      +geezusispan Humor is an indication of intelligence, or to put it another way, intelligent people tend to have a better sense of humor and are funnier than those who are less intelligent...which doesn't speak well of your grim and dour attitude. Don't believe me? Here, this is from Psychology Today:
      www.psychologytoday.com/sites/default/files/attachments/95822/humor-predicts-mating-success.pdf
      Or from Open Colleges:
      www.opencolleges.edu.au/informed/features/intelligence-humour-are-smart-people-funnier/
      And there are plenty of other articles supporting the thesis that humor indicates intelligence.
      The fact that you didn't seem to "get" or "appreciate" the palm dick joke, which was just a funny way of saying that those who are single tend to masturbate more than those who are married (which isn't really true, but that's beside the point) and by virtue of the fact that your dick is in your palm, a palm reader would likely take that to mean that you're single. Not the funniest joke made in the history of the human race, but a chuckler nonetheless.
      Maybe if you were a little smarter and open-minded, you would have been humored. That fart joke, BTW, is pretty funny.
      Here's one I saw in the New Yorker magazine: It was a one frame cartoon. In it, there's an older woman, a bit heavy set, wearing a drab coat and a scarf over her hair, tossing out some bread crumbs to a couple of pigeons who are standing near the bread crumbs. One pigeon is looking at the other pigeon, the other pigeon is looking at the crumbs. The caption reads: "Terrible presentation."
      Why is that funny, you ask? Because people who are "foodies" or who do a fair amount of fine dining, consider the presentation of the food to count almost if not as much as the actual taste of the food. It's a sign of a sophisticated palate, which often if not nearly always is a reflection of a person of sophistication. Pigeons are not considered "sophisticated." The "punch" of joke is the realization that these two pigeons ARE sophisticated, which is completely contrary to how we would normally perceive them to be.
      Laughter, the actual ""hah!" or "hah-hah-hah!" sound that we make is said to be the physicalization of the "shock of recognition," in this case the "shock" of recognizing that these two pigeons are sophisticated enough to consider not just the food itself, but its presentation.
      So wise up, geezusispan. Maybe you'll start to see the humor and absurdity that exists in nearly every dimension in life more so than you do currently.
      Otherwise, my sense is that you'd be a perfect candidate for the job of mortician.

      +geezusispan I'm not sure an eight year old would get the Palm Reader deducing that a man is single because his dick is in his palm joke. A 12 year old, probably.
      Yes humor, like beauty and like all subjective experiences, are in the eye of the beholder. Some of us just happen to have a broader range than others. I can laugh uproariously at The Three Stooges as easily as I could Stephen Colbert when he was playing the willfully ignorant conservative blowhard, which was subtle to the point that a number of people - mainly conservatives - took what he said at face value, i.e., literally. But it's not too surprising that it was conservatives who thought Colbert was an actual conservative. Studies have shown that people who are liberal tend to be smarter and better educated.
      Were you humored by the dry, wry humor of the cartoon I saw in the New Yorker? Probably not. The tone of your writing feels so...tepid. So "meh."

      +4tech69 It's as if you don't know what the labor participation rate is... Or anything deeper about our unemployment problem. Notice from 1980 to 1989, labor participation goes up. As soon as we start spending egregious amounts of money, above tax revenue.... guess what happens! Guess what haaaappppeennnss.... gov't mal-investment kills the private sector. Thus, people drop out of the labor force because they can't find jobs. And it's not as ifffff the baby boomer generation is retiring early.... research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CIVPART

      Well, the studies show that the typical Apple user is more educated and has more buying power than the typical Android/PC user. But you're not really about the facts, are you? You're more interested in obnoxiously trying to affirm your own choice in an operating system by putting forth an argument that isn't even true.
      All you've done is confirm the results of the studies.

      iPhone usage shares are positively correlated with level of education and population density at the state-level. The relationship also held across median income as well, **however the high correlation in median income and education level resulted in redundancy of this particular variable.**
      So is it income or intelligence? I'm willing to bet it's the former.

    Trickle down economics, among other things, was the stupid assumption that those of the wealthy would simply create more jobs for others, so others could rise to the top also, blah, blah, blah..........Point is, they didn't take into account the purely human trait of greed, that they would accumulate wealth, not embark on some business venture that may or may not turn out to be a money making venture..........so, what do you do?, You keep what you have & "screw the rest of em'"...It's just human nature.

    • @AndradeSamir

    • @AndieBlack13
      @AndieBlack13 9 років тому

      Samir Andrade
      Some, some of the wealthy innovate, depends on your personality....Innovation is HIGHLY, expensive & most will not attempt it...for fear of losing money...frankly, that's not how you gain money, get ahead, making more....Once an individual reaches a particular point, they sometimes get tired of "another" Ferrari, & turn outward, eventually wanting to bring others, strangers, into a better life.
      Unfortunately, some individuals won't "settle" for a $200K Ferrari, they keep going, buying more rare, more expensive things, bigger houses, more houses, airplanes, helicopters,..but there is no correlation between acquisitions & happiness ...so, they turn to different endeavours.

    • @AndradeSamir
      @AndradeSamir 9 років тому

      Ricardo Ellison True,most people who make a lot of money have very distinc personalities especially the ones that got there in recent decades,I would say that the "I have enough money so I will dont need to do anything at all" is present mostly on families who have a long history of being rich since when someone becomes a millionaire themselves there was some drive there that does not disapear overnight (unless the person just got lucky with lotery or something)

Then blame them for being 'stupid' and 'lazy' while demanding they work for wages below the poverty line and for longer hours or they are quite happy to sack them and import illegal workers while screaming to the press about 'immigrants' wrecking the country etc

    trickle-down economics has never been right.
    we need to say this. we need to understand it.

      Once upon a time, Bill pointed out that trickle down was like having 3 dogs and one wiener....
      just give the wiener to one of the dogs and think "He'll share with the others."
      I think that's an easy way to understand it!

      +sjoyce100 I don't think it's get married right out of high school, get a job that you will stay at for life, move into a house with a white picket fence and have two kids and a dog. I think it's more life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - whatever that may be.

    I don't believe in psychic bans. As for a difference between the two, it seems like psychics almost always charge money for their services whereas Religion sometimes does and sometimes doesn't. Also a lot of religious organizations donate to charity, I highly doubt psychic organizations donate much.
