- The 2019 Liberty Trike Electric Tricycle is a value priced mobility style electric delta trike with a lot of practicality, while remaining simple and keeping thoughtful considerations. Made to fit through narrow doorways and aisles, able to remove the handlebar and fold the bike for transport, can fit in some trunks and is approved by the FAA to travel by plane. Has a natural feeling coasting brake as well as front brake, 500 watt front hub motor, and a standard cargo basket in the back. No pedal assist (throttle only), no motor inhibitor on the rear brake, other than at a standstill, you have to shift your weight during tight turns.

Mikey - how could you possibly forget to demonstrate how this trike comes apart? One of its biggest features is that it is more or less a "folding trike." It doesn't actually fold, but it does come apart in two pieces for easier transportation. I am sure your viewers would want to see that in action. This is a pretty significant oversight in my estimation.

I love my Addmotor M340, I got it one year ago, now Grandtan 2023 is my next plan，it has the most beautiful head tube Ive seen.
I got this my wife. Waaaayy lighter than RAD or Lectric trikes. 50 lbs, AND splits into 2 light halves.
This, plus my Lectric XP Lite , are Easy to load in the RV or SUV, and if we go.
just assembled 2023 model. unboxing and setup is very easy. I am comparing it to a 24 inch trike I purchased last year. Essentially there is no "assembly" other than combining the halves, and inserting the seat and handlebars. My wife, the rider, says the size makes here feel very safe, in comparison to the taller trike. The handlebar quick release is a good add because it will easily load into my pickup, which has a cap. Height was the main restriction. Kudos for providing the owners manual upon request..it is very complete, and would be an ink-sucker if I printed it as a pdf file.
The power setup is very appealing to my wife because the power settings allow a gradual application of power. The larger trike has a more binary nature, where you go from OFF to POWER , and even at low setting, it seemed abrupt and scary to her.
All in all the Liberty bridges the gap between a mobility scooter, and a full fledged electric trike.
Wish there was a variety of pedaling strengths to exercise the legs more thoroughly for those who need more muscle stimulation. Progressively recuperating from incapacity. It would make it a more well rounded machine for therapy. When legs go dead motor gets used & to make sure i can get back/take breaks.
very nice for flat city errand's with the rear basket. I spy a even nicer fat tire model in the back on the video. I sure would like too some mid drive motor trikes ones with the top of line Bosch CX style maybe if there even is such trikes.

The outer tube on the final drive holding the bearing on the other side of the coupling should have been a little longer to shorten the protruding drive shaft. As it is that protruding half shaft would be subjected to a lot of bending stresses from the drive chain. One would expect an unsymmetric of the length of the two tubes holding the half shafts.
I wish the bike part had a 3 or 7 speed shifter so you could pedal it easier when you don't have the motor engaged.
The flaw with tall fit men demonstrating a trike like this is they are FORGETTING the thousands of short women who are 5 ft tall. The Long Crank shaft is a mistake. Anyone who is short has to have the seat down lower which means their knees are forced to bend further -- ad knee mobility is a big factor i why they would want a trike i the first place. When marketing a product for people who are less ale use appropriate people to demo.

GREAT LITTLE TRIKE, I PUT MY THROTTLE AND HAND BRAKE ON SAME SIDE NO WAY TO USE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, PLUS I PUT A BETTER SEAT, CHANGED HANDLE BARS AND THE BASKET, WORKS FOR ME

Is there a battery designed for this trike that has a greater distance ability? Purchased a Lectric Bike back in May which gets up to 45 miles on a charge, but I'm finding I should have gone with a trike because of balancing issues. Would also like to have the pedal assist. Would purchase this trike in a heartbeat if it had a bigger battery for better distance with the pedal assist.
Buy a second battery and store it in the basket. Its easy to swap when the other runs out. Better yet, buy a third and get three times the range...

It sounds really noisy but it's probably just a camera microphone. I have one leg and I bought the ecotric hammer and I love it. A little hard getting someone to help me with issues from ecotric. I had to put lights and stuff and a back rack okay so I thought it was only 1400 dollars actually less
I would love to find a trik with either a mid-drive motor or PAS rear drive to help save on battery life

Aren’t direct drive motors like this more battery efficient than mid drives? It has way simpler design with a lot less moving friction points for energy loss. Plus this should have a longer life and it won’t put all that wear on the drivetrain.
Hello. I have a sun tri ez trike. I want to convert to ebike. I weigh 250lbs. Can you please recommend a front hub motor size that wont struggle for my size?

I got 36 volt 350 amp front wheel motor horizon battery from clean republic for my sun trike & have had it 4 years. I use this trike as a car replacement. I am very satisfied. I also built a trailer to pull. All this works really nice.
VERY GLAD I woke up before I bought this. I checked with my local fire department and showed them what it says in the Manual regarding the battery. IT IS NOT UL Certified. Fire department said do not buy!!! Then the next day I was at my local bike store with whom I have a great relationship and they showed an email from someone who bought the Liberty Trike and he called it a POS. (last word there is a 4 letter word).
The extra rear sprocket design is useless because the left rear tire has no drive nor brake connection but it was probably done to make up for not having differential gears and if it were positive traction it would be dangerous on turns
can you get a bigger battery for this? as it is 26 miles one way to town to shop,, be blessed and safe
Unfortunately not for this e trike. There are other models available that might go further, but a total of 52 miles maybe too far. However, even with this trike you can pedal as far as you wish, although I wouldn't recommend doing so... This e trike is designed for shorter distances, around the neighborhood or town, not so much for a large city...
I notice they offer an extra battery for $300 you could take with you.
Can the handle bars be moved forward for someone with short arms? Only 5’ and I’d never be able to comfortably reach those handle bars
The handlebar is adjustable in height and towards the rider... Like most bicycles...

Cool bike however I’d prefer to have the bigger battery for longer range. I’d more likely ride this bike 26 miles than carry the battery into a plane.
The folks who make Liberty trikes manufacture other larger wheeled and off road trikes and bikes as well with more power and more range. At a higher retail price though.

Unfortunately they sell these at their website only. No dealers. With the throttle set a 0 you are peddling only. The throttle does not engage until it is on the 1 setting out of 5 settings. Notice he was peddling 6 mph before he engaged the throttle in this video. To engage the throttle he pressed the I button for a few seconds until the display turned on. The throttle has 5 settings, a bit more than 2 mph per setting.
No mention of performance on hills....a rather important criterion, even in areas that are not "off-road".

I wouldn't consider the Liberty trike as a mountain trike... Its more a mobility trike than a mountain trike...
He just said pedal assist. I thought Liberty did not have pedal assist?
You can pedal and use the throttle set at one or two and get assisted power.. I am unable to pedal without slowing the trike down with the throttle set at three, four, or five...

You need to learn the difference between wheelbase and wheel track. The distance between the rear wheels is the track, not the wheelbase.
I have a Sun Classic trike I am older and would like a little help getting up hills. Is there a kit to put on the little front wheel that I can get to help me. I am 76 and still want to ride.

Old folks and those with mobility issues are more than happy warping around their neighborhood at a warp speed of 11 mph, including my dog... My Liberty trike goes through every door it desires to go through, unlike almost all of the other e-trikes available...

A good bike shop will be able to work on the mechanical part of the trike and Liberty Trike is very helpful in diagnosing the electrical issues that may come up and then shipping parts. Batteries are offered here www.libertytrike.com/collections/parts $436.
Your local bike repair shop will be able to fix any issues and keep your Liberty e trike running. There are also UA-cam videos available for DIY maintenance jobs. Parts can be bought on line from their website, including even the battery...

Maximum Weight: Max weight: 400lbs
Hill Climbing: How well the Liberty Trike does on the hill greatly depends on the hill grade, your weight, input and momentum. The Max Torque of the Liberty Trike is 60N-m.
If the Liberty Trike is presented with an immovable situation the motor system will cut power to the motor temporarily to prevent damage to the system. Releasing the throttle for a second will allow the system to re-engage and the system will be ready again.
The Liberty Trike is very powerful but steep hills and inclines will require riders (especially riders over 225lbs) to assist the motor with pedal power. The Liberty Trike is not a solution for climbing steep hills without any effort by the rider.

No. But you can buy other e trikes that are larger. Even the folks who build the Liberty manufacture other larger models, although at a higher retail price. But the larger wheels of the larger e trikes also have wider rear axles that most likely do NOT go through most doors...
Tire fenders wud be very useful
There is a fender which works well for the front wheel, but you really don't go that fast, at best 12 mph for the back wheels to slash water onto the rider...
How does it fold?
Watch a UA-cam folding Liberty trike video. You fold the front wheel and tuck it inside a rear wheel. No need to pull the pin to split the trike into two different pieces.

I have a mototech trike. Trust me. You will fit on this one perfectly. I am now addicted to 3 wheel electric bikes and I am considering buying this one because it has pedels. My other 2 trikes do not have pedals so when I push the distance to the maximum of running out of charge I have had to push them home. This will be perfect for you

@@supernovahk19 You can reduce your setting from 5 going up the hill to 1 or 0 going down the hill... Use brakes when necessary...

The rear axle is a little complicated but it sounds like they have designed a clever system.
Con: they don’t list detailed speciations. Such as tire size, width; warranty; return ability; methods of payments accepted; frame material.
It doesn’t seem to have pedal-assist.. An optional post suspension of some sort would be nice.
The dynamics of a trike are different from a bike so I would like to see it run through a slalom course. I hear you need to reverse lean.

People buy trikes for their stability yet they are tricky cornering at speed, perhaps more so with narrow wheel spacing.
Unfortunately trikes don't lean like bikes... The solution is just to slow down making tight turns... I have no problems with the throttle set on one or two making tight turns...

Did you expect a e-trike geared for those with mobility issues to run on a freeway? In the state of Texas and many other states e-bikes/trikes have to go less than 20 mph or face insurance, registration, and driver's license requirements and fees... If you want a Harley, buy one...

At a top speed of 12 mph with the throttle there isn't much of a duck tail splashing onto the driver... I have never rode the trike in the rain, but I have after a rain... I usually pedal doing my best to reach 4 mph...

That is the best feature of this bike,.... don't know why they didn't show that in the video. It not only folds, it comes apart so you only have to lift half as much to load it.

If you are pedaling the motor can assist if you are throttling at level one or two, and get you up a hill at a higher setting. I am unable to pedal fast enough to use the throttle set at three without slowing the trike down on flat ground... This trike is a pedal or throttle trike though...

The front wheel does. I recommend not riding on this trike in the rain. And at a top speed of 12 mph there isn't much of a duck tail coming from the rear tires that would splash onto the driver... The front fender works well with puddles after a rain, but I have never rode the trike in the rain...
