Deanna Tikhonov WHNP-BC discusses the causes for irregular periods, mood swings, acne, and cramps and why these symptoms are not just a "normal" part of being female. The truth is, troublesome symptoms occurring during your menstrual cycle actually indicate a problem, sometimes minor or major that once addressed can banish your symptoms for good! Hormonal birth control is not the long term solution and only masks the underlying cause. But YOU have the power to heal and improve your menstrual health.

But what if you're eating perfectly and drinking only water and doing all the other things you mentioned but still have these big fluctuations? On paper I'm an extremely healthy individual, get good sleep, eat well, meditate, exercise ect. So what else is there?
    Thanks!!

Birth control CONTROLS the hormones WHICH ARE THE EXACT THING THAT CONTROLS THE EMOTIONAL SIDE OF OUR BRAIN.
      A BRAIN.
YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS POCAHONTAS?
IT'S THAT SQUISHY THING IN YOUR SKULL THAT MAKES YOU SMART.
AND IF IT'S WRINKLED THAT MEANS YOU'RE SMART.
YOU HAVE A BABY ASS BRAIN SMOOTH AS FUCK

AND THAT'S NOT A COMPLIMENT JUST IN CASE YOU TAKE IT AS ONE.

@@SLOTHSRIDEUNICORNS Yes, I know what birth control does. I have listened to information like this before demonozing birth control and have stopped taking it in the past. I know that birth control or certain types aren't for everyone (everyone's hormones/body are different). I however, have had severe PMDD before and after stopping the pill. It is a life saver for me. I've tried every "diet" and everything under the sun "balance hormones naturally" and birth control is the only thing that's helped me. I think it's wrong to say one thing is for everyone, it's misleading.
And I'm sorry but I'm very smart, have an above average IQ and am hyperlexic and read 5x faster that the average human 🙂
Pocahontas? Is that a racial slur? Lol okay.

Thanks for this! My PMS is not fun at all, and I know I can fix it with food. Would you mind doing a video about good foods to eat to combat specific symptoms?

2:20 WOAH THANK you for saying that!!! Could you talk about key differences between PMS and PMDD??

Your welcome! While PMS usually improves as soon as your period starts and is more mild in severity, PMDD is more extreme and can impact your relationships and ability to function day to day. PMDD may not resolve when your period comes either.
