    Not only do most East Asians/Native Americans contain the ABCC11 gene but also contain the EDAR V370A gene which makes their hair thicker in diameter and straighter as well. It is said this gene also likely developed in response to the cold weather.

      Same here.. I do have a lot of thin body hair but not in armpit. I never tried any deodorant as well. I don't even take a bath regularly as I age especially when I'm only staying home but since Philippine is a tropical country, I need to take a bath everyday or twice a day when it's summer but when Ber-months already I rarely do daily and I don't smell. I just wash the private part and it's okay.

    Growing up it was pretty hard to resist the odor of some white or black kids tbh. Back then I never imagined it was a racial difference and I remember asking my white friend (who was somewhat overweight) if he ate hamburgers every morning. I learned that was body odor years later.

    It has been a well known theory among Japanese to classify ourselves whether we are more indigenous Japanese or tend to be close to those who came from Korean Peninsula around 2,000 years ago with farming skills.
    Earwax, armpit smell, & body hair are always the key elements.
    95% of Okinawan have wet earwax because it was isolated.
    Both of my parents’ family have wet earwax, hairy and body odor, so we always talk that we have more indigenous blood, and we are from Tokyo.
    Kinda interesting to see you guys recently started talking about it as if it is a new theory😮

In fact, I have a pair Converse that I don’t wear because of it. Anyhow, I have met East Asians w/ bad breath and I had a Vietnamese friend whose family had a pungent body odor. Funny and interesting show. I got my Mexican best friend hooked on a bamboo ear wax tool and that's what she wants as a souvenir from Japan whenever I go. This June in Japan, I found that instead of bamboo, I found a black lacquer one and I love it. I think it is true that your body odor is affected by what you eat because in the past, I have come across Korean people with smell but maybe it was their breath I smelled due to eating kimchee. Now they carry toothbrushes and brush their teeth after they eat, especially a lunch when they don't want to offend coworkers. I've been to both, Korea and Japan and never came across a body odor person.

    Stank breath got nothing to do with perspiration... anyone who eats a clove of garlic has the same capacity to ward off a vampire regardless of their race.
    Yeah, it's more difficult for someone overweight to keep their body clean because they're more likely to have skin folds, and they also sweat more.
    Neoteny typically only stands to benefit Asian women. Even if it contributes to Asian men looking youthful for longer, it's not a masculine quality, which is why Asian men often get labelled as effeminate.
    Another factor is that East Asians generally have less body hair; less facial hair, too. Kind of wild how South Asians are the precise opposite in this regard, though.
    Never considered age to be a potential factor, but come to think of it, that sounds about right. Our body's ability to maintain homeostasis does become inhibited as our organ function declines, so it makes sense.
    Our culture's reticence to talk about these topics openly and earnestly speaks to the politicization of science more than anything. If we can't even acknowledge valid scientific findings because we're afraid of the potential social implications, what else are we supposed to rely on to ascertain empirical truths?

    • @Globeguy1
      @Globeguy1 24 дні тому

      I would say your comment about neoteny on men is strictly western view. In Asia they look at white men (and women) and say they age like milk, they do not equate lines and facial hair with masculinity.

    The body odor isn't limited to armpit hair, the crotch, or other wet areas of the body; it also includes the general lack of body odor among East Asians. White, Black, and Hispanic people have their own distinct body scents-not bad, just unique to each group.

    Wait, people are just now learning about this??? I first discovered this the first time I was in Daegu, S. Korea in 2006. The first Korean lady I dated would be really shy when I was around her when she had been sweating and I would have to constantly remind her that she didn't smell bad(or smell of B.O.) At the time I thought it was weird, in a good way, but thought nothing more of it. Fast forward and after dating other Korean women I saw it was obvious this was a pattern. On the flip side of this(for non-Koreans) deodorant was sold(again, 2006 not present), but not to the levels you would see in the U.S. So "we" did smell and it was much more difficult to hide that since from my studies at that time whites or should I say those of "European Ancestory" have the most sweat glands therefore we have the larger amount of B.O. that will present itself if we sweat a lot(Not a scientific study, just data collected over time through my experiences). Which also makes me think ...well how didn't my B.O. at times not turn those women off... ??? Perhaps the pheromones I was presenting were attractive?? IDK.....

    • @ChimChimChums
      @ChimChimChums 2 місяці тому +1

      Yup, that's the pheromones....and your sweat doesn't smell bad immediately. You have a short window of time when it hasn't been degrading by these bacteria when it doesn't smell bad yet. It stinks when the bacteria start to feed.

    Alright I'm gonna break it down and I'm gonna be straight up about it. This is largely true BUT there is that head / hair odor. I used to volunteer teach English down in Chinatown at the Basement Workshop back in the day and in the winter if you walked into a room full of Chinese folks well .. you knew you were with Chinese folks. You know Korean salon folks will tell you that Chinese people don't like to wash their hair. That could be part of the don't like to drink cold water thing, don't want to lose their yang energy etc. But it is a thing and they may not notice it while they're all popping the champagne to celebrate this gene but if you don't wash that head I'm sorry ... It's there. Korean's eat a lot of kimchi so you can tell that there were Koreans in a closed room for at least a couple of hours after they left, ( and as soon as you hit Korean airspace from 20k feet above, but when it comes to that funk, that deep funk that other members of the human family have, Native Americans and East Asians, north, and more so southeast, they really don't have the "funk". I think it's more than a gene. I think it's bacteria or skin fauna and flora that's partially transmissible. You pick up the bacteria from the folks that you're born from and around and intimate with, and if you do the right things you can get rid of most of it. By the way has anybody else noticed that as soon as you arrive at Narita airport and they open up the doors to the plane, you can smell that "kabi", a slightly mouldy, mildew odour that permeates everything in and from Japan? I mean I have shipped things from Japan, opened up the box when it came to America and there's that smell. Japanese have come over to my house opened up their suitcase and there's that smell. The smell of Japan which probably is some particular type of mould or mildew that's endemic to Japan just as there are bacteria that are endemic to certain parts of the world. So there is that.

    • @KingKong11730
      @KingKong11730 2 місяці тому +2

      lol wtf it’s not mold or mildew. Humans do not actively grow mold or mildew on their bodies, especially not on a nation wide level. It’s just pheromones that seep into homes and buildings and clothes, etc. You can notice that every house has a very distinct smell when you enter it. Obviously people with similar DNA and ethnicity will have more similar pheromones. One of the best predictors of courtship and marriage involves having a smell that your partner is attracted to, many studies have shown this. People cover it up by showering and using scented products, but it’s always there under it all.

    This may trigger some folks as applied to why East Asian women are more preferable to many men, based on things like hygiene -- compared to the "lovely ladies" of another group (shown by gov't. health data/stats) to overwhelmingly suffer from bacterial vaginosis that leads to having a fishy smell. 🤷🏿‍♂️

    5:11 From my experience, they were pretty much all full-on 100% born-and-raised mainlanders (including while they're in other countries). I never really noticed that problem with the Japanese, Koreans, Southeast Asians, or people from TW/HK/etc., so I think it's definitely behavioral/cultural and not gxnxtic, or it could possibly even be environmental somehow (dystopian-level pollution over there); who knows. Even then though, it's not that widespread, just more widespread than you would expect or want to have to deal with on a daily basis.
    One thing that is way more widespread than people from that culture should allow themselves to be stereotyped with (by it being true) it is is the BO (bxll swxxt I think mainly) from the subcontinent; at the college I went to recently, a guy could walk across the entire library, and then if you just go within 10 feet of where he was you can still smell his bxll germs 2 minutes later and start to gag and cough. What blows my mind is when I'm at Walmart and I see a group of exchange students after I smell them from 20 feet away, and then there's actually a girl hanging out with them. I guess they're just used to it or something. The only people not from those countries I've ever smelled that exact same smell from are the ones (whxtx, blxck, etc. people) who have the absolute worst hygiene of anyone I've ever met and openly told me they shower like once a month or something.
    But in contrast with mainland halitosis and subcontinent bxll swxxt, I've heard that in Japan even the average sxx wxrkxr has a better smelling (and tasting) vazhine than regular women in the West (no flavor and/or slightly sour the deeper inside you go [which is normal according to medical professionals] vs. much stronger-smelling flora in the West if they're healthy, or a smell like a hot dumpster for actual sxx wxrkxrs at almost any level establishment). I'd like to run some experiments to verify, but I guess I'll just have to take that person's word for it.

      Does your clothes smell ashy or fiery smoke smells. If it does it's the public air. For example the smokes air fire gets pass town to town, city to city. Rain don't wash them away. When it gets hot, dust will stir up again and get on your clothes.

    My mom use to tell us not to wear someones cloths coz we might contract underarm odor.
    One day while playing, I happen to wear my friend's shirt whose underarm smell like shit.
    After a while, I realize that my underarm starts smelling and I hate it to hell. Initially I don't smell and non in my family smells other than me.

    I hate it when the title has the word "Asian". Asia is so big and diverse. This video title doesn't even work because not all Asian have the genes. Even the term East Asian can still be confusing. Is Vietnam and Laos East Asian or South East Asian? Can we not get grouped in a meaningless grouping? At least go with country of origin or ethnicity. We all have our own issues and many of them are among each other. Lets be more sophisticated about it.
