    I've had it for a little over a month, and it's pretty damn good. I've found that I can get 14 feet of stand out if I tilt the tape measure a certain way, but even then it's not easy. Not really a fan of the belt hook though. It's actually fine, but today I tripped and it somehow flew off of my pocket. When I went to pick it up, the belt hook was deformed and now it's hard to keep clipped on my pocket. I'll fix it eventually, but other than that, the blade has been holding up quite well too. No rust or anything even though it's seen heavy rain and moisture quite a few times. I will say that the first couple weeks after I got it I had to pluck little strands off of the edges of the blade, but other than all that I'd recommend it for sure

    i mainly used Milwaukee magnetic tip the old 1 and the auto lock, but my personal favorite is the Lufkin shock force from Lowe's. it's been my go to. has the big numbers so easy to see, double sided and claims a 14' stand out I'm getting 13'.

    Hey Clint, enjoyed the video, but I have a few questions. First, how many people need the standout feature? I'm a DIY guy, other than measuring a room which I usually do with my wife or Vinny my grandson. I lay the tape on the plywood or whatever I'm measuring/cutting. I wish I could justify the cost of the Lufkin, with the Macular Degeneration I have my eyes are slowly getting worse all the time. I like the look of the black tape with almost glow in the dark numbers. I don't have one of those either
    LMBO@me.
    Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and videos Rodney

      Hi Rodney! Yeah buddy, not everyone needs a standout like that, but some do. I actually like the feature, but I do like the larger numbers on the Lufkin.

    Had Milwaukee stud and it lasted almost a full day, I do general construction and most of it is outside, so far fatmax is never let me down.

      Whole time I'm saying can it be better than my fat max doubt it

    • @kylemiller8663
      @kylemiller8663 2 роки тому

      Try the wide blade not the stud. Ive been doing gutters for 15yrs and the wide blade is by far the best tape I've use. Those fatmaxs seem to crap out on me every time I pull it to max by accident. The wide blade dont. Then the fatmax rust way easier and that's an issue since I sometimes get it in the old gutter that's holding water.

  • @kylemiller8663
    @kylemiller8663 2 роки тому

    The wide blade Milwaukee has a little better standout says it's the same as the stud but it seems to work better. Also another thing that makes it better than any I've used is I've dropped it from 40ft and nothing happened. I drop my tape a lot and even on concrete. Others have broke. Then the numbers don't scratch off or rust nearly as easy. Their compition the fat max will be horrible at reeling in if you pull it to max by accident and tug on it at max. The Milwaukee does fine. I've even fixed mine when the tape came out of its place on the end and was easy to fix. Others are super hard to fix. It does come In fast but thats what makes it last longer and where it dont mess up if you pull it to its max. My Only real complaint is the hook on the tape needs better grip like some other tapes have. It's not the worst but not the best. If it had a better hook it would be by far the best tape. I only use wide blades now and was a fatmax fanboy until then. They also make one of the best 100ft tapes. DeWalt would be the best if their gears didn't start slipping over time since it reels the fastest.
    Also when measuring standout I measure it with my front hand fully extended and can easily get 14ft. It's also less effected by wind when using the standout. I was super impressed my first one I bought. They're on the heavy side but they also are way more durable so I'd rather have that than less weight. Im rough on tapes and was going through them once every couple months until these. I have one that's about 2yrs old and still works perfectly.

    Seems like a nice tape to add to the arsenal. But I always end up back with my fatmax. One thing I really like about the fatmax is that I can write my measurements on the rubber bottom portion of it, and then when im done with them I just use my thumb and erase them.

    You compared a Stud to a Wide Blade. I was hoping to see a Gen 1 Stud to a Gen 2 Stud. You seemed to intermix the terms. They are different tapes.

    Does this new stud wide blade have the exo360 coating? It didn’t look like it

    • @Zee20Ate
      @Zee20Ate 4 роки тому +2

      If not why don’t they make one? I do concrete and it destroys blades. Milwaukee says the stud with exo360 was designed for this type of contractor, but I prefer a wide blade so I typically use a fat max. But I want a wide blade with exo360.
