- Harvest Giant Clam - Tridacna gigas - Fishermen Harvest Millions of Giant Clams This Way
Have you ever seen these giant giant clams? At first glance, they look very much like coral reefs on the seabed, but in fact these are giant giant clams that can reach a weight of up to 500kg. So are these giant clams considered seafood or not and how do people harvest them? We invite you to explore with us in today's video.
Giant clams, true to their name, we can easily recognize them by their very large size, can be up to 1.3 meters long, with an average weight of more than 250kg. They are slow-growing, long-lived creatures and the world's largest living bivalve. They are found in tropical waters of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Giant clams are essential contributors to coral reef ecosystems, as their filter-feeding activities help maintain water clarity and nutrient balance.
Who cares about the world just give me the P***y.
yes, exactly,it cleans the sea
Verry interisting thank you
Absolutely beautiful brother
Thank you very much
background music is a distraction and overwhelming the narration.
Sorry about that

I’m in love with the sound of their language 😍
Thank you very much
Giant clams are not just passive shells on the ocean floor - theyre surprisingly active, capable of rapid movement using their powerful muscles!
thank you
I know, I know, but the way she opened up that oyster made me feel for that lil fella. Theyre animals after all...
Why do you feel like that?
great job, Sometimes a businessman is the right man for the job.
What makes you think like that?
Its nice to see that the clam farm in Kosrae is still going, I spent about 6 months there back in 2010 and considered working for them. are they raising Gigas clams now? they were considered extinct in Kosrae when I was there. your video brings back lots of good memories, thanks!
thank you
Interesting video. It was cool to see how they are farming the giant clams.
thank you so much
thank you
Good work, and good luck to you
Hope you have a nice day

Yes I have seen them while diving 😊 absolutely beautiful.
yes, very beautiful

In Guam some people wear a CHamoru necklace made from giant clam called a sinahi. It is a very cool way to show Guam pride.
yes, exactly, thanks so much, please Subscribe & ring bell channel to support us help
happy new year
Juuuu
thank You so much
Giant clams are filter feeders, helping maintain water clarity in their habitats.
That's right
Their unique iridescent tissues make them visually striking underwater.
looks really impressive
Where can these clams/oysters be found? The pearls are beautiful, I loved the blue one.
Why do you like the blue pearl?
シャコ貝の養殖場があるなんて初めて知りました 素晴らしいです
thank You so much
happy new year
Great video.....
music background was ANNOYING as hell.
thanks my friend so much, we did fix it in new video, enjoy it!
The shell alone is a treasure
That's right
I wish you had English subtitles. Busy her voice is so sweet and beautiful and she cuts so gracefully. I could watch her all day. I’d love to hear her talk about the items. I was wondering why that was speckled and green and what it’s called and what the dish and style of the dish is called
We will try to do better in the next videos. Thank you.
Great info and very good video.
thanks Michael very much
thanks so much! happy new year
See these magnificant, beautifully coloured animals in natural gardens on the Great Barrier Reef. Completely protected, NO harvesting .

How? By showing how to prepare them as food? 😂
thanks so much! happy new year
Giant clams are among the longest-living creatures on Earth, with some individuals reaching over 100 years of age - a remarkable feat for a marine invertebrate!
thank you
I'm loving the FOREGROUND music so much that I can't even remember what this video is about !
thanks so much, we already fix background music in next video
It was about pretending to care about the future of giant clams. But actually, doing all they can to eat them and make a buck off of them. You're welcome.
@mochasweet4966 They say ignorance is bliss...but I find yours rather irritating
sorry you, we will note .
great instructional video. the background music often overwhelms the spoken audio levels. the narrator has a relatively soft voice that gets lost in the mix.
thanks my friend so much, we did fix it in new video, enjoy it!
thanks so much! happy new year
Great job! Looks like it makes you happy and this is very important.
thanks so much, please Subscribe & ring bell channel to support us help
thanks so much, have a nice day
Just think, all that hard work just so they can be a expensive Chinese/Japanese sushi snack.
Is it worth it to you?
Actually, I wasnt waiting for a big fat pearl, but after reading your post I was interested in that too! I actually was interested in how they were going to get it open, I can barely get the ones I buy to fry at home that are a fraction of this size!!!
Thanks for sharing
this is called marabu, marabu is a kind of food that is a type of shellfish that lives attached to rocks, marabu is also common in the area where I live in BUTON SULAWESI TENGGARA. 👍
What does that mean?
This video reminds me of a girlfriend I had once...
"Why did you say that twice?"
"I didn't"
You see, it was the echo.
May you and your beloved people have a wonderful time in new year
I live in Rhode Island and I really want to start doing this because it looks so amazing and fun and I could really use a couple of tips on where you would even find stuff like this in Rhode Island? If you could get back to me that would be so great. Thank you, I really appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing
Gotta love the 🎵Yaaaaaaaaaaaa🎵 in the music.
Thank you! Love youuuuu
thanks so much! happy new year
Giant clams are important for coral reef health as they recycle nutrients.
Is that true or not?
I cut my fingertips in Australia when snorkeling in Shark Bay. I was not aware of the sharp cartridge on the edge of the gaint clam. Was swiping my hand thru the water over the clam to watch it close. Thankful 🙏 was a serious injury.
yes, You should be careful when handling it
thanks so much! happy new year
We used to eat giant clams every week, and it was the most delicious seafood you can have. First thing to do is to remove the bile so the meat won't get bitter. Nowadays, the local divers can hardly find any of it anymore. Before it would only cost us USD1.00 - USD2.00 for the normal size.
yes, great mussel soup, Nutritious without being boring
Agreed. Too repetitive. When talking there is no need for it. Otherwise very informative.
thank you
Wow, they make their own food like plants
thanks so much! happy new year
Did you know that giant clams have a symbiotic relationship with algae? These incredible mollusks harness solar energy through photosynthesis to support their nutrition.
thank you
I love watching your videos... I want to surprise my nieces and nephews with some of these to open and find pearls!! Where in NY can I get some or where can I order them from?? I’d need about 20 oysters (preferably big ones) is there any advice you can give me??
Thank you and hope you continue to support us.
A small clam is 60-400$ in the aquarium trade
yes, exactly
those are maxima or crocea... these are not for acquarium..
A big one sell for food prob around $100 if that and aquarium trade will sell for at least 500-1000 maybe way more. It’s a shame that they eat them
@@c4snipar anotherone... these are not for acquariums...
thanks so much! happy new year
The sheer size of giant clams is astonishing - some species can grow up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) in length, making them the largest living bivalves.
yes, exactly, thanks for great info
have a nice day
Don't finish everything in the ocean..thank you.❤
thanks my friend so much
Tell that to Chinese people...
thanks so much! happy new year
Are you saying that you opened that gigantic clam shell (and didnt show us) but the only thing in it were the other clam shells(which you call oysters)??? What did the giant clam meat/muscle look like? There had to be one...if so, did you cut it open to check inside of it for pearls?? Sorry, just a lot of unknowns that werent shown...thanks
thank you very much for your comment
The person at 2:08 had a three colored yarn bracelet (black, red, and white) on his forearm. Is he perhaps a Balinese?
We call it “gelang tridatu” here in Bali and we wear them on our right forearm.
happy new year
Thanks for sharing
thanks so much! happy new year
Conservation to eating them…. This messed with my brain!
Why are you confused by that?
Hahahahah protection from Triggerfish! They were born to feast on shellfish!
yes, clam is good food
A chef at a sushi bar gave me a sample of this, and it was delicious.
I had an allergic reaction, and nearly died that night. I eat all kinds of seafood, just this one thing wants to kill me.
happy new year
Nice to know at 5:56 that giant clam meat dishes are consumed by "several people" around the world. Guess perpetuity of the species is all but guaranteed given that statistic 🙂
thanks for your gift, have a nice day
thanks so much! happy new year
Giant clams are listed as vulnerable, emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and protection
Raising them like this is also sustainable.
Have you tried to cross breed them with normal claims in other parts of the World?
How profitable could a claim farm be?
yes, They bring high economic value
happy new year
I want to eat one of these things
What do you want to eat?
Giant clams are the largest living bivalves, known for their impressive size.
Have you ever seen them outside?
Not food rare nearly all gone ........lets get rich $$$ now screw the future
What does what you say mean?
What colors!
PS The music was great!
Thank you so much! I'm verry happy about that
thanks so much! happy new year
I cant be the only one wondering how old that thing is to have gotten so big...
I think it is also old
over 100K clams, imagine the street value of that.
really unimaginable
3:10 Potstickers? 😆😆
Is that really the case?
i wonder how much those blue eyed giant clams cost.
I don't know either
Halfway through this interesting video I had enough. The music was dreadful, and so annoying, I turned off.
thanks so much, we will note and do better music background in next video
@@TonyFarmUs thanks. I didn’t mean to be harsh. But what about no music instead ?
One surprising fact about giant clams is their ability to change colors, displaying vibrant patterns that contribute to their camouflage and protection
yes, also it is rich in nutrients
Why is it necessary to play music louder than the person talking? Very irritating.
Sorry for that
Human activities, like overharvesting, pose a threat to giant clam populations.
They need to be protected from threats.
Most outstanding but get rid of music
sorry for the music
I NEED to go to this place. Possible internship?
I don't know this.
Video interesting. Music horrible.
thanks so much, we will note and do better music background in next video
KIMOO
CHI :))
The last minute where all of the incredible artworks are showcased is obscured and vanish behind the ads for related video suggestions. Disappointing sadly, great content otherwise
Thank you for watching our video.
How long does it take to grow them from small to selling size??
You might define that a bit . One could sell them from a 5# up to a 450# size. As far as I learned about Tridacna Gigas there isn't but a small percentage of that great weight that is eaten. The adductor muscle like in a scallop. Back in the 80's and 90's when i was spending a great deal of my time in the water of the South Pacific I would find the shells open empty on the bottom. The Chinese were killing th e great bi-valve just for that muscle and left 98% or so of the animal on the bottom.
I think, it will talk long, maybe few years
yes, can be few year
Oh hell, I thought you were replenishing the clams back to the ocean, I was going to say very commendable. However you're raising them for slaughter, shame on you.
thanks so much! happy new year
clams filter the seawater. leave the clams alone. You don't have to destroy the eco system to make yourself rich!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They still let them reproduce and do not over harvest.
Music real bad
thanks my friend so much, we did fix it in new video, enjoy it!
sorry, we will note
I have a giant pearl or giant clams need buyers
Why did you sell that pearl?
Can I buy a shell?
I don't know either
"indigenous to several people around the world" lllooollll
thanks
First of all, take those damn glasses off when you make a video. Otherwise enjoy your videos!
Thanks a lot for your comment
