The Lone Bellow: 'Call To War,' Live On Soundcheck

"Our voices feel like they were made to sing together," says Kanene Doheney Pipkin, one third of the The Lone Bellow. It's an assertion soundly borne out by the Southern-fried Brooklyn trio's sophomore record Then Came The Morning, released this January. The record might not mark a major sonic departure from the grandiose folk rock from the band's 2013 debut that brought so much acclaim.
But a collaboration with The National's Aaron Dessner (who has produced albums by Luluc, Sharon Van Etten and others) resulted in some subtler shades around the edges of Zach Williams', Brian Elmquist's and Pipkin's ecstatically intertwined voices. It's a delightful and stirring sound fans clearly love.

I love her voice.
This is the best cut on The Lone Bellow's sophomore CD, "Then Came The Morning." Kanene Pipkin should be take "center mike" more frequently.
I absolutely agree. Something magic about the tone of her voice.
I saw them perform live last night, and I couldn't agree more. The three songs that Kanene took lead on were absolutely magical, in fact I came to this video because the first thing I searched for was Kanene Pipkin.

I agree with William. They all have such great voices, and it is refreshing to hear the blonde guy and Kanene have leading vocals on some of the songs from this album. In my opinion, Then Came The Morning, Call To War, Watch Over Us, and Heaven Don't Call Me Home are the really high quality songs from their second album.
I could listen to her voice till a sad wind puts me six feet down. Even if she were just telling me to take out the garbage.
