- Welcome to 1Kaizo! This is a challenge of my own design where I need to beat 1,000 Kaizo levels in just 100 hours. I don't know if it's possible yet. This video contains segment 16 of the challenge.

As a fan of Kaizo since P-break, I have to say we cannot overstate the effect of Invictus on the SMW Kaizo scene. Before Invictus virtually nothing was chocolate, it was all vanilla mechanics being used in interacting ways, but after Invictus we can't get away from chocolate in hacks and I'm here for it. If Juz never makes a hack again he has already left his mark on the scene, up there with Panga and Takemeto.
Couldn't have said it better. Juz changed SMW Kaizo forever.
@@GenCavox And if you watch Juz streams, hrs has been actively talking about his work on a second hack. He's been working on it for years, and while he has no idea when he will be done or what it will consist of, it is in active development.
Look at storks pal it was released in 2017 and inspired this hack
Invictus showed the SMW community that chocolate could be fun with carefully designed levels. There were chocolate hacks before Invictus but players were very hesitant to play them because they had a reputation of using custom mechanics in levels without much explanation. Even hacks that are praised now like Storks didn't do a good job of explaining a lot of its mechanics and players were forced to throw many Marios at obstacles in order to learn how things worked. Invictus changed this by easing players into them through familiar scenarios and tutorial segments. An underrated aspect of Invictus is how well it builds up the mechanics and tricks and combines them in fluid ways: levels like the Red Switch palace and water level have timed switching block obstacles that prepare the player for Stellar where they control the switching blocks; motor skills was somewhat built throughout the game by having many jumps that alternated between normal and spin jumps; screenwrap in the sewer level and Biohazard and so on.
Juzcook is the only Mario streamer that I watch nearly as much as GPB, absolute legend
The invictus and GPW comps are how I started watching you and so many others... so nostalgic
Biohazard is truly a great level. Creative use of screen wrap, cool visual design, VVVVVV and Mega Man music... perfection!
44:42 that recovery
Poo calling genichiro "generico" is great lmao
I love how every one of these levels I was all "oooh, I remember this, it was a banger", truly an influential hack. But timing out Juz was deserved.
Invictus was the first big hack to heavily use Chocolate and every big hack after followed that example. It was a great thing for opening up what an SMW hack could be.
I think invictus was the first hack I watched on youtube and I was recommended to watch poo's invictus videos. I was so excited about it and it was so much fun. That was also the point when I subscribed to juz and poo's channels.
This truly is one of the greatest Kaizo hacks of all time. Hopefully Juz does eventually finish Invictus 2.
Man invictus really holds up as an awesome hack, super creative
Someone needs to make a video on the history of kaizo mario up to the present.
19:50 had me legitimately laugh out loud.
"Oi, the janky hack m8"
- Juz
The fact that megalovania has a copyright claim and had to be muted/replaced feels wild
If you contact Materia Collective regarding Undertale/Deltarune copyrights, they’ll remove the copyrights usually, the only exception is with fan games like Undertale Yellow, which has made their music before the game came out, and they didn’t communicate with them before making the covers.
The raters at SMWC were clearly drunk when they set this to Kaizo:Intermediate. Man this hack is brutal. I still havent beaten all of it.
44:39 nah the save at the end was crazy clutch
This made we want to watch the Dode vs Tofu race.
This is still one of my most favorite hacks to watch.
Intro: IDK what to do here.
4 seconds later... Crushes it lol 😂
Probably one of the best soundtracks, overall, I heard out of all the hacks you played in this challenge. And the level design was bloody brilliant.
but FUUUUUUUUUUUCK that water level 😆😆😆
ope, and 20:30 just made me realize there's some Undertale in there 😆😆😆
Gas is $5.50 here and every time I pump it I’m Furious.
I'll never get tired of seeing you play Invictus
That save was legendary
Great editing on the conversation stuff weskill :)
Ive only ever seen poo play Mario Odyssey, who would have thought he was smooth as hell on smb
Wait the VVVVVV Pressure Cooker on a screenwrap level is perfect
I was expecting VVVVVV The Tower on the earlier vertical level with left/right wrapping
"Invictus is a net negative." ~GrandPOOBear
Invictus is the GOAT hack IMO (Based on OST alone)
19:33 I honestly appreciate that you keep the real reactions. Kaizo is hard. I've died on much easier levels and let out way worse streams of profanity. Too real 😅
Some Castlevania bangers? Nice.
I only watched a few runs at Fast50, I didn't know you were on the couch outside of Mario games. Might have to check the others out as you got good commentary lol
God that retro version of the Super Mario Bros. Wii lava levels music is so damn good
I love how you give hate on them cheesing the level, and you are literally the cheese god
imagine Fast and the Furious started using Tesla's and they had to stop to charge.. That's the whole movie. Them sitting around, waiting 1 hour for the car to charge, but there was only one charger left, so the other cars had to wait. So now we got a 3 hour movie about 3 people sitting around waiting for their battery to get charged.
That save was ridiculous!
Switched left to right at the end. Nice save
As a viewer Invictus is my favorite Mario hack. It was just so innovative at the time, and even compared to modern kaizo all of the custom stuff in it looks so purposeful and polished.
One At A Time's got VVVVVV vibes with that music.
The music in this hack is on another level. I have no idea if it's just taken from other games or original.. but its insanely good.
Second Half of Absolute Power is Tobyfox's megalovania, and there's a track from Undertale's Ruins area during one of the ghost stages. It's from all over. Surprised Poo had to mute Megalovania and not the other Undertale Track.
@@adamnekothe level that wraps from top to bottom is Warp Zone from VVVVVV, which was especially funny as I had been thinking on the left-right-wrapping vertical level it should have the VVVVVV The Tower music
also at 39:50 that's the fastest finger music from old Who Wants To Be A Millionaire
I gotta watch more Poo! I missed a fan meet up at GDQ?! I missed so many chances to get a photo with Poo and Barb last weekend :(
12:56 gas right now in OK is 2.78
Just to note: Juz is working on Invictus 2.
Would be cool to see the total time loss and/or gained each video or hack.
Love me some donkey Kong music
I don't think switch 2 will have AR as its gimmick considering they tried to hype that up on 3DS
No last level. :( wanted to see that kaizo...
be fr though who's going to california to visit a random mountain town
WOW!
Hey coach, liking and commenting for the algorithm
wait, how is megalovania copyright restricted? does toby fox not own the rights to it anymore / is he a copyright troll / lazy with the youtube ID system?
Megalovania triggered the YT copyright algorithm? That's nuts. But hey, kudos to the editor for choosing DKC's "Fear Factory", it's a banger.
What's the music from the boo level? So jammin
What happened to the logo on the thumbnails?
Great hack
Hard disagree gpb. You may not be able to fill up a gas tank fast, but you can do it furiously. I'm fuming the entire time as I watch the numbers get higher. Absolutely worst way to set a high score.
You know, I don’t actually know much about what the most influential, or historically significant, SMW romhacks would be, aside from of course Kaizo Mario World. Like, just what was the significance of Invictus? How’s it affected what’s come since? What other hacks are up there?
There’s probably a good video about the history somewhere on here; any recommendations are welcome.
IIRC, Invictus was super popular and brought in a wave of "chocolate" hacks, that didn't use fully vanilla sprites and behavior but still stayed pretty close to the spirit of what's in the base game. I think it was also what popularized the "janky hack, mate" meme.
@@kitsovereign4127 I thought that came from Juz streaming someone else’s hack?
@@IZEASGT it was during the time juz and Carl were trolling each other with trolls iirc
It's kind of funny how Invictus popularized chocolate hacks, and now Juz gets excited every time a hack is described as vanilla or mostly vanilla.
9:30 he simply didn't beat the game.
You forgot to hit so many kaizo blocks.
but this hack doesn't have kaizo block*s* :)
POO 👑
So does Toby copyright claim Megalovania?
No but some other people always try to claim it
@@GrandPOOBear YT claims are such wild west bs
I was the 420th like!
This hack too good even in mine channel banner😅
When is Poo going to make Super Invictus 3? His last hack Super Dirty Dog World sucked. Get back to basics Poo, stop trying to code your driving wheel to work with smw. The F1 Mario crossover is a dream. You can't control Mario like you do a car. He's a plumber for Pete's sake.

No offense. But I am a not fan of Kaizo SMW Romhacks. Due to me being an Standard SMW Romhack person. So sadly I am going to get hate for this. But I really don't like Invictus along with Stokes Apes and Crocs and Original Kaizo Mario Trilogy and finally Grandpoo World Trilogy. Since I hate Kazio hacks. I love Standard hacks!
Super Mario World thats based! Not sure what tge big deal is though. I beat this game 100% completion when i was 10 yrs old. Keep trying, youll beat it someday.
