    Oh my goodness!!! I feel like you have been watching my life lately. I got a new washer and dryer for Christmas because we also had a washer fail. (I am 5'1/2" and understand your height concerns.) We also knew we were going to replace the flooring (coming soon!) but when we started looking under the flooring we found more flooring, old water damage behind nasty paneling, ... We are going scorched earth with new drywall, fixtures, and making it a wet room to prevent future problems. Such is the life of home owners; there's always something more to do. :)
    Love your pets and the way family pitches in too! May your remodel turn out to be better than dreamed!!

    Not sure if you’ve heard this advice before, but for the caulking, if you take a small cup of water and put a few drops of Dawn dishwashing liquid in it and then dip your finger in it before you try to smooth out the caulking then t won’t stick to your finger. It works really well.

    oh my gosh when the first problems were appearing my jaw was dropping. I could feel Toni's pain when the washer just decided to die. i hope you were able to salvage the laundry . This was giving me flashbacks of when we had laundry room trouble. One time we had to call in someone to fix the belt thing in the dryer, then after he left the washer decided to have a moment. so we had to call him back. So laundry was delayed another day . The drywall pink paste stuff makes me look forward to spring and summer because there's an icecream place that sells seasonal flavors and one is this raspberry chocolate chip and the color of the paste reminded me of it.

    You're doing a great job! I noticed at the end you said you are not use to them being so nice and that you always had Shi**y ones. I don't mean to be a Debbie downer but, the older ones actually are better because they are not made to break down and when they do they have had decades of use before they fail. The current problem is replacement parts now come from china and are made to break after a few months. So unless you are dealing with Speed Queen very few machines are made to last. I have gotten to the point I don't care what they look like as long and they are work horses.

    • @diytiff
      @diytiff  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! And yeah I meant sh**y looking ones 😂 but it’s true they don’t build them like they used. I actually bought extra warranty on these just I case the break too quickly, I hope not tho 😭

    Thank you for the video. It was good fun. I just wanted to point out--and I am sure you already know this--that having a dead bolt and regular lock on a door with windows, well, they serve no purpose. All an intruder needs to do is break that one little window next to the locks, and there you go! That door is NOT safe! Please consider making it safer somehow. I honestly am not sure how to do it without replacing the door!

    • @lindas.8036

    • @diytiff
      @diytiff  8 місяців тому

      I never thought of that, even though I’ve seen it many times in movies lol. It makes sense but it’s very common here to have windows everywhere including the doors. There’s alarm systems that will trigger if someone were to break the glass so since I already have the door that’s probably my best option at the moment.

    There is a concrete weight in the washer that you can remove, to make it easier to move. It always amazes me how worried Americans are about mould, in the UK we live with it, our climate is so damp and many of our homes are ancient, we incorporate it into our decor 🤣😂🤣

    • @diytiff
      @diytiff  8 місяців тому +2

      I didn’t know that about the washer lol thanks. Omg that’s crazy about the mould 😂 yeah here in the US visible mold can be a big deal since it may cause health issues, I just rather be safe than sorry

    • @afrarunduml1170
      @afrarunduml1170 8 місяців тому +2

      If a brick and paper house, like in the US, is damp it will rott away. Bricks don't deteriorate in this way. In Germany the most houses are brick and concrete. But we are not okay with mold. We do a lot to prevent. Modern houses don't get mold. Older houses are more likely to get moldy. But we do some effort to prevent it.

    • @diytiff
      @diytiff  8 місяців тому +1
