Great videos chaps. I'm a Liverpool supporter, and i'm from Liverpool. The fella who ran our local boys club was from Bournemouth and he was lovely fella, and had to put up with a lot of unruly teenagers. He supported Bournemouth and I think they were in non-league then, (in the 80's) so it's an amazing journey your club have been on.

The problem is people turn up expecting an atmosphere like we have in Europe against Barcelona and it’s not going to happen against smaller clubs no offence and the club want the tourists and not the locals ,it’s all to do with money

These little team games are the matches people bring their kids too for their first match. European nights are for the loyal real fans. Unless you’re a UEFA muppet in the kenny dalgish stand. I sit in the main stand (s99 r71 U4) and I can agree our atmosphere is only decent at times like if we’re pushing for a winner after an equaliser against a smaller team. But the unique atmosphere is for big games or European nights.

Love this! What a great series. I’m a lifelong Liverpool fan who used to go to all of the matches before moving to Canada in the early 90’s. Videos like this are fantastic and keep me in touch with the match day experience which I sorely miss. I’ll be following all of your videos with great interest. I was following Bournemouth last year when Nat Phillips was there but I’m even more interested now. I’m not a supporter but was thrilled when you came back to beat Forest and it’s all down to your channel! Good luck for the rest of the season and keep the great videos coming.
    Cheers,
    Mark

I couldn’t say a bad word about the staff at Anfield stadium they were all so polite and friendly..well impressed with their hospitality.. loved the stadium definitely wanted to come and see it with my 11 year old son.. didn’t feel as much atmosphere as i do at Dean court where we have great connection in between our stands.. brilliant atmosphere..very difficult match to watch!! Chatted with a few Liverpool fans particularly one older man who was really caring and said I hope Bournemouth stay up that’s what you want!! X so I liked the people def! X 👍🍒

I love the fact the Liverpool fans were quiet. It shows honest emotions, off course they expected to beat us so why should they get super excited with over the top celebrations. I would like to think one day when the boot is on the other foot we will react the same. If only.
Great work with the video give yourselves a noyn

Hello lads, Lfc season ticket holder here - not sure how it seems from the away end, but at this particular game in the Kop where my seat is we never stopped singing all game so I’m quite confused.
I’m 30 now and since my teenager days the atmosphere has dropped massively, largely due to tourists but it’s never as bad as I think you’re making it out to be. Just be aware that it is mainly just the kop that don’t sit down all game. That’s the unwritten law of the kop.
Other than this, great video, glad you found us lot hospitable and hope you’ll come back if you stay up 👍

Great stuff. As I mentioned on your match vlog, this is one of the best footballing vlogs out there. The two presenters here are excellent.
Regarding atmosphere and songs, I was at the match and we did sing most of our songs inc several different player songs - even Jota's song and he wasn't even on the bench. But there is some kind of acoustics issue and always has been at Anfield. I'm in the Main and from there you can hear most of the stuff inc the away fans. But in some parts of the ground it can seem like there's no noise coming from the home fans at all. I'm not really sure what the solution is to this acoustics issue.
Separate from that there is, sadly, also an issue of too many in the crowd just not bothering to sing. I don't get involved in 'wool' and 'tourist' arguments. As far as I'm concerned every LFC fan is welcome at Anfield if they can get a ticket. But I wish some of them would get more involved. Don't just sit there like a lemon, staring. Start singing, clapping, cheering. You might think your little contributon won't mean much, but it all adds up to the great upswell of sound that we know can be produced in the ground.
Anyway great stuff, I'll keep watching. This channel deserves more views and likes than some of the really popular ones out there, which aren't half as good.

  • @Throgmoyd

Couple of comments on your very fair review:
    1) The Arkles is historically the 'away fans pub' sprinkled with LFC fans. You'll probably want to go there to congregate with your own mates - but you'd be welcomed in any pub around the ground with no bother. Probably some banter but all friendly.
    2) You missed a trick food-wise. Next time walk down to the kop end and diagonally across from the Kemlyn/Kop corner is 'Homebaked' which sells incredible pies.
    3) Re 'atmosphere' - it's always a bugbear with me. Guess what. You sounded raucous on your video. At the match we could not hear you AT ALL. This is the problem with the acoustics and/or where the singing fans are predominantly located (since the kop ceased to be a terrace). We thought we were vocal on the day but you could not hear us. As it happens the same applies in reverse. So your score still applies (due to the acoustics etc) but should not be a reflection of we fans efforts.
P.S. Subscribed. You seem a decent gang of lads and certainly produce quality entertaining content, so I shall follow your team's fortunes via this platform with interest! :-)

I was there and there was actually a lot of LFC fans singing… went through most of the songs… of course it’s not the same as on a European night (intimidating) and some early kick offs especially can be poor… but I do wonder if there is something to the stadium design idea as it was blasting against Newcastle and they felt we had not sung… it is odd.
Maybe the expectation is a European night and anything less falls short… who knows…
The away fans are in an overhang… echoing their own sound around them… it might change when the top layer gets peeled back and the extension comes online.
I chatted to a couple of your lads before the game, they did not expect much from the game result wise, but were up for the weekend… I said we were not playing well so you never know… and then my last words were “…ta rra lads enjoy the game”… um oops! 😂
Anyway… enjoying your channel, liked and sub’d, good luck, hope you stay up…

Just a point I found interesting was we get a lot of stick about the emptihad and atmosphere, but I noticed empty seats near your fans and you say the atmosphere was poor. City is full to the rafters and the atmosphere is really good. To be honest though I was surprised that you thought it was quite an Anfield. Great to follow you again on your quest👍CTID

Full disclosure - City fan who subscribed after your City evaluation.
Glad you had a “Decent Day” at Anfield, but as others have said, it’s very different when City go there…as the City Coach Driver!!
Sorry you didn’t find a decent boozer by the Etihad, as I feel like it coloured your vision in not being able to have a few pre-match drinks right outside. The big issue is that the area around the stadium is SportsCity, being heavily redeveloped, and many of the old boozers were shutdown for the trams & development. That said, town is only a few minutes walk away, with literally dozens of places to have a nice drink, and THOUSANDS of people walk in from there.
Anyway, feel like there was some soft spot stuff thrown in there for Anfield, because there’s literally no way the matchday experience around Anfield is anywhere close to the quality of the concourses, the stadium (“I like old stadiums with different stands” and “the gradient meant you had to stand on your tip toes at times”?!) or the ease of getting to and from the stadium at the Etihad.
Yes, it can be a bit schmaltzy outside sometimes, but you came for the first game of the season in the glorious sunshine! Come in November and none of that nonsense will be there and you can stand and have a beer, a pie & chips, and listen to a few of the golden oldies of City’s recent past on the stage talking about the game…rather than kids playing table tennis (ffs?!). Never seen that crap before and I’ve been going since the late 60s!
Gutted you lads plucked your heartstrings and put them above us, but I hope you have a better experience next time! Google “pubs near me” and you’ll be golden!
Keep up the good work, lads, and good luck this season! Too bad Scott Parker tried, and succeeded, in talking himself out of a job. Going to be hard to get a top man in with no cash to spend and a team that seems slated for the drop by the end of August.
    Fingers crossed for ya!

Watched you away day video and this is a great accompaniment to it. It is interesting about the atmosphere, definite singing in the Kop (especially at the back) during the game - I was there. Obviously not as raucous as a European night but a solid five out of ten. Thing is, as well, when you are around others singing it's hard to hear the opposition fans.
Surprised you rate the view so highly - if you would've been stood a few rows back I suspect your rating would have been a lot lower! I think row 30 and above are awful specs when everyone is stood up.

To be honest it really depends on where you sit, we were sat near the kop and we couldn't hear YOUR fans, the only time we did was when there was that issue with the lad who took off his shirt, a few of us said it was the first time we heard you and we found it refreshing not to hear the sign on crap all game! After that we heard you more. It was loud near the Kop and the Jurgen Klopp song was sung very loudly as was Scouser Tommy and the Bobby Firmino song, in fact the first 20 mins was loud at our end. Having just re-watched some of it you can hear our fans pretty well. Surprised you didn't hear the Bobby song as it sounded loud on the TV. When I sit near the away fans I often struggle to hear ours and equally when you sit near the Kop you can't always hear the away ones. Am not being tit for tat as there have been really quiet atmospheres especially the 12:30 games but it was actually good until we got stunned into silence by the amount of goals going in (sorry guys!). The other factor I think is the tourists are allocated seats in KG and L1 which are the nearest to the away fans in the main and Kenny Dalglish stands so you get to see/hear them or not hear😉 them more than any others. Thanks for the other ratings though, I do think our stewards are far more friendly than any I've met at away games, the Manchester clubs and Newcastle ones are vile. Not been to Bournemouth but Klopp has said a few times it's the nicest place he's visited in England so maybe we can come and visit. Hope you stay up and we see you back next season, always welcome here lads regardless of good or bad reviews👍

Ive been a season ticket holder at Anfield since the early 70s. The atmos changes from game to game. Some games the crowd are up for it, sometimes not. Obviously, there's more atmos when there's 'rivalry' between the clubs. Bournemouth fans are to be congratulated for not indulging in singing 'Sign on,' 'It's never your fault' and other disgraceful chants by the likes of united, city, chelsea, everton etc.
I now sit in the SKD Upper and I thought there was good banter between the two sets of fans. I still dont know why the stewards kicked out the bare chested LFC fan in the Main Stand for engaging with the bournemouth fans!
The Annie Road stand is being redeveloped and will give a better view from the back of the lower tier. Unfortunately, away fans at present always stand in the seating area so those at the back have a severely restricted view. The home support who sit in the same stand dont have that problem because they sit in the seats.

To be fair, and I'm not trying to be rude, but Liverpool were playing a newly promoted side and, as the 9-0 scoreline reflects, a pretty poor team, so the demand for tickets in the middle of a cost of living crisis in a working class city like Liverpool for a match against Bournemouth isn't going to be great. Any available tickets for these types of games are always doled out to travel agencies and sold as day trips for tourists from all over the world, so the atmosphere is never going to be up to much and it is a bit ridiculous and quite naive to expect it to be any other way. I was there for the game because I have a season ticket, but three of the group that I usually go with had lent their season tickets to three of the other lads in our group, who have all been going together since the 70s and 80s, so that they could take one of their kids to a Liverpool game instead. That's what playing against Bournemouth meant to them; they would rather give a young fan the rare chance to go to a Liverpool game instead. I thought the complete non-contest of a game was boring and more like a testimonial game, and I don't do friendlies or testimonial games. I never heard the Bournemouth fans singing once apart from the ironic 'ole' shouts just before half time when you had your (brief) spell of possession, which I did appreciate for what it was, it was funny and quite original. It was noticeable that the home crowd only woke up from its doze in the sunshine when a new Premiership scoring record was there to be set with just one more goal but alas it was not to be and we had to settle for just scoring nine.

Good assessment lads! I sort of agree about the atmosphere, I’ve sat in every stand at Anfield and it’s very quiet in the main stand, Kenny Dalglish, and Anfield Road end, so I can understand why away fans think they out sing Liverpool fans but I’ve never heard the Kop get out sung, check out Maych TV’s vlog of the game, you’ll get an idea of what it’s like from the Kop end, I rarely hear the away fans sitting in the Kop unless they score👍 but like I say, I do wish the atmosphere was better, a lot of tourists and families kind of kills it tbh

I was in the kop for this game. Completely disagree with the atmosphere point. This was decent for a Saturday 3pm - particularly where I was. It’s funny how the acoustics work in the ground because I didn’t hear anything from the away end apart from when you jeered something going on in the corner. Firmino had his song sung loudly, as did VVD and Klopp too.

  • @harbottle8580
    @harbottle8580 2 роки тому

Where the away support now is, is where home fans would stand in the 70's - 80's terrace days. Away fans where on the opposite corner by the Arkles pub. I used to prefer the 'Anny Road End'. We'd chant just as much as the Kop. Just as much as you did. Yet we could hardly hear the Kop then. Even though it was in full voice. I suspect most people go along expecting an atmosphere experience based on the big European nights. I include away fans with that as well, not just our own day trippers. Liverpool as a city has changed beyond all recognition from the stereotype 1980's view. Time has moved on. It's very cosmopolitan now. I love it more than ever. Glad you didn't chant dated songs that other fans who still believe it's the 1980's do. (They probably think Duran Duran are due another #1 hit soon.).

Liverpool fan here, very fair scores except for the atmosphere one. Where the away fans sit is next to the west of the main stand which is known as the tourist area of Anfield, songs were being sung as they could be heard on the tv but understand you rate it from where you were sat, an early kick off against a smaller team (no offence) won’t generate a full anfield atmosphere . Keep the content going, subbed and liked
