For someone like me fascinated by abstract movies and in the process of creating my own, the "Experimental Films of the 1940s" is the greatly informative and educational. Thanks.
Im a little late to this party, but DAYMN, that was a really great synop of an era I thought i knew about. Really excited to find your channel tonight. Thanks for the insightful info and gingerly interjected perspective!
Thank you for introducing me to Maya Deren. I once made a video where i depicted a mirror-faced black figure before just to see that this Lady did the same 80 years ago. And i thought wow, what specific thing did go wrong in both of our lives that we produced that haha. Love your content! Congrats on that 10K by the way ;) Keep going!!
the frame you used for the thumbnail was used as the cover art for Primal Scream's second single, Crystal Crescent/Velocity Girl. just some useless trivia from my favourite band lmao
The first several minutes of Rouben Mamoulian's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1931) are also shot with a subjective camera like "Lady in the Lake." But, as the video acknowledges, special attention should be given to "Lady" for extending this uncommon approach for the entire film.
Early MTV was very open to experimental videos, any videos really. The British new wave artists were influenced by German Expressionism (1920s) in film.
Great work! Its very usefull. I put you in my sources of an school essay Im wrighting. I was wondering on who's name to put it and what sources you used yourself?
My name is Evan Chester. This video is kinda old so I can't remember what sources I used off the top of my head, but I can try to look into it. I know the work of David Bordwell has always been a great resource, especially his Film History textbook.
@@kubricklynch Great! Thank you for your quick response. I think I know enough for the requirements of my sources. So you don't have into look into it. Thanks again!

Thank you! I also have similar videos on the 50s and 60s!

Thank you and I'm very glad to have introduced you to her!
Dude, your audio quality has improved massively since I first started watching. Good stuff
Glad you noticed, thanks for the kind words!!
Any time mate. Your quality, quite literally, speaks for itself
Great video again. I am especially stunned by Maya Darren!! Her mere existence is like a miracle.
Thanks!
Great video and interesting recommendations! Good stuff, keep it up.
Thanks!
Awesome video, it nice to see people interested in avant garde film.
Thanks!
Great video! If you haven't seen it, check out Dark Passage (1947), to which Lady In The Lake was a forbearer.
Thanks! I have not seen that, I will make sure to check it out.

Cool! Thanks for sharing this!
Feels a bit like a music video. Reminded me of Madonna, and a bit of White Stripes "Hardest Button to Button"
Thanks for the insight.
Good video man
Thanks!
1:15 Could be a scene from a New Wave music video from the 80s. Quite modern.
