I don't know who lit the fire under Academy's butt, but they are NOT screwing around anymore. A beautifully detailed and well-engineered kit, it looks to rival Tamiya's Spitfire Mark II, even. A definite must-buy for me. Thank You for sharing, Sir!
thank you for the pure OOB test build. I have the Edu F4F-3 in the stash, but I wanted to make it in the colorful pre-war scheme anyhow. This kit seems to be a strong alternative and I wanted a Jimmy Thach plane on my shelf anyway. The landing gear / gear bay section looks very cleverly designed and sturdy despite the lot of thin parts.
Looks amazing! The FM-2 designation you questioned @1:16 is the designation used by the Easter Motorbody division of General Motors that built the F4F under license from Grumman for the war effort. Eastern also built the Grumman TBF avenger under the TBM designation
Hi Dusan, this looks to be a truly excellent build, I am looking forward to the painting episode, many thanks for this grest video, best regards from Australia, Les
I have just made the new tool Tamiya 1/48 Wildcat as a Martlet which was very impressive and far superior to their initial release. This kit's quality and details looks as good if not even better although it doesn't appear to come with a pilot figure which I always like. I shall definitely be purchasing it when it becomes available in UK and as an American Midway version for contrast.
The Academy Zero is not very good. Wrong shape for the fuselage gun covers (too large and pointed), propeller completely the wrong shape (looks like a paddle), Overdone fabric surfaces, wheels lack detail, tires should be smooth, for some reason they show both ailerons drooped as an option, and the colour callouts are incorrect, Zeros weren't light grey. The cockpit detail and the surface detail look great though, but I won't be buying one. Looks like Academy did a much better job with the Wildcat.
I have F4F from Eduard in 1/48 scale with separately selling wingfold conversion. It is realy hard to buid and really expensive aftermarket goodie. This Academy looks very easy. Same like Zero Edu vs Academy. I must to say: Edu kits are for very skillful modelers and Academy for everyone. Easy and fast with good looking result.
I'm glad you mentioned this. I'm sitting here thinking "Why would Academy release a Wildcat when Eduard just did such a fantastic job. I honestly had to go to Scalemates to verify that this is, indeed, a new tool kit. It looks like Academy did a great job
Hi, to the best of my knowledge no external underwing fuel tanks were mounted to F4Fs until way after Midway. Hobbyboss made the same mistake on their F4F-4 model
While the detail and engineering look good, unfortunately compared to their recent Zero boxing, there's no seated pilot or wheels up option out of the box, despite the misleading boxart depiction!
Another 1/48 Wildcat that cannot be posed in flight without surgery... Is it really that hard to put few extra pieces for inflight as Airfix did for 1/72? Planes on the ground are ugly.
I was really excited through out the video until I seen none of the canopies fit. There's another test build that has the canopies not sitting right as well. The seam half around the fuselage will be hard to fill without destroying the raised detail. I was ready to order one until I seen the canopies. I'll wait for trusted reviews now before buying
But you were willing to waste a little of your very *valuable* time telling us that, weren't you....? 😅 Try reading the onscreen captions in the video. They explain what needs to be explained.
This is incredible, I have never seen such a complete Academy model, it even includes the masking and the pe parts. A quantum leap in quality.
you can get that kit for around 20 dollars in korea. Which is pretty cheap I think
Wow what a great kit! No extra money for folded wings, that's how it should be. Thanks for sharing...
It is nice to know that the aileron is a separate part and can be mounted at the correct angle when folded.

Beauty kit and beauty build. Now please Dusan, paint this lovely lady!
Love your videos Dusan! The kit by Academy looks amazing... Thanks, greetings from Chile, Cris.

I am loving their new box art layout. This is worthy of a frame.
Well done, Academy, that kit looks amazing! And thanks for the video, fantastic as always.

BEAUTIFUL kit! And AMAZING detail!
I am astounded by this quality from Academy! Their kits aren't necessarily bad, but also not great. This fixed that.
Very nice knew kit. Lovely build💥👍💥
Beautiful kit indeed. Great built review. Thanks!
this model has amazing amount of detail for its scale.
Never bought an Academy kit before but I quite fancy one of these!
Its like a Bandai snap kit. Engineered to display the interior and exterior components. My dream come true ! Bearcat next please :)
Top❗️ danke für die Vorstellung. Steht schon auf meiner Liste 😉

Unfortunately, next month. I'll purchase this kit in S.Korea. You're lucky guy to meet almost first in Europe. I'm so excited to meet the Wildcat.
I’ll be getting me one of these!
good job 👍👍😄
Looks better than the Eduard kit. At least the decals will be better in this kit.
Excellent job, Dusan................Are you going to build another and paint it?
Eventually
Makes the Tamiya kit look like a Dinosaur!
Academy going very fine since their AH-1Z kit.
🇺🇲🇺🇸⭐⭐🤩🛩️🛩️🛩️🛩️💯😊☺️😀😁😇❤🎉🎉 very nice fighter plane F4F-4 Wildcat
Academy with this one and new Zero becoming “Tamiya for poor”.
I built the Zero recently and its a much better kit then Tamiya.
@@pandaphil I’ve bought it two weeks ago. Haven’t build yet but sprues looks just great!

Beautiful kit!! What kit number is this??

Nice 1

No, it is not the kit's mistake. When you see 00:53 , the under-wing fuel tanks are just options.
@@jayp.6656That‘s good. Hobbyboss has ‚mandatory holes‘ in their wing positions for the tanks, which need to be closed for a mid- 1942 setup.
Schőner Bausatz❤ Wirst du auch eine mit Bemalung bauen? Lg
Эх...такое бы чудо...да еще в 72 масштабе сделали...😢
Any thoughts about how the Academy kit compares to Eduard's?
Looks better than the Eduard one
Ahhh, wish they would have done the -3 Wildcat.
Just a comment for the algorithm

How would you rate this kit over the Tamiya F4F in 1/48th?
Don't have Tamiya kit, believe it or not. So I can't really tell. I don't have Eduard either. I have only Hasegawa and Arma in 72nd.
I want one!
No oil tank between engine and pilot firewall?🤦
Is academy trying to give tamiya a run for its money

And this is not a trusted♧ review? Lol, Canopy is sitting just fine if you half close it. Will check maby I have used wrong one.
I don’t waste my time on review videos where you don’t say anything…
