I love the fact that the tape won't fall over when measuring something like a board. Happens to me constantly when I'm trying to make an accurate mark on something. I just picked up one of FastCaps tapes more detailed stuff, but the monster stand out on these would be great for bigger jobs. Awesome review. You rock!
Just from seeing your review today on the Stanley Fatmax Tape Measure and I was in need of a new one. I went to my local Lowe's, tested it on the shelf and really liked it. I purchased the 25' and it feels very sturdy. I even like the added bonus of the included detachable hook to place at the end of the tape. Great review and keep them coming.
Today, I got a 30-footer at Home Depot and it’s worth every cent. It’s a replacement for an original Stanley Fat Max 30-footer that I’ve used over the past 12-15 years. The internal components rusted and the tape broke this week.
These auto locks have failed on me every time. Sometimes within the same day. The internal lock is not strong and will fail and allow the tape to start reeling in on it's own slowly. Not good for use in a daily construction type environment.
The metric version of the stanley fax max range doesn't even have a metric adjustment on the case when you are trying to measure an inside corner. Major design flaw, not fit for purpose and the manafacturer advised the importer that there aren't enough customers in Australia and NZ to warrant fixing their error. Last Stanley tool I'll buy until they fix it. Stanley I'm happy to remove this comment if you fix your metric tools. How hard is it to print a metric not imperial measurement on the case?
I just bought one not knowing this flaw, I understand your frustration but really it takes all of 1 minute to convert and scribe in the metric measurement.
Hello from Ram Tool Construction Supply. We've been sharing your videos for over a year now on our social media, great job on the reviews. We as a distribution company have to be careful what videos we post, and am glad you keep to the facts, and are family friendly. However we've had to make a change in our social marketing. Any video or article that links a sale of a tool to another company, we have to forgo. For example, the link you provided for the sale of the tool takes you to Amazon, so we lose market share and can't use your video. We will happily post and share all your videos that don't include links to where to buy the tool as we're only looking for review videos that are informative in nature. Thank you for putting in the time to review all these great tools, you do an excellent job.
RAMToolAndSupply Thanks for watching & sharing! My viewers specifically requested for a long time that I start including links where they can be purchased, which is the main reason that we started including those. Since most people search Amazon, and they typically can read other reviews while they are there, that is who we choose to link to. Unfortunately, unless you made in-house reviews or used tool companies promo vids, I dont really know of any reviewers that do not include links in the descriptions.
Real Tool Reviews Yes, totally understand. Most of the review sites we share and post get around this by hosting the links to the tools from their website rather than their videos. For example they submit a link that simply says "For more information and places to find these products, visit our website..." These other review channels we use ran into a similar impasse where corporations wanted the reviews without losing sales leads, and individuals wanted links to the sales leads. You review a great deal of the products we sell, and our audience gleans advice and insight from them. We're fine with links to the vendor information and their websites as we deal with them directly, but can't use videos with links to outside sales opportunities other than our own if that makes sense. We're not telling you how to run your channel, but rather we enjoy what your reviews have to offer our social media audience, but can't use them with direct links to places to buy the tools. Again, great videos. Keep up the great work.
RAMToolAndSupply There are very few active tool reviewers who make videos....the vast majority have written reviews (with links in the articles). I understand your position, but keep in mind that most people who buy online --- also check around for the best pricing/shipping/reviews on the products that they are interested in. Amazon not only has good pricing (typically), but more importantly they have other reviews on most products there also.....it really helps my viewers make the most informed choices when looking at tools, which is why we will continue to add in links for people to check them out. Thanks for the suggestion!
NICE video I like the fact that it can gravitate so far and not broke and the best I like that they are not very expensive & I like the back round that is in your video
Can you do a comparison of a Fatmax vs Milwaukee vs Bostich? I crunched my 16ft fatmax yesterday morning, and had to rock a 30ft one all day (that I didn't need). A fatmax is the standard, but there aren't many reviews of the other two, and there definitely isn't a comparison video of them all
My very old Craftsman 25' posilock has seen better days. Time to replace it. Can't decide whether to go with a Fatmax or Milwaukee. The Fatmax has a better stand-out length, but the Milwaukee claims to have a better design and better longevity. Any thoughts?
Mike L. I would suggest checking them out in the store at the Home Depot....Personally, I really like these Fatmax Auto-locks & they are all I use now. I have not had any long term use with the Milwaukee versions, so I couldnt say. I dont think you would be disappointed with the Fatmax tapes at all....they are pretty sweet.
n3rdbear Well.....the contest ends tonight at 11:59:59PM EST.....I have to print out all the names, cut them up, and make a drawing video.....that will be posted at some point this weekend. Good luck!
I really like the milwaukee's, but you may have just swayed me to try one of these out. The milwaukee's have a tendency to fall over if left standing..
I may need to pick one up. I have the original Milwaukee tape, and I hate the standout. The head of the tape measure is way too bulky and it gets in the way more than it helps you.
Mark Leone I tried these and numerous other brands in the store at the Home Depot yesterday, and I have to say.....I like the Stanley Auto Locks the best by far.
Russ Webster Thanks Russ! I have tried them in person briefly, but no actual use in the workshop/jobsite with them as of yet. I will look into them again...thanks!
+FoodOnCrack These are not magnetic....but they do come with a large clip that can be snapped on....personally I did not like it or use it, so I didnt think to even mention it.
I'm a framet.. mandatory 30' or larger tapes for the crew. No tapes last. ..not even the new DeWalt xp...fatmax make good tapes, many guys use them. ..but tapes don't last more then month..if that..rain and sand destroy them. .....I used a Craftsman 30" for 20years, free replacement..then they stopped that...I went to DeWalt tapes 30' for $19.. replaceable every 90 days...don't waste money on expensive tapes.
You know you're good when you post a review of a mundane product like a tape measure and I watch the entire video and not be bored! Thumbs up!
Bigchuck678 Haha....that's my favorite comment of the week! :) I am glad you liked the way I reviewed them!

rudboy11 Thanks! I will have to check out the Fastcap ones....for all around use, I highly recommend these Fatmax Autolocks!

I have one and it is by far the best tape measure I've ever owned
TheShane209 I completely agree with that!
I can understand it's probably difficult to review something like a tape measure, but you did a great job haha
Those are some sharp looking tape measures. Wow. I'm impressed. Great review.
Love2boat92 Thanks! I use them a lot.....really nice tapes!

Love my Stanley auto lock. I have a cheaper version, but it's fine great for me. You can't beat the made in USA quality . Great review!
Jordan Booth Nice! Thanks Jordan!
Made in USA of domestic and global components.
Some components are imported from around the world.
perromaster Well, that is with almost anything.....the fact that they are spending the extra to employ more Americans is a good thing in my book.
If it's set to autolock is there more tension when pulling the tape out?
These auto locks have failed on me every time. Sometimes within the same day. The internal lock is not strong and will fail and allow the tape to start reeling in on it's own slowly. Not good for use in a daily construction type environment.
I have the exact same problem with my 25 foot fat max. It's so irritating that I'm returning it to Home Depot and going to try a Milwaukee.
They have a FatMax Extreme now. I believe it has a 13 foot stand out. Love these guys.

I like trying this new tapes out. But i still think you can't beat a good old Stanley 25'. Just for the size of it. Enjoyed your review
Charles Camilleri Thanks! And yeah....its hard to replace a proven winner like the old chrome Stanley tapes!

I have the 30ft and love it. Great tape measure!
Brendan Hollingsworth Nice!
On the metric version the length of the body is still in inches on the housing. Well thought...
+FoodOnCrack They like to keep you on your toes....
NICE video I like the fact that it can gravitate so far and not broke and the best I like that they are not very expensive & I like the back round that is in your video
MP 10000 $ Thanks! Yeah the 11' standout is amazing!
yes it is amazing

I so can't wait for the giveaway drawing tomorrow.

I really like the milwaukee's, but you may have just swayed me to try one of these out. The milwaukee's have a tendency to fall over if left standing..
Scoszko 35 I have not used the Milwaukee ones much, but I do know that an unstable tape is really irritating!
Mine slips used about a week. Not impressed at all.
Thanks for the review. These look like really nice tapes. I have the Milwaukee tapes and really like them. Have you tried the Milwaukee yet.
Russ Webster Thanks Russ! I have tried them in person briefly, but no actual use in the workshop/jobsite with them as of yet. I will look into them again...thanks!
Actually that high tech coating is only on the first 80cm.
I like the ones that have the auto lock with the fractional
+Richard Cowtails Nice...thanks Richard!
Mine broke. Got no idea how to get warranty replacement.
I have 2 25'ers 1 for work and 1 for home.there great tapes!
louis dellanno Good idea!
Don't these come with the magnetic and extra big clip?
+FoodOnCrack These are not magnetic....but they do come with a large clip that can be snapped on....personally I did not like it or use it, so I didnt think to even mention it.
FoodOnCrack Only the metric, European versions have the magnet.
Nice job
George S Thanks George! :)
Why would they make a 25' when the 30 is the same weight and size?
GigaDonk Personal preference I assume.
I feel dumb now, because I thought my tape measure hook had come loose...
Seems like a good tape measure but I can't see myself paying 25$ for a tape measure
+john thomas It definitely is not cheap.....I can see where you are coming from.
why am I watching this
🤣

You aren’t doing something right nothing wrong with the fat max period had mine over 10years.
