benedict now. We'll never believe his love story now that we've seen him in a casual 3 some. Just because he's artsy and sensitive doesn't mean he's free enough to hook up with guys. It's out of the blue ..too much. They should have created a new character and play out those scenes.
He did it in the begging of season 1 but Francesca showed no interest at ALL except in John and Micheal not michela michela could have been introduced as a side character for Benedict while he ends up with Sophie she could have been the girl leading him into the DARK bi sleeping with men and women and just the wild lifestyle and after doing all that he realized I love Sophie and Sophie was about to move on with another suitor and leaving town or something I would have thought Francesca has a little bit of autism instead Libya+changing race okay but gender is a whole different concept when the book states the gender and very masculine one at that..

I first read "an offer from a gentleman" and i loved the cindrella like love story between sophie and Benedict.. completely changing the character arc for the sake of few fans is not done..it seems forced to a certain extent. booth Francesca and Benedict have wonderful love stories in the books.

S2 was weaker but I liked Anthony and his struggles were relatable.
S3 was trash. Colin is weak, Pen's character is all over the place and then Francesca..... a travesty.

Seriously, it's incredible how little they care that this is already a finished story, it seems inconsiderate to me to change the most important thing about Bridgerton: its romances. I plan to watch every season but I already know in advance that I'm not going to like Francesca's story even if they miraculously write it well because I've already read the books and this series is supposed to attract you to read the books (which did with me) but I already prefer that other fans don't even read the books because they would start to hate the series that ignore us, fans of the books, so much.
I love that they are changing the stories specifically because I've read the books.
So many book plots are similar and boring.
I would freak out if they end up killing Marina Crane (after all she had been through) and turn Eloise to the stepmother of twins and married to a man who only wants a nanny that is also available for sex.
In the case of Francesca, I also hope they don't kill john since they have so much in common.

As for the other changes, it doesn't really bother me as long as they do them well, but the story of the Bridgertons is a romance and that's the only thing I would like them not to change: the couples. But with Francesca they ruined it and that bothered me, everything has a limit and they already crossed it for me.

If fran doesn’t have kids with john then who gets the estate and money. She likes the quiet and wanted some space from her family so i don’t really see her wanting to live with all of them again. And they couldn’t adopt back then so i really don’t see what’s going on anymore.
I can see them having her getting pregnant by John before his death, which would make her the caretaker for the next heir, her and John's son.

Why is it that Jess Brownell or Shonda Rimes keep putting in homosexual relationships in a story line which has NONE of that in the books. If they are trying to represent themselves or simply trying to be inclusive in this current woke environment, I think that this is going to backfire. Netflix is losing a lot of subscriptions by altering storylines (fiction or non-fiction) and people are getting sick of it.
I think there's a possibility that if the storyline involves Eloise on Scotland, she might start writing letters to her brothers and acquaintances, eventually leading to correspondence with Mr. Phillips. When she returns to the Mascara bool, she could visit Mr. Phillips. This suggests a chance that the next season could focus on Eloise. Meanwhile, while Eloise is sneaking off to see Mr. Phillips, Benelit might meet Sophie Becker. Consequently, Benelit's season could be the fifth season. ❤

In the books Benedict and Sophie are already married when Eloise’s story happens. But they don’t follow the original story anymore so anything can happen.

What is the point of the gender switch? If Francesca is written to be bi, then do an entire stand alone about her- like Daphne's story. And then the other Bridgeton stories can be written with multiple kids. That way book readers can pick an chose what they want to view. Give is choice. I really wanted the show to explore the infertility issue in such a baby oriented family. Just like I hope that Gregory 's book about the dangers that too many kids lead to the high rates of maternal deaths. Both of these stories highlight the health dangers women faced then and now.
