Sam I'm a 38 year music vet (guitar, bass guitar). I play in bands doing club/corporate/private gigs & making a living by doing it. And in that 38 years and at the either young age 49 or old age of 49 depending how you want to look at 49 years old, ive decided to learn how to play the keyboard. And i am a long damn ways from being as good as you my friend. LOL! You did a fine job here. And i really appreciate the way you focused the video simply on the instruments voices. Thats what people are really concerned about anyway i think when it comes to a keyboard.
Hope you see this.....I'm a vocalist and play practically every reed instrument out there....I am 57 years old....and, either this week or next, I am getting this keyboard and going to teach myself how to play it. So...nobody is ever too old to try out a new instrument. I don't think, anyway. So, grateful for YT...came to this channel to see what all the Yamaha Ex5 can do. I'm impressed...can't wait till mine gets to me!!!! THANK YOU, SAM!
@@rebelxapologist4505 I am telling you: Damn right! This is 2022.06 and I bought a EX7 unit all the way traveling from Michigan USA toward Lima, Perú. Simply: These EX's are until today good pieces not only construction, japanesse enterely and 4/5 sound engines each but well made. 1998-99 we call them "The father of the Motif" so keep on keeping learning and practicing. I also play a Kurzweil piano and the notorious Korg Triton Karma. Cheers mate! TC
Great man. I own this keyboard and am still facsinated. These are only Presets of the voice section ? I certainly must go through all the banks of the voice again after this video. Thanks Sam😎👍🎹!!
Not a very good player? Funny how we're so hard on ourselves. ;-) I thought you were fine. This looks like one beast of a keyboard, with good sounds to match. Thanks for the demo!
I have one also. Well this is my second one anyway. My first one I bought new but I can tell you it most certainly is a beast. 5 synthesis types including a sampler, a 4 track arpeggiator, an 8 track pattern sequencer and a 16 track song sequencer. One of the coolest built in synth types is Yamaha's VL synthesis.
@@scottcupp8129 PLUS 128 POLYPHONY as equal the Motif ES7. AND the EX7 64 AS EQUAL THE Motif classic. How much do people ask for a ES6?? Around 1000 usd and for a ES6 of XS6 us$ 1500. And Ex5 500/600 Ex7 400/450. So?? It is easy to see the ones that are overpriced right? The same with the Fantom Classic S, Xa, G ridiculous pricey. You'd never go wrong with either of the EXseries. Value/Money better relation.
Hi Sam - can you put this up again please?, as it won't play (for me anyway). Looks like a YT issue (?). Would love to listen as have owned EX5R for ages and won't sell it for sure .... Cheers! 🎹
Thanks! A great powerhouse synth - had the 76-key for a long while then (reluctantly) sold for rack, fully loaded and use my SY99 as master - utter joy!! More pleazzz Sam ....
Very underrated keyboard, this is one of the BEST! that Yamaha has ever made ,it was way ahead of it's time and still anything today does not have the power that this has.
@@marchangel7462 Sorry but AWM2 and its larger MB but 5 sound engines?? No. They Motif have larger memory, more effects.. but as a center of development and exploring new sounds and textures.. no they don't. On the other hand, 16 track secuencer and more friendly OS. Still.. I'd keep the EX5.
Not only EX5 or EXR... but EX7 worth the keeping. Since has 3 sound engines & sampling/resampling. If u ask me to buy a Motif I will probably buy Motif XS. But till today are way more expensive than these kbds.. and they do not dissapoint.
Top Este worstation! Continua sendo um dos melhores da marca. Com a extensão Simplicity 2 e 3, este teclado fica imbatível. Yamaha sempre se destacando nos conversores digitais. Parabéns pelo video.

I’ve got the little brother EX7, smaller without the VL synthesis, still sounds amazing, the sampling features are amazing, I just need more memory
was that the Super Mario Sunshine opening at 8:08 lol

Those flute patches toward the end are amazing. One sounds just like a Mellotron flute and one just like a real flute!
they are physical models.

You have one vid and 54 subs. HHHHHOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!
Hello!
I just bought a yamaha ex5 and when I wanted to edit a sound, they erased the others, how can I do a factory restore, could you help me?
5:41 sounds like a church organ exactly. And how it would sound in church.
I have an EX5 also and I have been looking for the factory demo disk images. Would you happen to have the images?
❤❤❤❤
The video went from 0 to 100 when he played vulf
