Hey bro! Another great tutorial! I’ll be an expert in cars soon! Hehe learning 👍🏽🥰. Very informative! Hope you’re enjoying the new year bro! Take care ❤️
I have a 2006 330i N52 my car over heated the other day and I needed to add coolant since then my water pump seems to runs continuously not stopping until battery is drained my water pump also does not shoot coolant out like yours it shoots up like it’s aiming at my passenger mirror I have been told it could be relay or fuse but I personally think it’s the water pump what do y’all think ?( also my thermostat was changed about a month ago by previous owner I just got it with 205,000 miles the only things I know the car needs is o2 sensor)
Hey there, ya could be your water pump. I wonder how it shoots up at your mirror? The only way I can think of that is if you took off the cap with the engine hot and it came flying out. If your pump is not circulating coolant properly for some reason (like a blockage or something) then the ECU will command the pump to stay on as the ECU (computer) doesn't know any better and it will just command it to stay on until the temp comes down (which won't happen if you have a circulation problem)
My coolant is also not a stream, it sprays upwards and in bursts not sure what the means either. But I think we are having the same issue. Did you get it fixed??

Hey brother thanks for the comment, the pump vid has not been posted yet. I'm still editing it. The pump is located on the passenger side underneath the car. I can help you along if you need any advise. I hope to have the vid out in a few weeks. I used an aftermarket pump and it worked fine and even came with the new aluminum bolts.
@@GarageKing Which pump did you use? I'm having a bit of trouble. I replaced my pump and thermostat and I did the bleed process. I turned it off then ran the car for about 15 min and it started to overheat. I tried to do the bleed process again but it never turned back on? I ran a scanner and I got code 2E84. I don't hear the pump kick on anymore. I wanted to see your video to make sure I did it correctly. I'm not sure if it's a bad pump or wire issue. Thanks for your help.
@@kobe_goat_24 Hey sorry for late reply, I had to go into the raw footage to see the pump part # Its a Doorman 599-960 model. I did use a genuine BMW thermostat, but the pump is aftermarket. I found the connector was REALLY REALLY hard to push together on the water pump, and I even used a set of pliers to compress the fitting. I thought I was going to break it. I'm wondering if yours is plugged in all the way, I could see the plug not being seated an issue, because it would work, and then vibrate loose a bit and loose its connection. The 2E84 can be caused by a bad ground so make sure the ground terminal that you had to screw onto the front of the pump in clean and tight, and check the connector. I would be curious so let me know if that helps at all.
I just changed the thermostat and the engine still overheats when running at low speeds, start & stop. However, at high speed, it cools off quite fast. Is this likely a water pump failure? I haven't done the test shown in the video yet.
Most likely it probably is, and a good sign is when you are driving faster the engine does not need the water pump as much as there is more air flow cooling the engine. Here is how to change your waterpump ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
The E60 can have the N54 engine. I'm not sure what you mean about breakwater drop. If you need to replace your water pump here is the video. ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
Hey There, well you may need a pump. A sure way to check to make sure is with a bi-directional scanner. Just make sure you are doing exactly as show for the test. It would suck if your timing was off and your pump was actually ok. If you go through and the pump still does not work, you can check if there is a fuse that is blown. (I'm not sure which circuit the pump is on) If have to replace your pump this is what you have to do. ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html If you are doing the test right, then most likely you need a new pump.
I have a 2000 323i wagon. The other day my temperature gauge went to RED rather quickly. It’s never ran hot before, the only part I’ve had to replace is the fuel pump. Anyway, it was completely out of coolant, and there is a massive leak that I am about to look for. Any advice?
If it was completely out of coolant, that’s a pretty big leak. I would look for a split hose. You could always put a pressure tester on it and pump it up and listen for leaks (air coming out), or just fill it with water and see. Good thing/or bad thing is the leak should be fairly easy to find.
@@GarageKing so the leak was my expansion tank. There’s a light blue sensor/ plug on at the bottom that was hanging loose, so that’s where the massive leak was, lol. Should I replace the whole thing? Or does that sensor just plug back in ? There’s no damage that I could see, given that it just completely drained itself in a matter of seconds. Sorry for the dumb questions, I’ve always taken my car to the dealership for scheduled maintenance and the only repair I’ve had to make was the fuel pump. I’ve never had to work under the hood on it.
@@markhenderson8832 Hey there, I would take out the tank and sensor, and inspect it. The sensor came out for a reason so either the sensor housing is bad, or the tank is bad, or both. I would inspect both. My guess is one is probably bad. If the sensor and tank are not too much money I would replace them both.
@@GarageKing thank you! I was inspecting it earlier and saw a huge hole in the lower plastic hose, looks like it was rubbing up against the belt next to it.
after coolant bleeding this pump of mine is new aftermarket but it doesnt pump as strong as yours..is that a concern? also, should it cycle on and off or stay on all the time..i changed the coolant sensor and did as ur video to bleed and the pump only came on a few times thank u any way to check temp..the only time i hear my fan on is when the ac is on???? 2008 bmw 328i sedan
Hey thanks for the comment, you fan will only come on when ac/defrost is engaged, or the coolant temp is hot (close to or above boiling) The pump should be ok, as it is variable, so cycles during driving and does not run full steam the whole time. Just make sure you you get all the air bubbles out so you don't confuse a weak pump with one that is pumping air/water mix. During the test it is suppose to keep cycling. If you have a scanner with bi-directional control you can test the pump and also see the temp when the T-stat opens and you can get a better picture of the engines efficiency.
Im having a 2e85 bsd message electric coolant pump missing fault code. I find the water pump working and by following your procedure and its bleeding fine. Any ideas with regards to this code?
If your pump is operating below spec you can still get that code. It could still be your pump. At times the wiring can cause this as well (you can get a replacement harness for the pump) but many times its the pump. You should have quite a bit of pressure when its operating (bleeding)
The only way to know for sure is to lift the car and take off the bottom shield, this way you can see everything. If its a fast leak most likely a hose split. If its slow it could be from the a cracked radiator, or the waterpump.
Hi, I have a question I replaced the water pump twice already between only 4months. My question is why is it still breaking is there any problem that I could look of why my water pump keeps breaking?
Hi There, 2 pumps in 4 months is way too much !!! A replacement pump should last a few years. The things I see.... 1. Make sure pump is properly bled, air bubbles cause the pump to run too much and can cause failure. 2. Make sure the connection (plastic connector) is good. Its a real ***** to get is connected and sometimes you have to use pliers to squish it together until it clicks and its got to be straight. A bad connection can simulate a bad pump when really the pump is fine, its just the connector wiggles out or someone broke it putting it in. 3. Ground - make sure the ground connector is good as a dirty ground can cause problems.
Hi, I have a 2009 bmw 323i. Knocking noise by the belt, the sound goes with engine even when you idling. I am wondering if it is not crankshaft,or water pump failure? Thx.
Hey There, probably not the waterpump as they don't generally make that sound. I doubt its the crank as you would have a low pitched "thud" that raises and lowers with RPM. I think most likely you may have a bad bearing in one of the idler pullies for the serpentine belt. You can take the belt off, start the car and see if the noise is gone. You can alway use one of these amzn.to/3QHUnEZ to listen closely. I have one and use it quite a bit.
my pump does the bleed just fine, I can see the rpm's (and hear it) but I get 0 (zero) rpm's from it when engine is running (using 'running' stats on my OBD) new battery fully charged. oh E90.
Thats good your pump is operating. If you are referring to it not running when the engine is running then it could just be that the computer has not commanded it on yet. It should begin to operate once the engine heats up.
I’ve had a few coolant hoses go recently on my N53 and when it is losing coolant quite fast it makes a weird buzzing noise but different to the one in this video. Could this be related to the Waterpump too? Or maybe just the pump running dry with the loss of coolant?
You have a good theory with the buzz noise being attributed to a dry pump. I have never heard a pump run dry, but it's a possibility. I'm not sure what else it could be, unless the coolant you are loosing is spraying out and hitting something hot, or hitting a thin piece of metal and by the time the sound travels back into the cabin it sounds like a "buzz"
@@GarageKing Yeah, it was the coolant pipe that goes to expansion tank and it was leaking onto the radiator when the car was warm, so I guess that would kind of explain it. I recently had a pipe fixed which goes to the heater matrix and when the mechanic bled the system he didn’t report any issues so could just be me worrying. The buzzing noise could only be heard from outside by the way. Thanks for the reply 👍
@@jordanclarkson2010 Makes sense, coolant hitting the hot rad, I'm glad you got it all fixed up. Sometimes problems like these are the most annoying ones as they are hard to pinpoint. Glad you got it all fixed up. Enjoy the rest of your day !!!
My check engine light just came on my 328xi. Said the engine was overheating around 250F but there is a leak around the valve gasket. Would that be the cause or could there be more issues. Your help would be appreciated 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
Hey there, and thanks for the comment. Valve cover leaking would not cause a check engine light, or cause the engine to overheat. It will only result in an oil leak. Your overheating is caused by a problem with the cooling system, or the radiator fan. 1st thing to check is the coolant level because if you have a leak there won't be enough coolant for the pump to circulate and the engine will overheat. If the coolant is full its most likely the water pump, thermostat, radiator fan (or the relay or electrical system that turns the fan on)
@GarageKing i have fault codes 002E81 for electric coolant pump, speed deviation an fault code 002EF4 map thermostat mechanism. But the status of them are not currently present my code reader says. But they keep coming back when i clear it but says its not present. Also when i test my pump the way you do the stream is on for like 5 seconds then shuts off an then comes back on. But when the car is running its a nice strong stream. Should i replace thermomstat an water pump anyways?
Humm, I'm wondering if your pump is intermittent. Because of the speed deviation I would lean towards changing the pump. The speed deviation usually means the pump is not operating within parameters all the time which is usually a sign it's going. Now it could go on for a while, or go downhill fast. Some last longer than others. But before you go changing the pump make sure your coolant is full. If it's low, that can cause deviation as there can be air in the system.
@@jacobthompson8078 Well 4 years, not unheard of, but the code does lean towards the pump being done, if you are curious what required to do it, here you go ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
Most likely its the waterpump failing and it cant continue to run when it should. Even if the thermostat is stuck it should keep running. I think you need a new waterpump and here is the video to do it ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
@@GarageKing hey so i think mine might be on the way out, the stream is not as powerful as yours, and i have yet to get the engine overheated light. however after short drives my fan goes berserk and the throttle response weakens. i still think its overheating. do you think this is still water pump/thermostat related?
Do they all have an electronic water pump mine is a 2006 320i. I have I zero coolant stream when I do the 10 second gas pedal procedure. But when I start the car, there is a stream. The heater in the car is also cold when stationary but is hot the second i drive and then goes cold again once stationary with the engine hot and running still
Yes it does, as the water pump is designed to run in coolant with no bubbles. When your coolant level get low you can introduce bubbles and your waterpump won't be as effective so the computer keeps speeding it up to get more coolant flowing, but there is not more coolant so what happens is your pump runs at a higher rate of speed and can burn out faster.
Hi there, I wonder if you introduced air into the system. I would try to bleed the system of air, and activate the pump, just like in the video a few times, as it pushes air out of the system. You most likely have an air lock "a big air bubble" in your system.
@@stoicadaniel1909 Yup you are right, if the pump is broken the car will overheat. Its best to replace the pump and the thermostat, as the thermostat is located right beside the pump.
You are probably not putting it into test mode the right way. When you do start it and the pump flows how much does it flow? If its flowing a lot then your pump is most likely fine
Hey there, you may hear the water pump, but its really quiet when the pump has failed. You can check the fuse for the waterpump, Its in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side. You need to remove the fresh air filter cowl from the top of the engine, in order to remove the cover. There is mostly wires in the box and its made out of white plastic. I think its a 30amp fuse. It may be the only fuse in there, you can pull it and look to see if its blown. If its ok then most likely its your waterpump and you are going to want to watch this on how to replace it. Also if its blown, a bad pump drawing too much current can also blow the fuse. ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
Can you please help... My car BMW 2014 X3 F25 the Electric Water Pump Bleeding was working fine twice. Then, it stop after I used the Blue Devil Head Gasket Sealer. The Engine getting hot. So, I changed the Thermostat and clean out the Reservoir Tank. Same issue. Should I change the Water Pump? Is there fuse that I should check? DTC Status: Current 2) 1A2004 Electric Fan, Actuating Wire: Line Disconnection DTC Status: Current 3) 1A2002 Electric Fan, Actuating Wire: Short Circuit to Ground DTC Status: Current Please help :) Thank you & God Bless
Here is the video to replace the water pump if you need to ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html Now the first code is fine if your water pump failed, but I'm curious about the other two. If you changed the thermostat you would have taken the waterpump out so I'm wondering if you forgot to connect something fully and the plug wiggled out? I would check all your connections first. I can't see the Blue Devil sealer causing any problem but you never know. I tend to stay away from those sealers as they usually don't work long term, they are more of a temporary patch.
@@GarageKing BMW 2014 X3 F25 you can remove the Thermostat housing without removing the Electric Coolant Pump. I changed out the Thermostat thinking it got stuck close therefore my car running hot. I did clean out blue gel inside the reservoir tank completely.... (A new Reservoir Tank and Electric Coolant are on order). Do you know if there is a fuse to check?
@@mdang3662 You are right but, its still a fairly big job, most do both at the same time. Most times running hot is the water pump not circulating fast enough. I think there is a fuse, but you have to check your manual. I'm not sure where it is. Also if the fuse is blown you have to look at what caused the fuse to blow.
Yes that is normal. Once you stop driving the temperature raises in the cylinder head (for a short period) so to prevent this the pump can run for a short period after you shut the engine off, this is normal.
It could be that your pump is not flowing enough. Sometimes they kind of 1/2 fail and they don't flow enough. If you pump if flowing, but not enough your car will still overheat. The other thing is if the system has dirty coolant something could be plugged, you may have to flush with water and refill with coolant. Congrats on replacing the thermostat, not the easiest job to do !!
Well that is good, the heat to your hood is most likely not a problem, and when you are driving it should cool down with air flow. You mentioned the oil temp is ok, please make sure your coolant temp is ok as well :)
I got a new water pump and thermostat and i do the bleeding process and water pump test but doesn’t circulate. The reservoir doesnt piss out. What are other possibilities? I bought them new from ebay
Hey there, I know the connection for the water pump is tight from the factory. Here is the link to the water pump replacement video ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html if the connectors are not tight that will surely cause your problem. Also there is a tight ground wire you must secure. You could also look for a blown fuse. I'm not sure which circuit the water pump is on, but you could check that.
My z4 did not overheat, a hose broke and coolant was dropped but I turned the car off inmediately, no overheating at all. 3 hours later when checking the hose the mechanic tested the pump and it seems like it is not working, the car was cold at that moment, could it be that the pump starts working until the car reaches it's working temperature?
Hey there, the pump actually doesn't run when the car is cold, and its variable so as your car heats up it runs faster, then you also have your thermostat. You should still be able to do the test on a cold car.
@@GarageKing Hi, thanks so much for your reply. Checking if my understanding is correct: So if the car was cold, it is normal to not see the pump active until it heats up, once it starts heating the pump will start functioning. However if I do the test(start electrical system but not start engine, press pedal 10 seconds) it should trigger the pump and it should start working.
@@luisleal4169 Yes you are correct, and maybe try the pedal test again with even timing between the pedal pushes. I know once you activate the car you have to start with the pedal fairly quick, if you don't the car will think you are just pushing the pedal for no reason, there is a small window of time to begin the test.
Hey thanks for the comment and thanks for supplying your engine code. You have the 4 cylinder engine so you may not have the electric water pump. I’m not sure. An easy way to check would be to look at your serpentine belt under the door and see if it’s driving a pulley that looks to be attached to a pump. The other thing you could do is call the dealer and give them your Ser# They will tell you what type of pump you have. If it’s not coming on when you test it, it could have totally failed so you could have an electrical pump. I would call the dealer and have them check for you. This way you know for sure.
@@karanveersingh301 That is a possibility, but usually if the heater valve gets stuck open then you just have heat all the time through the vents, if the valve gets stuck closed then you get cool air through the vents, but which ever way it is, I don't think it would cause the engine to overheat?
Hey There, I did film the changing of the pump, but I didn't edit it yet, so I have about 4 hours of footage that I have to make into a 12min video. It can be done. You have to jack up the car, remove the underskirt, and if you look just behind the steering rack its there. There are aluminum mounting bolts, and you have to get ones ones as they stretch. Its not the easiest job, but if you take your time and allot a good portion of the day you can get it done.
If your car is pump has a strong spray like in the video, there is the possibility that it could be the thermostat. If you have a scanner with live data, one like this is cheap ua-cam.com/video/tDL-tAivuDA/v-deo.html as it only costs about 50-60 bucks. You can monitor your engine temp from a cold start and see when the thermostat opens (if it does) and then see at what temp the fan comes one. Very helpful.
It could be a number of things, as it's an electrical device. They break down with age and use, just like a starter motor or alternator. Some last longer than others. Good vehicle maintenance such as regular coolant flushes, and keeping the engine clean can prevent corrosion which can contribute to problems.
So my water pump never failed but my battery died during a bleed so it threw codes I cleared them the water pump I assume works. It ran fine during the bleed procedure. So my fault codes were P2aaa b2aaa it’s electronic related so I guess that’s because my battery died so word of advice those codes aren’t too bad check fuses I did charge my battery at a whopping 6amp
I did this to mine to see if that’s the reason why my fan keeps running on high but the water pump works because i have a flow of liquid So what could it be 🤦🏽♂️ I don’t want to spend almost $1k for something that’s not gonna fix the issue
Hey there and thanks for the comment. If you have the AC on, or defrost the fan may run on high. Make sure the liquid is flowing pretty fast. Also look at your engine temperature gauge and see if the engine is hot. If so your thermostat may not be opening.
GarageKing I just tried it I think my water pump is bad cause I didn’t even see the water coming out in the Cup lol but my bmw doesn’t seem to be over heating any advice?
Hey there, if your water pump is bad it should overheat after a little driving. The one in the video that I posted overheated pretty quick and it was in the winter. When I did the test on the vehicle in the video and listened closely I could hear the buzzing on and off. When you tried it could you hear any sound? You can definitely hear a good pump run. After I changed the pump and did the test I could easily hear the pump turning on and off. If you car is not overheating your pump is probably ok. What’s going on with you car? What’s the symptom ?
GarageKing yeah I haven’t had any problems with overheating So your thinking my water pump might be okay? I just don’t get why it’s not shooting the water out
i can’t figure out my issue🤧🤧🤧 water pump is new, radiator is new, thermostat is new fan clutch new. everything working as it should but i keep getting to hot
Hey there, make sure your fan turns on when it gets hot. You can test your fan by turning on the defrost. You don't have a fan clutch, but maybe you meant the fan relay. There is a fuse, and its on the passenger side in a white box under the hood near the cowl. BUT if your pump is running the fuse is fine. If you are getting flow like in the video, then you may have a bad sensor which is telling the computer your car is cold, when it is really hot so that's why the pump is not turning on. You can check this with a scanner that has live data. Start the car when cold and monitor the temp on the scanner, it should increase and if it doesn't then you have a bad sensor. I just did a review on a cheap one that works really well. ua-cam.com/video/tDL-tAivuDA/v-deo.html
Yup this video shows how to check it, if your water pump is not shooting out water like in the video, then you most likely need to replace the water pump.
@@GarageKing But what if there is a leak? Will it still show shooting out water? My F30 is leaking a lot of coolant, i am hoping its the hose rather than the pump.
@@simdevils I hope its just the hose. If there is water in the system it should still shoot water like in the video, as long as the pump has enough water to grab. SO if you fill up the reservoir and test it, it should shoot water out like in the video. I I did do the pump and thermostat replacement and that video is here ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
You mean your car stops suddenly on the road? When your car shuts off if your temp high? If your temp is high you could either have a leak and your coolant level is low, your thermostat could be stuck, or you may need a water pump. There is also the possibility there is something wrong with your charging system, but then I'm not sure if you would have been able to restart 8 times.
You most likely need a waterpump if the check did not work. Here is the video on how to do it if you want to try ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
Hey thanks for the comment. Not normally, it should still run, but if the battery is really weak then yes maybe. Once you start going under 11V on most cars funny things start happening. You could always put a charger on it when you are testing it to ensure you are above 12V. Happy Sunday to you :)

@@GarageKing how long did it take to change?
@@leftylok83 Hey Thanks for the comment, and sorry for the late reply. If I was not filming it, probably 2 hours. Because I filmed it maybe 6-7 hours.
Great video 👍
Thank you good Sir !!
Good evening, my car e60 and I had a problem with a breakwater drop
The E60 can have the N54 engine. I'm not sure what you mean about breakwater drop. If you need to replace your water pump here is the video. ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
Hey man brilliant video. I do this cycle and the water pump doesnt kick in and my cooling fan runs. Do you have any ideas?
@@markhenderson8832 That is excellent, at least you found the leak and know what you have to do.
after coolant bleeding this pump of mine is new aftermarket but it doesnt pump as strong as yours..is that a concern? also, should it cycle on and off or stay on all the time..i changed the coolant sensor and did as ur video to bleed and the pump only came on a few times thank u any way to check temp..the only time i hear my fan on is when the ac is on????
Nice sharing 🙏🏽
Thanks for visiting, I do appreciate it :)
Can a non functioning heater control valve cause overheating? I don’t get hot air at all.
Not 100% sure, but it may be able to depending on how it failed. Opened or closed.
Do you have to mess with the screw (next to tank cap) at all during bleeding procedure?
No I didn't. After you run the car and its pressurized you can loosen that screw to get out any air, but its usually not necessary
@@GarageKing Thanks!!!
Awesome tips!
Thanks !!!!
I put the coolant in but it's leaking out from the bottom, is it the water I need to replace or its the radiator, can you please advise, thank you
The only way to know for sure is to lift the car and take off the bottom shield, this way you can see everything.

@GarageKing I appreciate the help. Its been 4 years since the pump an thermostat was last changed.
@@jacobthompson8078 Well 4 years, not unheard of, but the code does lean towards the pump being done, if you are curious what required to do it, here you go ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html

Does the flow in the expansion tank have to be that strong? Mine isn't that strong and I'm having overheat issue.
It should be similar, if its not strong your pump is beginning to fail and that's why you are overheating (not enough flow)

Soo, does this mean that if there's a stream of coolant squirting then the pump is okay?
Yes, but it should be a powerful stream like in the video. If its a weak stream thats a sign the pump in on the way out.
@@GarageKing hey so i think mine might be on the way out, the stream is not as powerful as yours, and i have yet to get the engine overheated light. however after short drives my fan goes berserk and the throttle response weakens. i still think its overheating. do you think this is still water pump/thermostat related?

Oh no, usually white smoke means you may have a head gasket leak. You can get an inexpensive tester to make sure amzn.to/4297ow6
Does driving with insufficient coolant increase the chance of water pump failure?
Yes it does, as the water pump is designed to run in coolant with no bubbles. When your coolant level get low you can introduce bubbles and your waterpump won't be as effective so the computer keeps speeding it up to get more coolant flowing, but there is not more coolant so what happens is your pump runs at a higher rate of speed and can burn out faster.
hello, i have to change a hose , and after that coolant temp is about 77-82°. only semiopen thermostat or/and water pump? thanks.
Hi there, I wonder if you introduced air into the system. I would try to bleed the system of air, and activate the pump, just like in the video a few times, as it pushes air out of the system. You most likely have an air lock "a big air bubble" in your system.

My doesn’t flow coolant but when start engine, it starts to flow. Do I have bad water pump?
You are probably not putting it into test mode the right way. When you do start it and the pump flows how much does it flow? If its flowing a lot then your pump is most likely fine
what if i do not hear the water pump.. is there a way to test the fuse?

I changed my thermostat like three days ago and my electric water pump is working but my E83 still overheat when I accelerate closer to 100
It could be that your pump is not flowing enough.
My waterpomp works well. But hood is hot. But temperature of oil is ok
Well that is good, the heat to your hood is most likely not a problem, and when you are driving it should cool down with air flow. You mentioned the oil temp is ok, please make sure your coolant temp is ok as well :)

Here is the link to the water pump replacement video ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html if the connectors are not tight that will surely cause your problem.

How did you change it?
Hey There, I did film the changing of the pump, but I didn't edit it yet, so I have about 4 hours of footage that I have to make into a 12min video. It can be done.
What causes a water pump to break down?
That's good to know and appreciate you sharing as it will help others. Thanks again and hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Hey there and thanks for the comment. If you have the AC on, or defrost the fan may run on high. Make sure the liquid is flowing pretty fast. Also look at your engine temperature gauge and see if the engine is hot. If so your thermostat may not be opening.
No water flow. Temperature rises. Water pump problem? Thermostat problem?
Most likely the water pump, here is the repair video ua-cam.com/video/K-JXuMHgVJE/v-deo.html
My 525i 2001 is ran by the belt
If your water pump is driven by the belt then if you car overheats the thermostat could be stuck or you have low coolant because of a leak.

Does this work on a 2 series?
Good question, and to be honest I’m not sure. I never tried it on a 2 series. If you find out please let me know as I would be curious. Thanks :)
Its possible the 2 series has a different test and you are just not activating the test.
GarageKing yeah I haven’t had any problems with overheating So your thinking my water pump might be okay? I just don’t get why it’s not shooting the water out
My water pump is good then what’s makin my car overheat
Your thermostat could be stuck.
i can’t figure out my issue🤧🤧🤧 water pump is new, radiator is new, thermostat is new fan clutch new. everything working as it should but i keep getting to hot

Can weak battery cause the pump not functioning well ?.
Hey thanks for the comment. Not normally, it should still run, but if the battery is really weak then yes maybe. Once you start going under 11V on most cars funny things start happening. You could always put a charger on it when you are testing it to ensure you are above 12V. Happy Sunday to you :)
