Thanks for listening to my music! When I started this channel over a decade ago, I named it after Republic Commando RC-3222, "Atin", which is Mandalorian for stubborn. It's a character trait that describes me pretty well. I was close to giving up on playing the piano many times, but I never did. Today I couldn't be more grateful about that. I also couldn't think of a more fitting tribute than "Vode An", "Brothers All", the Mandalorian war chant that was introduced to our world as the titular theme of one of the best Star Wars games of all time, Republic Commando. We may not know what really happened to Sev, but we will never forget.
I can actually hear it in the actual game soundtrack, just search republic commando ost and the first result should be the full OST uploaded by MoterCrozz... so the Mandalorian Theme isn't folded into Vode An. It's literally just the notes shifted from words to a piano instrumental... If anything it means the Mandalorian Theme itself is pulled from RC.
_Ni su’cuyi, gar kyr’adyc, ni par’tayli, gar darasuum._ I'm still living, but you have died. I remember you, so you are eternal. (Daily remembrance rite, after which the names of the fallen are chanted.)
Listening to this I can see a large and classy cantina, many years after the clone wars. Spread out among the visitors are the occational clone, these days either mercenaries, bountyhunters or bodyguards. As the pianist in the corner begins to play, noone recognizes the piece at first, but as it reaches the right passage, all these men look towards the piano. For a brief moment all these rough and lonely souls are once again brothers in arms, a sense of belonging that waned long ago.
In my opinion this is the best cover on " Vode An, Brothers All". I'm also a big fan of the Star Wars Republic Commando. That's track reminds me a lot of bright moments which connected with the star wars the clone wars and sw games. The Grand army of the republic was the best in all history of the far-far away galaxy, not empire, not the first order. But the army of the clones: ordinary troopers, ARC- troopers and of course Republic Commando forces like Delta squad, Omega and many others. They were proffesionals and they were strong enough to do their duties in any time. Even order 66 and inhibitor chips can't change that. This piano cover it's the monument to one of best story lines in the Star Wars.
I love how you included the Clones’ theme from the animated series at the beginning and combined it with the original Vode An then added in a bit of the Mandalorian’s theme as a way to bridge the connection between the clones and Mandos. Wonderful work.
Man I remember playing SWRC long ago on the original Xbox and I've played it multiple times even to this day. A truly amazing game, especially for its time. Love the soundtrack as well.
I always think I'm the only one who read those Karen Traviss books and to whom they meant so much. What a pleasure to find out you even named your channel after them! Love it!
The mix, the clear display of love for the craft and for the musical pieces and, of course, the love for the CRIMINALLY UDERRATED Jesse Harlin pieces from SW: RC... What a special treat for sure!
I love this. I love it all. I absolutely love how you tie in several different pieces of star wars into this one cover. You have the Clone Wars theme thrown into the beginning, intermixing the start of the clone wars, the Vode An the obvious main piece, but the Mandolorian theme as the reminder of the clone's origin and especially so for the Commandos, having been trained by the Mando's directly. It's an amazing. This is the way.
I like the mix of Vode An, the clone theme, and the Mandalorian theme. All very good songs and fit the Commandos well. I've also read all of the Republic Commando books so I caught on to your username pretty fast.
I can imagine a cantina filled with clone troopers (100% of the patrons, including the bartender)four of them are from the same squad. The leader quietly starts singing bode an. Than another member of the squad. Than another. And another. Then, they realize that they were in the same squad, back in the war. Another clone in the bar starts singing. Than one more. One by one they start singing. And they know, from the day they were born, to their last breath, they were, are, and always will be... Vode an.
"I used to believe that being a good soldier meant doing everything they told ya. That's how they engineered us. But we're not droids. We're not programmed. You have to learn to make your own decisions."
as someone who hates playing the piano with something on the hands that changes the grip on the piano keys or the weight on the hands, I have to salute to this person that he wore gloves the entire time, not slipping away from the keys or accidentally pressing too many keys due to the wider fingers. awesome work!
This is the true clone theme. I always associate the beginning tune with clone troopers and the brave men who defended Rishi Moon Outpost. Always remember you hevy. o7
An epic follow-up to Star Wars: Republic Commando could be what’s left of Delta serving the Empire, killing Jedi and other resistances. Seeing planets we ventured to initially now trying to resist the Empire, with Delta now working to tear down the planet for the Empire. Have there be clues to Sev being alive that the squad follows whenever possible. The increasingly more organized resistances lead to Delta needing to be deployed even more, until finally it’s discovered that on Kashyyyk that the Wookie uprising that kills Imperials by the thousands, and possibly even some of Delta, is being aided by Sev. The final standoff could be Sev standing opposite to his brothers as some Rebellion leaders escape the planet. Boss attempting to talk Sev down, with Sev shouting that they’re wrong. The Empire, Order 66, all of it is wrong. Scorch fights with Sev with both reluctantly trying to kill the other. Sev handles them both, and then Sev tries once again to reason with Boss. Death Vader enters the area and orders Boss to destroy Sev. A fight ensues with Boss eventually winning, with Sev and Boss staring each other eye to eye. Shock and disappointment in Sev’s eyes, with confusion and anger in Boss’. Fades to black, with the suspense of what happens to Delta left up to the player.
That'd be quite an ending to another Star Wars saga no lie. What's really cool, is that Delta squad was canonized due to their appearance in the Star Wars animated show.
Almost always when this pops up, I watch it, no matter how many times I have before. That statement is one of maybe two videos it can be applied to. Kudos.
