I remember my parents saing "go" "explore". It was 1974. Nights on that beach in a pup tent. Going out to pull up crab pots and catch a ling cod, then back into the bay for a couple more nights. San juan islands and Zion national park my 2 favorite places on earth.
Glad you made it. I was getting ready to call the coast guard. I love Sucia. Used to live in Blaine and we sailed down there a lot. If we timed it right we could ride the tides and the currents all the way there and back. It was only 20 miles. There seem to be a lot more people now then in the 1990s. Lots of park improvements. I remember one long pier of highly questionable integrity and fairly over grown trails. My girlfriend classified about 50 different kinds of ferns and it had hands down the biggest -Slugs- sorry gastropod mollusc I've ever seen. I mean some of these things were monstrous 10 or 12 inches long. Biology major so she was all over it (wonder what ever happened to her). Any way it's a fascinating place and glad you enjoy it.
This video was so good, enjoyed the China Caves and the walk in the bush with the crows crowing. Thanks guys!! Glad your back, I missed your videos with my Sunday morning coffee.
Awesome Sucia Island episode. I enjoyed climbing on the cliffs and large beach rocks. Took a nasty spill once. How I wasn't injured is a miracle. Upon reflection I reminded myself that help is miles and miles away. So I reduced the thrill seeking for injury prevention. Took the trail down for ex:. Great job freedom. Glad your back.
Wow takes me back to the 80s when I first explored China Caves as a teenager. All of Sucia is so magical. Every anchorage is a totally different experience.
Joke #1. Beautiful scenery - thanks for sharing. Great to see you guys enjoying yourselves. The T-shirts finally made it too Japan, so the family is representing MV Freedom. Stay safe. V/r, Mike
That looks like an awesome place. My knees wouldn't allow though. I hope you two keep taking the boat to new places. There's so much up there between Washington and Alaska.
Amazing adventure, the scenery is fantastic and the china caves were over the top ! You both had a workout and hope when you got back to Freedom, you relaxed and had a nice glass of wine along with a nice dinner.
Nice to see you haven't lost your sense of adventure guys, you reminded me of the 'Goonies' out hunting for treasure. Some pretty great views and without a drone. Fish and ships joke was the best joke. Nice you and the weather is back. Fair winds....etc 😉
I really enjoyed this video because…I have watched many of your videos and heard you talk about boating in the Pacific Northwest/Puget Sound area in glowing terms but never experienced personally. My wife and I just returned from 13 days there, most spent in Bellingham where our youngest moved just before COVID hit, so this was our first visit to your area. Now I understand all your comments and can understand why you say them. It is gorgeous there. We took a whale watching trip and sailed right by Sucia Island, the west side going north and the eastern side going back south, I photographed that same big Sea Lion out on the rocks. The views of Mt. Baker were breathtaking from the sea. We also spent an afternoon at the Ballard Locks and sightseeing around Lakes Union and Washington. I’m now looking forward to your new videos even more since I have a better understanding of what you mean when you talk about the boating there. Thank you very much and keep it up.
Great to have you back! Info, a warm atmosphere and a good dose of charm seems to be a key ingredient in your vlogs. BTW Sucia Island - sucia means dirty in Spanish. Suggests some kinda backstory, I guess...
Yeah I know, nothing ventured nothing gained. That was stressful, really stressful. Next time I’ll just stay aboard Freedom and polish the windows 🙃 Happy birthday Mr Sully 🥳
My girlfriend and I accidentally discovered these caves just a few days ago while hiking the island! I wish I had seen your video first though, we didn’t realize how extensive they are. (We basically stopped after the first set of caves you show in your video.) We’ll have to go back to see the rest some time! Thanks for sharing!
I liked joke number 1. BTW, thanks for sharing your adventures. From watching your video's (and others), I'm looking at purchasing a full displacement hull to enjoy boating in the PNW. Not a live aboard but something good for weekend getaway's out of the Bellingham area.
FISH AND SHIPS MY VOTE. NICE VIDEO YOU WISCONSIN/WASHINGTON SPELUNKERS. WHAT DID YOU DO IN THE RECORD HEAT. DON'T KNOW IF WE KNOW. ADIOS, OVER AND OUT.
Great video Thank you! . My wife wants to know what visor you have. She like visors too but liked yours because it looks like it provides a bigger rim.

Just curious if the 96 ft Nordhavn is a local MV. Maybe get a boat tour of it if they're willing. Nice looking ship, and is that another class for Shawn to captain if you bought it.
Having visited many caves all over the US, I m afraid that I would have to give the China Caves a "3". It is a nice rock climbing formation, but that is about it. Nice island to visit though
Very disappointing! To hear anyone say that a colors ceremony is a GOOFY TRATITION and to have held that feeling for years is SAD. (Paying respect to our flag at sunrise and sunset is not goofy. There is actually a meaning behind it all and you might want to educate yourselves on it.) But isn't that also what its all about? Our fallen veterans have given their lives so people, like you, have the freedom to speak freely. I am glad you've changed your perspective, but...

Japan???
I have forgotten how beautiful the Pacific Northwest is. I grew up there when I was a kid and went to college in Walla Walla. I should head back.

Whoohoo! Another episode. Spelunking and Mr. Sully's birthday, too.
Happy Birthday Mr Sully - and may you have many, many more!

I liked the one joke that was about the “blubber gum”. You’re living my dream that I have had for years. Lucky guys….
Very cool! Thank you.

Liked fish and ships joke.
That 96 Nordhaven looks top heavy. Despite such a great reputation I wonder.

Ranger Tugs are a great option if you’re only planning to cruise the Puget Sound/BC waters 👍
Excellent! (as usual)
I like my boat and maybe (3) people… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Whoa, those were super cool!! I wouldn't have been able to have the courage to climb them!!
I love his shirt, I love my boat.... lol
your shirt says i like my boat and maybe 3 other people......one must be MIKE! Mike! Mike......Happy Hump Day!!!
Haha love that commercial 🐪
Great seeing you guy's on the dock at Roche during the 4th :-)
👋 👋👋 yes what a fun time the 4th is at Roche!
We hiked to Ewing Cove that day, too, and saw Freedom out at anchor. Nice hike! Also see us in the background in Echo Bay lol
Hey Folks,
Hope you both are fine and doing well. Was worried as didn’t see any videos of you guys over 3 weeks.
Stay safe n healthy.

I could hear my Mother...get down from there you'll break your neck! Always the neck, never a leg or an arm, nope just the neck. 🤔
What happened to you guys?
You’re not posting videos anymore.

Yes it is!
what lies twitching at the bottom of the ocean? a nervous wreck.
😂😂😂
Nice!
Awesome..
Very Cool!
Happy B-Day Mr. Sulley!
Strong LADY you R !!! 🎩 off to you!
I like the videos and I’ll like all your jokes
Having visited many caves all over the US, I m afraid that I would have to give the China Caves a "3". It is a nice rock climbing formation, but that is about it. Nice island to visit though
China Caves looked like an awesome workout--how sore were you the next day?
BTW, #1 was the best--or least bad...😛
Not too bad surprisingly!
@@mvfreedom Good! Shows you have really good fitness regimens!
very nice well done
Great video … do you ever have dolphins follow you … if so can you show them
Not a ton but when we do there’s only 1 or 2 and they play hard to get. Can’t get even a picture of them for the life of us 😏
@@mvfreedom ok thanks

Lovely vid :-) ( there is a 96ft for sale (Lacey Kay) only $11.2m....couple more vids and you can have it lol)
Wow a definite place we now want to go on our Nordhavn40! Once the borders open up this is a new goal for us now! ⚓️⚓️🐟🐟🐟⚓️⚓️. Skookum1
Yes! You’ll love it, and hopefully we’ll be passing you guys as we book it to our favorite BC spots 😉
How do you circumcise a Whale..................... Send down 4 skin divers ......lol
I pick number 4.
Wearing shorts makes it tough. Knees and bare rock don't mix.
@1:19. Any idea on the make & model of that yacht?
By the way, what’s the water temperature at this time of year. The water at the China caves looked nice.
It’s 56-58 F right now!
@@mvfreedom How far down? Surface, 3, 6, 9, how many atmospheres down was your temp reference?
I'm not finding any MV Freedom ?
Curious where you had your custom doormat made....
Where have you been? Missed you. Oh, joke No.1 and don't give up the day job Shaun.
Those day jobs are where we’ve been 😉
If it's like the goonies.....show us you're "TRUFFLE SHUFFLE"
Haha maybe in a future video Shawn can do his Goonies impersonation...it’s pretty amazing!
Fish and ships
Did you sell the kiacks I see you’ve got a paddle
Yes we sold them right before this trip, moving to paddle boards since I can actually lift them 👍
Sully the elder statesmen, Happy Birthday!
Fish and Ships is best joke. -- BAK --
What do Whales eat? Fish & Ships!
#1
4 fish & ships
Glad to have you back, but please no more Shawn jokes.
I've got more, lol
Wow, please do tell us about how many coronavirus variants you find in those china caves...
