You have not lived until your stealth/energy weapon/luck build has unlocked the Meltdown perk with the Pew Pew laser pistol and killed a mother deathclaw just by hitting one of her babies and causing a chain reaction so large that the game drops to 10fps. Deathclaw Promitory turns into a joke when half of the targets are so close together, and don't get me started on legion or NCR hit squads. See them coming and shoot once to get a massive payday.

if you use the Goodsprings general store exploit to grind 9mm ammo and leather armor, you can level up very quickly, I'd suggest grinding up to level 16 to also get the jury rigging perk, and once you've gotten 90 points in energy weapons, put your ammo and armor in the dumpster by the general store, make your way to Novac, open the Mojave Express box, and fast travel back to goodsprings and move the armor and ammo to the goodsprings ME mailbox. Then fast travel back to novac and barter with Cliff Brisco in the Dino D-lite gift shop. You should have enough armor and ammo to buy EVERYTHING from him, with armor and ammo to spare. You now have incredible repair ability to fix almost any weapon for caps or usage, you can fix ED-E with just repair skill, you can bypass most of vault 22 and get the HEPPA air filters for the BOS, and probably most usefully, during your grinding, you should have plenty of points to dump into sneak. If you do this, you can EASILY one-hit critical most enemies without helmets.
Of importance to this build, if you want to get NCR or Legion armor, you can place sticks of dynamite at their feet, move to a hidden position, and shoot the dynamite to kill them without incurring a bad faction reputation (Unnamed NPCs only).
I know that my playstyle isn't very immersive, since it requires game-breaking bugs to pull off, but my idea of fun is a romp through the wasteland where even the toughest enemies might have second thoughts about attacking me.
Completing the power armor training for the BOS is also a way to make your game play stupidly easy, since most metal armor can be used to repair power armor.

I did a playthrough with a Brotherhood Initiate mod that lets you start with BoS scout armor and a laser rifle, and I was wondering why the game was so easy all of a sudden.

Energy weapon are busted in NV. Basic laser rifle heavily outclasses most "top tier" guns that have multiple times the requirements

@@tomaszpawlik5091 oh yeah, stuff like the brush gun is awesome, but the ammo sucks to find make or buy meanwhile 5.56 and .223 are a little easier.
Though nothing beats infinite recycling energy ammo

@@braydenchadwick9836 my main issues with all revolvers(that gun counts i guess) is their low mag size. It has 5 bullets, at best you will kill 5 enemies, more realistically around 3 before loading - a Simple.22lr has 16 and their damage isn't even that far off(hollow point ammo and crit perks is a wonder on a weapon that crits 100% of the time) allowing you to kill like 7 enemies.... And its silenced too!

I'm an energy weapons girl all the way. My favorites? The holorifle and Tesla cannons. I'll pop enemies with those, then close in and rip them to shreds with the Fist of Rawr. Even better with the Meltdown and Bloody Mess perks. It's a go-to for a "tribal genius" build that I've played for years.

@@Dark_Courier I've ran with that build for a long time now. Originally, my weapons of choice were the holorifle, Compliance Regulator, and Fist of Rawr. My initial tagged skills were science, melee, and unarmed for the perks. Once I could take the Tag! perk, I added energy weapons to the list.

Here’s some advice for how to break the bank in the casinos: step one, win blackjack enough times to almost get kicked out. Then bet on one of the green zeroes on the roulette wheel. Max bet. 200x35 is 7000. Then get the jury rigging perk and then you can have the guns you want maxxed out on CND and profit off repairing combat armor helmets with fiend battle helmets.

The reason energy weapons are so good in New Vegas is because they are technologically superior to gunpowder. The level of technology in your weapon directly correlates to its power. Pew Pew, Q-35 Matter Modulator, YCS/186, AER14 Prototype. All top tier weapons, all of them use advanced technology, all of them objectively superior to their gunpowder counterparts.

I never take any damage when using either , i never use vats or use armor ( thats for bots)
Tri beam is 2nd then rcw
Then cw minigun
Then plasma defender
I have every perk to increase every weapon in the game …and after testing vs group of enemies in open this are the best of the best…explosive weapons die most the time …even esther …enemies push and cant use effectively
Best 556 guns 1000% is light machinegun
All american is biggest hype and other weapons can do wat all american can do but better

Honestly the multiplas is a horrible energy weapon. Sure its powerful but its spread is abysmal. In terms of DPS the tri beam laser rifle is stronger than the multiplas. Add in the laser commander perk that increases damage and critical chance by 10%
