Apparently him and his friends used to bully and pick on Justin Trudeau in school. That is absolutely heroic of them. Matthew Perry is a good man and a Canadian patriot for doing that to Justin in his youth.
Read his book Friends, Lover and the Big Thing. I was skeptical, not a huge Friends or Perry fan, and I'm also a recovering drug&alcohol addict myself, so celebs telling their sob stories didn't appeal, but it was recommended by my trusted sister. It's great. Humour, humility, honesty and some really great narrative about his life.

Talking about his alcoholism was his purpose. His foundation helps those that struggle with alcoholism. Its heartbreaking he didn't live to stay in sobriety and help others. Pretty sure being a celebrity/former celebrity with decent looks he has a much better chance of finding somebody than some random person his age. Also, it's always strange when people wish celebrities well - yes, they're also human, but they have access to so many resources/know so many people that ordinary people never will (for better or worse), that I'd have more sympathy for some average person going through that than a celebrity (with the exception being celebrities with serious conditions like MJF and Bruce Willis etc.)

There’s just something so…you just have a feeling of wanting to take care of him, something so vulnerable about him and this was really before I knew he had any addictions, so I’m really sad that Matthew Perry is gone. I worked in a maintenance dept of a large factory for 38 years so i grewup with a lot my coworkers and . These guys where great people but the ones that drank and the ones that did hard drugs were all dead by age of 6o. These guys started dieing off in there 30's. My first girlfriend out of highschool OD on meth in her upper 20's, and her brother died a few years after she did from drugs n alcohol. I'm retired now and I'm so thankful I made it but it's kinda lonely ,so many people just let alcohol n drugs rule thier lives.

It's so weird that we can't help laughing at the dark humor of drunken stupidity. I remember thinking it was funny too, until I married an chronic alcoholic from a family of alcoholic. I didn't recognize the red flags and it ruined my life and the lives of my daughters. I don't laugh quite as much about this now, though I admire those who conquer it...

He was very smart funny sexy and honest about his addiction his book was a real insight into his struggles depression. He has help so many people and will continue to do so with his book if you haven't read it everyone really should.
A friend once, in the same situation, when questioned where he lived while being driven home, told these unknown people from the party he lived by a big lake (in Seattle). He never did figure out how they found his house.
