  • The New York State Pavilion is a historic structure at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Flushing, New York. It was designed in 1962 for the 1964 New York World's Fair.
The pavilion consists of three separate structures of reinforced concrete and steel construction: the "Tent of Tomorrow", Observation Towers, and "Theaterama".
The Unisphere is a stainless steel representation of the Earth, also in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park. The globe was designed to celebrate the beginning of the space age, and became a unique symbol of the World's Fair.
The Unisphere sits on a tripod base and is constructed with over 500 steel pieces representing the land masses. It also has three steel rings representing the first artificial satellites orbiting Earth.

With all of the beautiful buildings that were at the world's Fair , they saved one of the clunkist looking pavilions. Why?

It's iconic. And unusual. And it's been in movies.
