      Front
      17x8 4 1/2in backspacing with 245/45r17
      Rear
      17x9 5in backspacing with 275/40r17
      They are YearOne 17in aluminum rally 2s. So they have a nice stock look and fill in the wheel well.
      I researched this for months before I came to the above specs. And it’s a great fit, no rubbing, and the top of the tires are about flush with the wheel well, but no chance of of touching the metal.
      My personal opinion is 18s and larger look odd on the smaller muscle cars like Mustangs and Camaro/Firebirds so that’s why I went with the 17s

    Did you ever get the front done?

      Yeah; installed tubular control arms and adjustable coil overs, great stance and a really nice stiff ride but not ridiculous, also installed a quick ratio Trans Am steering box. Sorry did not make a video of it for some reason, can’t remember why to be honest. Unfortunately the motor is just slap worn out with no oil pressure at idle, and only a few psi at cruise and with the 3 speed auto and an open 2.56 rear end just super boring to drive. So I just use my 66 Buick Electra coupe to cruise while saving up money for a LS and 6 speed manual swap. Already have the 3.73 Yukon Locker to go in BOP rear end that I’ll do this summer.

      @@wesley_scott nice. I’d like to see that stance. Looking to do this on a 67.

    Meant to ask,how is the ride quality?

    • @wesley_scott
      @wesley_scott  Рік тому +1

      I’d say stiff but not ridiculous. I’m running 17s with lower profile tires which will stiffen the ride also. I don’t think a longer trip would wear me out but have not tried any big miles in it yet. The other springs had just a high ride it’s actually messed up my drive shaft length as I can not slide it forward after unbolting at the dif. Obviously it having a turbo 400 from a 1979 Oldmobile 98, it may have had the wrong driveshaft length all along. So have not drove it much as it has a wild vibration at 60 do to bad ujoints and no slip into and out of the tail shaft.

      @@wesley_scott Wow,never thought about the drive shaft issue.I’m putting in a whole new drivetrain so I’ll have to order a new driveshaft when it comes time.Torn between splurging on a Speedtech torque arm setup and just dropping the leafs.The torque arm has a good amount of adjustability.
      Never ending decisions and $$$$

      @@johnnyhotrod well measure the driveshaft first as yours may be alright. Mine might have been like that when I got it but the front end was so badly worn out and with a bad wheel bearing it was a danger to drive. So I did the rear suspension and swapped in tubular control arms with adjustable coil overs on the front before I ever drove the car. I bought the car in a 24ft enclosed car trailer as a package, it was essentially disassembled from a restoration that never got past body work and paint. But had the engine and transmission and differential in the car so it could be slowly moved around , with majority of the parts in boxes and totes in the trailer. No interior no glass etc etc, fun project, but man I’ve spent some money.
